Black mould has infested many British homes leaving many residents suffering from long-term health problems.
Following the death of two-year-old Awaab Ishak as a result of “prolonged exposure” to mould in the social home where he lived with his parents in Rochdale the damaging effects of damp and mouldy homes has jumped into the national attention.
Vicky Spratt visits one home in Pimlico, London to meet a mother who is battling her housing association over the state of her home.
She then travels to speak to Housing Secretary Michael Gove about his proposed sanctions for social housing providers who fail their tenants.
i revealed that Mr Gove will cut off government funding for building new social homes to Ishak’s landlord, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH), in a bid to drive up standards.
The Housing Secretary will also block any housing provider that breaches the Social Housing Regulator’s consumer standards from new funding until they make improvements and award a £14m share to seven councils in areas with high numbers of poor-standard privately rented homes to crack down on rogue landlords who do not act on substandard conditions.

It seems a lot of the buildings in the UK is lacking insulation and air conditioning.

I installed ventilation in my house last year. Improved the air quality, but did not help with mould. You must be heating the property on top of ventilating. Also, twice a year I check and clean the gutters outside , so there's no blockage and less water absorbing into my walls. Plus I've painted exterior of the house with waterproof seal.This helps massively. It would be nice if I also had an insulation in my walls, but I can't afford it . I just did what I could afford financially, but it helped.

Omg, Michael Gove. The black mould is some bullstuff. The kid dying is completely screwed up. But I flipping lovey the Mikey Govey. He is beeeeeeeautiful. His tie reminds you of like Final Fantasy 4 when the graphics were 2D and the clouds were all blocky. His hands are insane. His voice is insane. I love him. It's messed up it takes some stuff like this happening to put him in the spotlight. It reminds me of David McCallum in NCIS. He's mostly only on the show when some military guy is dead as Hell for like 3 weeks and no-one can figure out why. Michael Gove is like an IRL Ducky Mallard.

Had mold issues with my last place had to clean every day with bleach the woman's just letting mold stay on the walls clean it off for Pete sake then move. I had to work over time to afford moving to another place. Why would anyone stay in a place like that and then complain? Move!!!! Get a second job to afford the cost.
