needed a silicon candy mold for candy corns, I could not find one to purchase so I made my own, pretty simple to do just time consuming.
I think they turned out GREAT !!!!!!

Make the yellow a chocolate color. Once it is thicker in the mold ..Then put a sewing pin in point up and out. Let cure. Use as teeth and poke into the mouth of a jack-o-lantern. Or on top as a spiky hairdo for your pumpkin.

Your resin candy corn turned out awesome! Just be careful where you leave them lol. When I was in high school, one easter I had been making miniature baskets with mini Easter eggs out of polymer clay. I baked the polymer clay on a cookie sheet in the oven. One day my cousin was over, and he came in to where my mom was and said, "Aunt Jenny, those Easter candies aren't very good." He had seen the mini eggs I'd left on the cookie sheet, and thinking they were candy, popped some in his mouth lol. Luckily they weren't too hard, so they didn't break his teeth! I also wanted to suggest that you "dome" the ends of your candy corn. Basically after it's cured, but still in the mold, drop a bit of the last color of resin (in this case, yellow) onto the bottoms of the candy corn until it creates a "dome" effect using surface tension. That way the bottoms will be a little more rounded, like the real candy corn is. Hope that helps! Can't wait to see what you do with these!

Surprisingly, candy corn casts quite nicely in a mold. Ive done them in coasters and a soap dish. I would never try to turn them, though. You're definitely right about that.

Nice work! May I make a suggestion for next time? Get a 5-10cc syringe and needles. That way you have more control over how much goes in, and you have the millimeter markers to measure to get uniformity. You may not even need the needles, but you’ll probably need a syringe for every color. Look forward to the finished project! 😊

The labor cost per piece is high, but you really nailed them, Doug. This souks be the new standard for trying to include food in resin. Or colorful hard foods you could recreate with epoxy. Can't wait to see how you use them.

*Doug, nicely done.... but I would grab a pile of syringes (minus needles) and use one for white, one for orange & one for yellow... especially if you plan on making heaps of corn bits. to make it a lot easier to get the mix right into each hole and a lot less messy too. Plus, you have made a permanent mold to use now for in the future.🙂.*

Nicely done! The division between colors is even better than the candy version. Any plan to do the pumpkins, too, and make a Halloween 'candy jar'? Makes me wonder if this would be possible for those old fashioned Christmas hard candies, too? Could do them in all sorts of colors.

An Ozzie here, I got to try candy corn for the first time last week..... was not what i expected i thought it was going to be hard boiled candy to be like dried corn for some silly reason. These would look great with screw in eyelet hooks and turned into earrings :) dont get this candy corn mixed up with your real candy corn :)

I think I'd have used a Jacguard syringe from to put the resin in much easier to control how much you put into the mold, and much faster

You are eating Shellac... Or resin they put it in that candy . The clear shiny shell is Shellac or resin. Goggle it.

I took your advise and googled it, this is what I found, candy corn actually contains an ingredient called shellac. .” This directly refers to “secretions from a bug native to Thailand.” Confectioners glaze is just a sweeter, simpler, and more appetizing title, so companies choose to list the ingredient as that.
