As a Warlock, I'm excited. I was worried Song of Flame was out because Transcendence is very similar. Now I get two ability spams on two different cooldowns.

Honestly, this class to me feels like it’s going to be exactly like the saying “a jack of all trades but a master of none.” You’re able to dip into multiple things, but because of subclass of verbs, a single element is going to be able to have more synergy and potential power. This is actually why I think they made the special grenades for this in order to bump up its power.

I was 100% expecting limitations like these. My mind is more wondering if they will expand on Prismatic post TFS or not. I don't expect them to eventually bring over everything (Nor do I want them to since I think specialization should still have a place.) But it would be nice if we got...idk. A few more melee and nade options. I'd be okay with staying tied to these specific supers though. Given how much of a power fantasy supers are I think it only makes sense that we're limited to 1 per class (especially given Strand/Stasis only have the one.)

Yeah, obviously it can’t just be a better version of other subclasses or we will have gone from 5 subclasses to 1 instead of 5 to 6. It probably will be weaker versions of everything, plus the extra powerful combo transcendence grenade to even it out. I’m guessing prismatic will be best with some of the combo exotic class items that buff multiple different subclass abilities.

I love the transendence gauge. Its so ffxiv redmage, eeven with kinetic doing a smaller amount of both. I fucks with that so hard, and would not be surprised to hear it was inspired by it or a similar system. Love when games adopt cool systems from other games

Little disappointed not that the options are limited, but with what options we got. That being said: I think there is a pretty obscene combo for warlocks that a lot of people have already keyed in on: Needlestorm (or maybe song of flame depending how good it is) Healing rift Burst glide (or dealer’s choice) Arcane needle Vortex grenade Bleakwatcher and feed the void Needlestorm for a genuine big time burst damage option. Song of flame could be really good to pair with transcendence to be in a super very frequently, if it does turn out to be strong. Class ability doesn’t matter too much, healing rift is historically just the winner out of the three. Arcane needle plus the radiant fragment for high uptime weapon damage bonus, plus three charges to fill the darkness bar. Also 3 opportunities for clean up kills to proc devour. Vortex grenade plus the weaken fragment for big light energy damage to charge light meter. Devour for grenade uptime (key) and health regen. Bleakwatcher to lock down adds even in endgame content. Play loop goes like this: toss Bleakwatcher, use arcane needle to proc devour and radiant. Slay out with your damage buff and health regen. Increased grenade regen will get you a vortex grenade quickly, use this to weaken big targets and fill the light bar quickly. Shatter frozen targets to fill the dark bar, plus spread unravel from arcane needle to do even more darkness damage. In theory with grenade regen mods and 100 disc we should almost have another grenade ready to replace bleakwatcher on short notice, especially if we can use a combo exotic to boost grenade regen or add a second charge. With needlestorm on, we can pick up orbs for damage resistance from woven mail on top of our healing from devour. Use needlestorm for massive burst damage that actually hits tormentors unlike other warlock supers. Next wave of big adds? Pop transcendence and spam the new grenade which looks busted to kill large groups of adds while also refreshing devour if needed. Get 3 melee charges back (in theory, we’ll see if you just get one back) to get radiant back up and couple it with the transcendence weapon damage boost plus surge mods to do massive weapon damage. Rinse and repeat: healing, grenade regen, damage resistance, weaken, crowd control, radiant, massive damage output with very easy start up parameters. In theory you could use high single target damage weapons like mountaintop and apex/a linear to focus on big targets with how much crowd control and spread damage you’ll have access to. Best theoretical exotic bond I can think of: Star eaters to make needlestorm a nuclear weapon, plus more incentive to gather orbs which will give you woven mail and proc mods. Armamentarium so you have a bleakwatcher and vortex grenade ready off the rip. Or maybe verity’s but I’m guessing that’ll force you to use a strand weapon plus threadling grenades if you have to match the super. If this works out like I’m thinking, you’ll be a genuine one man army ready to solo dungeons and gm’s while also being set for raid damage rotations and encounters. Kind of an all in one do it all build. I’m hype.

