For two people in Makati or BGC, even living like a tourist everyday, $5K USD is hard to spend month after month. $3K to $3.5K USD budget per two people is upper middle class to rich in the Philippines, but would still be lower middle class in the US. If you make $5K a month, no worries. $10K USD per month which is easily achieved for may westerners, and you are deep into the top 1% in the Philippines. The Philippine Presidents "official" pay scale is $8K USD per month.

@@Breavis Not sure of the point you're making? Kids are expensive which is why I said 2 people. If you throw in Kids (plural) and all the extras that you mention, $10K sounds about right in BGC or Makati. Larger condo, etc. But that same lifestyle in the US is 3x to 4x that cost. Come to Hawaii and try to live that same lifestyle. $10K per month, puts your kids in public school, and you're family in the poor house. So poor house in Hawaii, or 1% in BGC or Makati?

Thanks for the video and sharing, I live with the budget of $1500 a month and that's in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City. Very happy enough to not pay any mortgage or rent. Only 5 farangs living in that area and both military veterans.

Well said, that makes sense, if I would move or live in the Philippines. I'd rather be living comfortably, not saving penny

Great video! Every other blogger makes it seem easy to live under $1500. We are going to be living in a Megaworld project and the mortgage will be around $2000 monthly. Told my Wife that I could live in the Provinces only if we could live a first world lifestyle. The Trolls are going to complain about your realistic price ranges. All the best!

As a Filipino, if you own houses or condos, just bring $1000 for a month to enjoy almost everything.

For someone who has been back and forth between the US and the PH for 10 years. I’ve never spent more than $3k to $3500 US a month unless there is other SE Asian travel involved. $5k is a very robust budget. $10k shouldn’t even be mentioned. With that budget I’d live in a first world country and not a second to third world country like the Philippines.

I'm looking at a $2k USD monthly budget for my Six to Eight Month Stay in Cebu City... With a decent Emergency Fund and a 50% monthly Cushion.

Yeah 2500 is a decent spot to aim for with a separate travel fund. For places like BGC a bit more like 3k and up.

100% 👍. I lived in makati in 07/08 even then I was spending over 2k pm. Today BGC is probably more expensive so 3k+ is great for there.
