This is the first in a series in which we will see how many things we can create with sewing patterns. There's lots to work with here: the pretty envelopes (front and back), the sewing instructions, and the pattern tissue. I'll be working on covers and ephemera for some sewing themed journals.

This will be a fun series. It's neat to see your process, especially with the tags and library pockets. Just bought a couple of lots from your shop, and now I have an idea to embellish them. I also love the last element you showed, the gathered skirt you made with the color piece. -- Ingenious.

Your video popped up on my YT feed and what an inspirational gem. We have a long family textile history and me & my sister started sewing when we were about 7 and I remember failing a school exam because the teacher wouldn't believed I'd sewn the garment myself rather than my mother. This video has inspired me to create a journal honouring 3 generations of this textile history ... both grandmothers & my mother, sister & me. Thank you for this inspiration and much creating love from Australia 🐨 🐾 💝
@DianeHubertPrettyPinkCottage
What a wonderful heritage! My mother was an excellent seamstress, too, and my sister is gifted in this way. I sewed for myself and my children, but not as well as them. But I absolutely have great memories of patterns, pattern books, fabrics, etc. My mother owned a fabric shop and I worked there as a teen.

Love this idea and love to watch your serie. So nice to see something done with those old patterned papers. Before The pandemic we loved to travel to the UK for our holidays and once I found some in a charity shop over there. Over here in the Netherlands we don’t have such patterns with tissue paper, they all are just paper and you have to trace it yourself with tissue paper/ sewing paper to make the elements. I did that a lot when my children were younger, loved to make them clothes so love this theme now. Thank’s for inspiring and I think you are very creative! Stay safe and healthy Greetings from your mostly quiet follower Maia

Hi I discovered your channel today. I am so pleased I did as I have a whole bunch of old patterns which a friend found for me and they have bee sitting with my stash for quite some time now with all good intentions to use them. Now that I have seen ideas on how to use them I am inspired to get going with putting a journal together. Thank you. Your ideas are fabulous. 😊

Patterns today are so hard to follow! I had a friend here a while ago, who thought she could just let the fabric run thru the machine on its own and a dress came out! I kid you not!! She wouldn’t believe me when I told her she needed at least to cut the pieces and guide the fabric!! She started out making a prom dress fir a niece! There was nothing I could do to convince her! She spent tons of money, it never got made as I’m sure you know! She thought changing the sewing foot would work! Omg! I finally told her I couldn’t help! Weird I know but true!