I think this is millions of times better than just getting one new super per class. And this gives them lots of space to add to prismatic over time.

Im personally pretty happy things have guard rails. I was IMMEDIATELY hyped when i saw the trailer open yesterday with a guardian using different abilities, amd then kind of became overwhelmed before the trailer ended. The way they're picking and choosing seems dope

They literally said "Strand Warlock is the summoner class. All of your aspects generate Threadlings!" then turned around and said "NEW SUBCLASS! YOU'RE A SUMMONER!"

In case anyone was wondering, I did the math. In Hunter case for the limited, we have 5 supers, 3 class, 4 jumps, 5 melees, 5 grenades, and 5 aspects. Using the binomial formula for the aspects, we get 10 combinations of aspects alone. Multiply all that together, and there are 15,000 ways to customize the version we actually have. (Not including the options for 1 or 0 aspects) With the unlimited, Hunters have 11 supers, 3 class, 4 jumps, 9 melees, 28 grenades, and 17 aspects. That turns into 136 aspect combos, which turns into 4,523,904 different ways to customize JUST a Hunter

combination blow on hunter seems like its gonna be incredibly good with all the dodge related aspects. having access to the arc hunter gameplay loop on things like winters shroud and especially threaded specter seems like its gonna be a fun time.

I noticed in the trailer that Titan used consecration with strand melee and it only took one charge! So I’m excited to do frenzied blade, pulse grenade (with jolt fragment), consecration, and probably knockout. Three consecrations would be so good, plus healing on kill. Then use the balance fragment to get melee energy with rapid light damage kills to keep up charges. You could really use any super you like that fits best for you. I would probably do strand or the new void one. The only issue it dealing dark damage, so you would want dark guns and to use frenzied blade here and there. This is why a Dark super might be good too.

Well I'm definitely going to run astrocytes, blink, phoenix dive, winters wrath, penumbral blast/arcane needle, weavers call and lightning surge or bleakwatchers. Its going to be ridiculous. I might also test out Song of Flame out with this too, since it looks cool and I can continue to use my guns. Not sure what grenade I'll use though, possibly vortex for area denial. Although coldsnaps are on a short cooldown and heal nades heal. I'll essentially have threadlings on a pretty short cooldown with phoenix dive, so maybe healing will be the better play. If the Blink further and more frequently part of astrocyte is part of the class exotic. I'll definitely be using it with ophidian aspects. But that's dependent on whether astrocytes is even on the class exotic at all. Since it'll only work on Hunter and Warlock they might not include it. There is no class neutral way of spinning astrocytes as an exotic perk.

Winters shroud + threaded specter, combination blow, bombardiers. Slow, decoy, bombardiers blows the decoy making threadlings, causes another effect depending on your super choice, first thing Im trying on hunter.

I'm hoping the bring Child of the Old Gods to Prismatic. I really want to run that with Bleakwatcher and Briarbinds and go full support summoner. Helion and Bleakwatcher could be a good alternative in the meantime though.

Gives them pretty good balancing levers too. If, for example, feed the void is too strong they can swap it out for a different aspect

Super: Song of Flame Class Ability: Empowering Rift Melee Ability: Arcane Needle Grenade Ability: Storm Grenade Aspects: Hellion & Weaver's Call Fragments: Facet of Purpose, Facet of Dominance, Facet of Hope, Facet of Protection Exotic Armor: Secant Filaments + Vesper of Radius/Swarmers (Hopefully one of these is a valid combo) Exotic Weapon: Tractor Cannon Just an ability spam build that would constantly summon Threadlings and "Solar Souls" through casting your rift, which would in turn give you Devour and cast an Arc shockwave. Devour heals you and procs Facet of Hope, giving you more class ability energy to continue the spam (Hopefully it's anywhere NEAR as much regen as Ember of Singeing). Arcane Needle and Storm Grenades give Unraveled and Jolted debuffs. Tractor Cannon for the weaken effect in single target. Facet of Purpose would give further healing through Restoration procs when you pick up orbs with the Powerful Attraction armor mod. Song of Flame further enhances your ability regen to spam more.

