I never thought about Economics being a Social Science major, but it makes perfect sense. Regarding the other social science majors: if I need to get an advanced degree, it may not be worth it unless you have a direct plan.
Excellent question! We would categorize history as part of the humanities, though it is occasionally classified as a social science. Either way, there's a LOT you can do with a history degree! (And stay tuned: We'll be posting career videos for fields in the social sciences, including political science and sociology!)
Is it wiser in terms of which route would offer more job opportunities down the road , to major in Anthropology or a (more general) Social Science Associates degree? I'm going for my Bachelors in Environmental Studies afterwards. Any feedback would be much appreciated 🙏
There are many different types of Economics, and all Economics degrees contain both business and science related courses. Therefore, a college that has relatively more business courses than science in the curriculum should categorize it as business and the other way around. In my college I was able to specialize in either: Business Economics (w. more accounting, finance); Economics (more advance mathematics and public policy; or International Economics (international development and globalization electives).
So I got a question I'm pretty interested in social science I honestly never believed I would ever even get to think about going to college ya know my life hasn't been the greatest and I'm very poor I don't have alot of money and my family is just as broke but I just got my ged and I want to go further in life. But idk what my possibilities could be with my limited amount of resources basically can I even pursue a social science degree with no money and my test scores on my ged were normal and im.only trying to go to a community College so is it possible for me to even try??
so I'm not an expert in options and applications. But I think if its your dream you will find ways and you should DEFINITELY try to give it a go! Believe in yourself:) Hope you have a great day and future
I don’t think that it would necessarily have to hurt you to have a social science degree, you just need to be careful who you tell about it. I would possibly hire a psychology major but it would be suicidal to hire a woman’s studies or black studies major.
