I was flying out of Manila recently and got scammed from the airport cab drivers. Luckily I made my way to where I needed. I think the friendliness and kindness takes a backseat to greed sometimes.
My experience traveling around in the Philippines for over three months now, local Filipinos have been friendly, welcoming, and always come with a smile 🇵🇭❤️🙌
Philippines, the old sexpat’s paradise. Get all the fish sauce smelling burnt rice cakes you want at an insane discount! Only best businesses to run in the Philippines are illegal whore houses, since everyone and everything is CORRUPTED!! 😅😅😅
One thing you missed to mention: BALUT- i would call it aborted duckling. One of our Dutch friar said that he has learned to eat everything in the Philippines except balut. There are also filipinos who don't eat balut.
Filipinos, in general, are known to be helpful to anyone in need, whether they are locals or foreigners. While some Filipinos may be skeptical about helping locals due to concerns about potential scams, they are usually more willing to assist foreigners, especially because they are in a foreign land.
Well, it's not a zero-sum situation so it doesn't seem fair to equate it as 2-Filipinos are nicer to foreigners and 1-Filipinos are nicer to Filipinos. SM City and fruit stand examples, sure, they take advantage of the foreigners but it’s business - and mostly street vendors; also at the restaurant waiting for you to pay (which I agree is not right). However, all 3 examples are money/business-related. Sure, they take advantage of you assuming you have a lot of money in your pocket but they don't pull you to the alley and rob you, like in many other countries. On the other hand, if you're a foreigner who became homeless or need help in the Philippines, got stuck or whatever, Filipinos will help you and not let you die of hunger (like the Belgian tourist), that's for sure. Or you lost your passport and wallet like this lady (“she lost her wallet and passport in the Philippines... you won't believe what happened next...!”) There are so many examples you can find on social media where Filipinos went above and beyond their capabilities because they’re truly hospitable and helpful at heart. Well, yeah, especially to foreigners, so thank you Filipinos for that! The guard being biased to the foreigner, true, they shouldn't. I believe, however, it's because they think a fellow Filipino is more likely to bring a bomb to the mall than a foreigner (mostly for political reasons, as we know.) Sorry to say but your analogy is like asking the question, “Are Americans nice to immigrants in the U.S. or not?”. Comprehensive subjects like this cannot be presented like a light switch.
In Native Indigenous American way, we have a potluck style bday. But we also have a tradition that we gift people pertinent in our lives... mother, father, grandparents. It is to show thanks and gratitude of respect for the ones who are the eeasons we are here. And many times traditional ceremony is a part as well.
I'm a local. You may be right, but not totally right. Filipinos help seniors, pregnant women, and PWDs (persons with disabilities) when they find them struggling. Filipinos help foreigners more than locals because we know they are strangers and need help. It depends on every individual. Some say it's about money, but I'm afraid I have to disagree. Mormon missionaries are having free rides with my brother-in-law, who is a jeepney driver, and he doesn't let them pay. And oh, my brother-in-law is agnostic. 😅 Market vendors are some of the most dishonest people, so I wouldn't count them as a factor. They charge more not only foreigners but also locals who they think have more money. It's a cultural thing, and most Filipinos feel proud when they can help.
Never been experience like that in Davao my husband is British is a shit sorry to saying for that I been many time in Davao never been experience happen and just making a laugh 😂
Hello I'm Greg Luther from usa. but now I'm living mostly in thailand. I would like to chat with you about coming to cebu it park. What would be some good hotels in that area for around $50 usd per night? Looking to see about living there for a while, and play some golf
As a full blooded Filipino raised in the US, I like that I am not noticed in stores, an anonymous face in the crowd as long as I don't speak. I never truly felt like that in the US. Being asocial and cheap, getting the native price while being left alone is my ideal.
I would say it is highly dependent on your demeanor. Generally speaking of course I would say yes. If you’re humble and respectful you more than likely will be treated that way.
your right depends example 2 or 3 out of 100 trike trips treated fairly for me 75% of people I pass on street if I say good morning they will too and some of it is getting to know the type of person you are most will be nice and fair if you are just my opinion good video subject
They are nicer/friendly if money is involved. If you understand Tagalog you will really know how they feel about foreigners. Are there exceptions? Of course. Foreigners seem to be delusional about the country
Sir that’s our culture ? You got yours . Tabo we are clear when I comes toilet. U paper, what’s wrong with it if we don’t used fork . It’s our culture . If you don’t like it don’t do it . But please don’t say for the sake to be free from food . All I can say GO HOME DON’T LIVE HERE .RESPECT OUT CULTURE . Because We Filipino goes to any any countries WE DO RESPECT YOUR CULTURE AND OBAY YOUR RULES AND REGULATIONS .