It looks fun, but it seems like a jack of all trades master of none situation based on the abilities. It's very limited so that sense of it being a freeform build crafting tool is going to be massively undermined by build homogenization, you also need to run light and dark. It really depends on how powerful transcendence is and what the perk pool on the exotic class items will be.

First thing I am thinking of on titan is consecration with drengr's lash, pulse grenade, frenzied blade, and twilight arsenal. In terms of exotics, I was thinking Abeyant Leap to buff drengr's and allow you to get woven. The void super also allows you to get overshield from one of the fragments, allowing you to get woven and overhsield at the same time. I think consecration would just be good to use on a large group of suspended targets for big ignite, although this isn't a must pick for this would be build. I could see diamond lance or unbreakable being used instead of consecration if you really need stun instead of damage. Pulse nade is just really good. I wonder though if you could get multiple consecrations with frenzied blade, since you have three charges of it? Certainly food for thought. If frost armor turns out to be cracked, you could swap to behemoth super. I was trying to think of good exotics for a lot of consecrations to possibly build around, but I couldn't think of much as of yet. I'm certainly excited.

I'm so sad Warlocks are really gonna stay stuck on well forever I just want to use another subclass on raids man 😭

Honestly Less excited with this post. It's still gonna be fun. But I was hoping I was going to be able to revive trip mine build, my favorite build in the game that I still use in lesser content even though it's pretty dead for endgame now. Hopefully we get more as time goes on.

As a warlock, im really stoked! From what was shown I think i have concocted a pretty cool Solar/Stasis build with Conditional. I am curious to see what possibilities they will allow for the class item, so I’m keeping my expectations for possibilities regarding that tempered until we see what it can actually do.

I'm kicking around a felwinters helm build on my warlock. Since we will have so many melee charges and have some decent damage with the electric slide. You could pretty well keep a good amount of the battlefield suppressed.

I cant help but feel like the prismatic system should have been a new class system rather than a subclass with limited options.

I think that eventually when we get a new episode during the year we’ll be able to get other supers grenades aspects fragments etc I think they’re withholding them because having too much too soon could be overwhelming

I also think this is a good way to structure the subclass for the future, because they could add in new abilities, fragments, etc into these in the future. Strand got tons of new fragments during Lightfall's year; they could easily do the same here. I'm still excited!

As a titan, I'm a little worried about the lack of buffs that keep me in the fray, knockout is good but all of this seems awfully short ranged on titan. No good projectile melee options definitely hurts. Would love to be wrong though!

They'll definitely add a second super and probably grenades to both the mixed set and transcendent mode. It would be a good idea to look into mixing in a transcendent class ability too, for variety.

Running pretty much flat stasis hunter + stylish executioner will be awesome-assuming it’s not tuned down, you’ll proc invis after every kill on a slowed or frozen enemy, which is insane. Also, really looking forward to pairing Facet of Ruin with Conditional Finality.

As a Warlock main. Im tired of running well and might switch my main to hunter depending on my raiding experience in the future. I hope well gets nerfed so Warlocks can have actual variety in raiding. I hope the final raid isn't people just asking in lfg "Must use well" or "Need wellock" No.. No more. "How about you titans put on bubble like in D1 and we do damage that way." Honestly at first I thought this but what needs to happen is we can't have dominant support subclasses anymore for the most part. All it does is make the game stale. Vold hunter is an exception because that class is actually a fun support and not required on any boss. Where as not just 1 but multiple wells are mandatory for all raids. Also, If your still reading this my warlock build after looking at this will be stasis melee, Song of Flame, Vortex nade, and feed the void with healing rift, burst glide. The point of this build is throwing a ton of vortex nades and healing from them with a bit of "Oh shit Im about to die to a big target." with the stasis melee.

