9000 items in the British Museum? There are millions. It was the first public museum opened in the world, and despite what it may say thousands of tourists take photos and videos in there. Did you not check out the 'Rosetta Stone' that enabled experts to read all Egyptian hieroglyphs? I visited the British Museum in the 1970's when all of the treasures of Tutankhamun had been shipped over for a massive exhibition. The amount of gold was staggering and it blew my mind forever! You should have gone in the National History Museum. It is also free and in a staggeringly beautiful building. Some of the Harry Potter movies were filmed there, and others too. The there is the V & A Museum ( Victoria & Albert ) that has clothes, fashion, and so much much more. They have / had a David Bowie section in there with all his stage outfits and other private possessions of his, including his art. Great video, and it's different eating in a Victorian urinal. I would not have eaten those jellied eels you had the other day, even though I'm half a Londoner!

All the main museums are free in London, so Science Museum, Natural History, RAF Museum at Hendon, National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, Imperial War Museum in Lambeth and Victoria and Albert Museum are all good choices in addition to the British Museum depending on tastes. Plus the embankment on the other side to Westminster has street entertainers (give them a £1 to keep them happy ;) )

Great video - there are many 'free' things to do in London. It doesn't have to be an expensive place to visit. I live down in the Southwest of the UK. One of my favourites is the Oxo Tower viewing platform and the Leaden hall market, you can even visit the public galleries of the Houses of Parliament (although the latter, you do have to book in advance)

Great video. It is possible to spend zilch in London if you choose to walk, and go to all the free museums and attractions. To feed yourself just go to a mini Sainsburys or Tescos and get a £3.50 meal deal. Or Wetherspoons offer hot food for very reasonable prices.

You mention that China Town is a 'just a short walk from Soho'. It is actually within Soho, albeit on the east side and butting up against Charing Cross Road...which when you cross over that street and keep going straight you are on your way into Covent Garden and Seven Dials, just minutes away. (By contrast - and just a short(ish) stroll away - Carnaby Street and the fabulous Liberty shop are on the west side of Soho, butting against Regent Street...across which one enters the highly exclusive neighbourhood of Mafair, which includes über expensive shopping on Bond Street, the go-to tailoring that is Saville Row, posh shop Fortnum & Mason, the Royal Academy etc.) One of the great things about London (and many older cities) is that all the key places are within the city centre, which makes them walkable or easily accessible by tube, bus or taxi. This isn't conveyed in your video but is worth noting, particularly with just a £20 budget. When next in London consider walking some of the residential areas...like Kensington, Holland Park and Notting Hill (all butting up against each other), Belgravia (home of the Tate Gallery, the predecessor to the Tate Modern), Fitzrovia, Chiswick.... Have you visited Hampstead and Highgate? A short tube ride up the Northern Line, you emerge from London's deepest tube station (around which there are underground bunkers) into one of the city's most exclusive enclaves, with very nice eateries and shops. Try Louis Patisserie for old-style treats. And go up Church Row, just minutes from the tube station (everything is just minutes from there) - it is a fabulous site with a very engaging cemetery. Nearby Highgate is where Sting has/had a house (amongst several around the world is also a new flat in the montrous development at Battersea (home of the Battersea Power Station pictured on the cover of Pink Floyd's 'Animals' album)). Hampstead and Highgate are villages, so quite compact. This is also a very exclusive area, long inhabited by leading artists and top musicians. I love your UK videos. Cara, your ability to articulate the facts with such enthusiasm makes you one of the most engaging vloggers I have watched. The two of you make a great pair.

You should have gone to Mr Wu's Chinese buffet. You stood right outside it when you first hit China Town. I was in London for my birthday the first week of December last year. I have to say if you love good Chinese this is the place and you can eat as much as you like for just £8.95 They have very good chicken wings, beef in black bean sauce and plenty of good stir fried veggie options and lovely stir fried noodles. I ate there three times and it was just the best. We ate there late afternoon and didn't have to have supper as we were full from our late lunch. Thus saving money as we didn't eat again till about 11pm when we went back to our self catering appartment and had a little late night snack. Another free thing I did that was good was visit Little Italy. I was staying in Paddington just a few minutes from it. It's canal boats that have been made into little cafe's and restaurants that go on for the lenth of the canal and it is a quite long walk but very nice.

Great to see you in Fitzrovia, as it's no so 'touristy', and you can mix with normal Londoners going about their day at work or socialising. You can get a feel of 'real' central London.

The Attendant. What we Brits would call a Convenience.. Lord Nelson was a diminutive man, standing at only 5ft 4 inches. The statue of him atop the column stands at 16 feet. That's horatio of 3 to 1 🙄

An echo of Britain's imperial past surrounds Trafalgar Square in a way other than just the statues and The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. On the square, or within a few metres of it, may be found the High Commissions of Canada, South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria, and New Zealand. Often these have free, temporary exhibitions. Also free entry at this square is the 1720s St Martins-in-the-Fields church. Such famous people as Chippendale, Boyle (of Boyle's Law), Nell Gwyn, etc are buried here.

Hiya. It's been a while, but I've never had to queue or get a ticket for any museum or gallery in my life. I can guess the reason one has to nowadays, though. So, I'll just say, THANK YOU, COVID!!! Btw, if you go to the National Portrait Gallery, which is around the corner from the National Gallery, once inside you should go straight to the top floor and then make your way down to the ground floor. That way you're moving from the distant past back to the present day. I don't think they tell you that. Stay safe. All the best to you.

If you look on British bank notes, you will see that the pound sign only has one line through it. This indicates pounds Sterling. The sign you have used on the screen titles indicating what you paid for things has 2 lines. Two lines are for (former - pre euro €) Italian, and Turkish Lira.
