Is it possible to become a primary educator with a Social Science degree -which many local universities offer- or do you need a BA Hons Primary Education as Strathclyde university offers? (only university that offers a BA hons in primary education in my local area)

+Transquark Any arguments to back that up? Unless you are referring to interpretivist branches you should know that social science collects empirical data to make predictions and form theories about how reality works.