It just feels wierd to have the devs talk about like "this is my favourite build where i use this this and this to do something special" and "were excited to see what linds of combinations players can create", only for the things they showed to basically be the whole kit. I was hoping prismatic was going to be subclass 4.0 where wed have access to every ability, aspect, and fragment and any new stuff would just be added to that. Now that i know its a very small list of handpicked options im way less excited to try it out.

I haven’t figured out the full build, but the idea of consecration + frenzied strike makes me real excited, especially if one use of the move (the upswing, then the slam) costs one melee charge, I’d be REAL happy.

something else I noticed from the screenshots and verbiage they used there are two “Trancendent” choices on the subclass screen and when talking about trancendent they mentioned each class would have “one unique to them” which is a very simple way to say that there will be multiple trancendent grenade choices, several shared, 3 that are unique to the individual classes. curious to see what the other choice is, possibly some kind of passive choice? for armor crafting, I’m curious if we’ll see any changes for this, at first I thought that the “harmonic” mods would probably just go based on your super. but now I’m thinking that kind of leads away from the fun mechanical choice of having this be a non-monochromatic subclass. lots of interesting things to see ahead!

Hey Datto do you know if the grenade and ability regen from Transcendence will conflict with the grenade and regen of Song of Flame?

The hunter one is pretty bleak. Could not imagine having 3 worse Light grenades to start. Heard a lot of peoples theorycrafts and have yet to see one that is something more/better than a monoclass. The spikes just aren't there. Knock em down combination blow would have been cool, Maybe vanishing step and threaded specter, A grim harvest that makes all pickups and gives all energies back, Widow's silk GPG and you get 2, even. on top of that something powerful like facet of dominance does nothing on hunter since their transcendent grenade is solar stasis. On the other classes you can double dip with you special nade and regular but on hunter its a mono fragment. I'm sure some of these will work in hunters favor but will they be the strong ones. The weaken grenade and jolt grenade fragments are really strong and locks in almost every build and warlock and titan and double dip and use both. IDK it just seems wonky to me.

I’m so glad that it sounds like they’ll be simplifying and speeding up the unlocking of fragments and aspects. I’ve put over a thousand hours into the game since beyond light and I still don’t have all the stasis bits because I never prioritized them. I was just a “casual” player who played a lot, I just hopped onto whatever I wanted to play on a given day, so I never got through all the stasis unlocks for all three classes. And considering I’ve barely touched the game since finishing the lightfall campaign once, I have no reason to run strand, since for me, it’s a weak subclass (due to how few unlocks I have).

Gunpowder Gamble being in there is fantastic all on its own.

im expecting some pretty silly synergies to come from the arcane needle + lightning surge synergies 3 melee charges for repeated slide melees, but you could also combine it with necrotic grip to make it an unravel + jolt + poison situation, and if you're extra spicy you could wear felwinter's helm with thorn/osteo striga for unravel + jolt + weaken + poison. the meme dream is pretty dank, but i kinda love it

I like the naming scheme for the new subclass Facets of a prism effecting how light (and dark) interact with the world in front of it.

VERY glad to see that there are restrictions, would hate to see the existing subclasses just become obsolete, thought im still worried that transcendence with the increase weapon damage and super grenades is gonna cause that anyway

At first I was excited, now I think they should've just given us more aspects and fragments for existing classes.

I already figured that it wouldn't be a full selection because if you paid attention to the video you can hear them say that. The choices are a little more restricted than I thought but I have a feeling the fragments will more than make up for what we see in the charts. And who knows, they might add more to it later on because this leaves a huge door open for future build crafting and options.