Filipinos only knows how to spend money for parties and fiestas but most do not know how to save money for important needs and emergencies for their future...
Regarding the rain, I used to doubt it since I grew up in the province without a lot of industrial air pollutants so I never minded getting wet in a drizzle. But when I transferred to Manila……..it became more obvious to me that the belief was not baseless as getting mildly wet in a drizzle would always be followed by a viral upper respiratory tract infection, at least in my case.
How really sad that these kind of things are sneaking in to my country Philippines already I thought it’s just in Canada…Filipinos culture is simple man and woman we recognize …if a man wants to be a woman it’s their choice if they want to confuse themselves but what u are called should never be demanded if people wants to choose to be confused don’t demand others to be confused too culturally we are simple don’t complicate us I think whatever is trending in the west should stay there because they’re way too complicated
Funny story 5 months in Cebu now 1st time out of US rented a house in Inayawan a month in they build a stage 50' from my front door week long party I joined from time to time so loud can't sleep don't care for the ladyguy shows either but its cool
It's weird from your western mindset or perspective. Definitely, you don't understand these weird stuffs because you don't know the stories behind our practices. But, you seem to be a nice guy and open to experience weird things, though. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas.
Each barangay, town, city, province, and even a region has a fiesta. Example of this is my hometown in Bicol, we celebrate 3 fiestas in a year. One for barangay ("barrio fiesta"), next for the town (town's patron saint), then the regional one - Our Lady of Peñafrancia fiesta. So it's common to celebrate 3-4 fiesta in a year.
When I first came here, I would take a shower with the kabo. I dripped it on me slowly because of the heat. I wanted to enjoy the cool water. Filipinos will toss the whole thing throwing water across the whole bathroon (CR). Turn signals mean anything. Left signal might mean a left turn, passing a stopped car or moving over to the right. After loving in the bed, underwear is needed to prevent panohot, a general sickness that can mean almost anything. Pointing with the lips instead of the index finger. Raising your eyebrows instead of nodding the head in the affirmative. Wait until your car breaks down or your roof seriously leaks instead of doing preventative maintenance. When you speak their language instead of complementing you they will turn to their friends and comment about you in front of you. Complements to you being so handsome or young even though you know otherwise (this is my favorite).
Balikbayan box is the culture that my Japanese daughters doesn’t understand. Why are you always sending package in the Philippines? There’s toiletries, chocolates, snacks….why they’re asking to buy a branded shoes 👟? But why my relatives don’t send me any package 📦? They think that the weird culture in the Philippines. Also when you go home in the Philippines when we go out o eat nobody in the family pay the bill 😅they hate it😊
Hey, be quiet to each his own. If u Find it weird its normal for us. We grew up to be thoughfull & generous. Unliked d westiner u guys are cheap & only whats good for u. Find another use able & knowleageable content.
Woke no place in the Philippines now everyone bashing on him. He apologized of what he did. Don't demand to Filipino if your a woke . We address You on your correct gender. No pronoun in the Philippines sorry but not more in more using in my country
Phil's OFW's are our silent heroes, they helped much in our economy .. thanks for their contribution and sacrifices. We are salute and proud of you all ❤❤❤
I don't know anything about Philippines politics, thus have nothing to say. I know about American politics because I listen to news and policies. I can speak about American politics, despite not being American. If I had studied Philippines politics, which I have not, why should I not voice an opinion ? If Philippines wants to quiet my voice, despite not having the suffrage, then that isn't a country in which I would want to live. There is a difference between having political thoughts, and campaigning, lobbying, and raising money. If Filipinos don't understand the difference, that speaks ill of their culture.
Hello, just wondering if you would consider talking about homes for condo's for sale in Davao? One issue I'm having is finding the right type of home or maybe even a condo in Davao, all I seem to find are much more expensive units on youtube. I really think it would be an interesting topic for you to talk about on your channel.