Roaring flame+banner of war+strain titan melee or solar titan melee+one-two punch+synthoceps. (Or the new class item exotic which hopefully can roll synthoceps+worm god husks exotic perks)

Combination blow/grapple with silkstrike and the fragments that give grenade energy on darkness final blows and subclass buff based on super damage type (woven mail for strand) seems like it could be a strong contender for an actual high level melee build

Already cooked a good hunter build: Aspects: stylish + ascension (invis loop, free jolt + amplified which is a long buff) Melee: either strand or stasis, whichever winds up being more effective Grenade: I guess magnetic, it's like the least bad choice Dodge: the melee recharge one Super: doesn't really matter, probably solar Fragments: dawn (radiant on melee hits) Hope (faster class ability regen while element buffed) Protection (gain defensive buff on orb pickup) Ruin (increase ignition size) Class item: calibans hand (ignitions on melee kill) + synthoceps/wormgod (at least one has to be available, melee damage buff) Insane room clearer melee build that gives a million buffs off every kill, not even considering weapons

I actually prefer that they're limiting what's available to use in prismatic, otherwise it would be absolutely hectic. My build is probably gonna be: Combination blow + Gambler’s Dodge + Threaded Specter + Winter's Shroud and Grapple Grenade. Super: Shadow Shot: Dreadfall. Fragments: Facet of Balance, Facet of Dawn, Facet of Justice, Facet of Protection and Facet of Purpose.

Do you think we will need the other DLCs to access those subclasses within prismatic? Or are they making stasis and strand readily available regardless of dlc ownership and campaign completion? Thanks!

Bro I think they unironically picked the worst aspects for each subclass on titan. Thruster Drenger's lash is the only thing I can see being good if Abeyant leap rolls on the class exotic.

As a warlock main, idc, I will be using prismatic for the rest of the life of the game, no I will not feel bad about it.

I wanted tripmine since it is the signature hunter solar grenade but noticed combination blow was there, with ahamkara spine that would make an op combo

Build I am excited for: Hunter, with Winter’s Shroud, Stylish Executioner, Combination Blow, Grapple Grenade and Stasis or Strand Super. Thinking of it like “We have Assassin’s Cowl at home” and a tankier Arc Hunter at the same time. Leaves room for Liar’s Handshake and maybe some other uncommon options like Sealed Ahamkara’s, or whatever we can get on the class items. Reduxing one of my favorite builds of all time into something fresh.

Focusing the new subclass on underused abilities is a great way to create an underused subclass.

Im wondering does normal exotic armor work with this subclass. Like getaway artist to consume the grenade with the new solar aspect, or are we stuck with the class exotic only on prismatic?

To me, it feels like they needed to make another subclass after the disappointment from Light Fall so they smacked some stuff together and gave it a new coat of paint. A new color for my fellow crayon eating titans.

The specific things they've picked for Prismatic have assuaged *some* of my concerns about the Subclass. It doesn't completely invalidate other subclasses, basically everyone has some unique or synergistic play pattern that Prismatic *doesn't* do. Prismatic titan doesn't have Sunspots, doesn't have overshield Barricade, doesn't have Banner of War, etc. etc. There don't seem to be much, if any, interactions with Element Keywords beyond a few specific ways of applying them. I'm still not a fan of slapping Transcendence on top of all of this, and it still feels like a blatant "We need a new subclass to sell the expansion, quick, make something that doesn't require any new assets!" but my immediate sense of "Oh they're just killing the game to make a quick buck" is assuaged for the moment at least.

if this subclass comes out, and players don't feel like they have control over their builds, then I think it will become incredibly niche.

Ever since the change from the old Charged with kifht system you couldnt spam stasis turrets like you used to so im gonna be using feed the void + bleak watcher + needlestorm so that i can get woven mail through one of the new aspects. Haven't really thought about the rest but yeah

My main question now is will banner of war and consecration work together because consecration uses throwing hammer but banner of war procs on any melee kill, charged or not. So would they work in tandem?

The way they did it is the only way it could work without making everything else obsolete.

Felwinters and Severance Enclosures Might be interesting too. In all honesty I Severance may finally get a break, I haven’t looked too deep but I’m sure there is some crazy nuking power in that exotic.

knowing that there's limitations kinda just makes me wish they wouldve just developed an entirely new subclass alltogether.

My guess is that with how we got new aspects with the seasons following stasis and strand being added, we'll get more stuff for prismatic. Maybe brand new things or just bringing up another option from each subclass
