@@KWally he’d still care about what happen to Germany as a country and its people, he’d have found the story of the Berlin airlift to be heart touching and a true indicator of which side post war was and is fundamentally and inherently morally righteous.
It would have been so awesome for them to keep everything the same but with the German notes he has Germany’s recovery from Hitler and the Nazis in bullet points. That would have been dope and would show that the people of the country, who are the real country, were not supporters of that madness he brought to their nation
@@watasht0ff360but sadly they did support it idealistically or physically or both... not saying Germans are bad theyre just humans. It could happen in any country and it has.
@@brandonvallier4214 They were nationalists and originally that’s the ideology Hitler spoke through. Once he had enough support he went lunatic on everyone. By that time it was too late for the German people to do anything about his madness. They recovered regardless though and have been VERY wary of mad men because they learned from their mistakes
@@watasht0ff360 there is a TON more nuance to it then that but that would require way to much time to even briefly go through. He also didn't just go crazy the moment he gained power. That slowly ramped up as he gained power and was even present at the beginning. Thats why he also gained and had so many followers and the rest kept quiet because they had families, friends, etc to protect. A good book is Ordinary Men. Its about a normal police force in germany at the time and how these normal officers slowly became ruthless killers.
@@brandonvallier4214 I know all of that and I’ve read the book a couple of times. Now I actually want to have a chat with you about all this and add to my own knowledge. Mind if I give you my socials?
In this case, it's probably less knowing that Oktoberfest exists and more about experiencing it himself. It wasn't celebrated in America until the 60s, so Steve wouldn't have had the chance. And he was only 15 when the Nazis took power, so it's quite unlikely he would have gone to Germany for it (especially since Goody Two Shoes Rogers wouldn't even think of having a drink before his 21st, at which point the war had started and Oktoberfest cancelled)
Yes but the list is to tell cap the things he missed, not to let the viewers know things that happened ofc we know about the Berlin Wall but he doesn’t
Yes but also remember, Steve was in the USA those years. Your confident everyone in the USA knew of these on the 1920's? I can tell you oktoberfest was like 60's when it actually came to USA, and a Google search lists 1960s for currywurst in GERMANY so I doubt it was In USA in 1920
That had to do mostly with the fact that his fingers partially covered a few of those selections making them hard to edit. Each country actually has like 4 or 5 while several remained constant like nirvana and I love Lucy.
The Oktoberfest one makes zero sense though, since the point of the book was that these are things that happened after him being frozen, while the Oktoberfest has been around for way longer. And why would an American, specifically a New Yorker, care about currywurst when he hasn't planned to go to Germany for sightseeing anyways, and probably is very defensive about Hot Dogs and other New York specialities. It's not like Cap had an interest in foreign food like Tony (shwarma) did
@@Matt..SI'd like to think he just wants to experience what Germany is like now that it's peaceful since his only experience in that country before being frozen was fighting nazis.
@@Fools_BladeSolely for the sake of avoiding controversy, the comic already explained Hydra doesn't like the Nazis and are only within their ranks because of their power and believing they could win the war. I personally like the idea of Hydra being a silent faction of the Nazis but that obviously would come with a lot of issues from the audiences.
The Belgians do and by the same name too, although I refuse to believe that they don’t fry sausage in Some way in Germany somewhere. If they REALKY don’t then I need to visit, I learned a Korean trick for frying cheap sliced sausage that I think would genuinely sell well in Germany and the European market in general, even more so with meat prices being as they are.
@@ryanstauffer119He didn't lol, it's a story that's been taken wayyyy out of context by the woke part of the internet. John Lennon hit his girlfriend before they were married because he thought she was cheating on him with his best friend Stu, whom he always thought was extremely handsome and saw his girlfriend dancing with him while he was drunk. John's girlfriend immediately broke up with him and John had to apologize for several months and how never to hit her again if he wanted her back. He never hit her again and they got married. Snowflakes on the internet like to rearrange this story to fit their narrative into John Lennon being a wife and child beater. He was sh*tty deadbeat father to his first child but he wasn't a wife or child beater. You can look up the actual facts from actual interviews from people who knew him. At the end of the day it's just woke people on the internet trying to cancel another celebrity and gaslighting people into believing their bs. The guy above us is probably someone who fell victim to the gaslighting and lies on the internet too
@@ryanstauffer119he didn't, that's a lie told on the internet a lot. If you look up interviews from people who knew him, it would say he's a bad father and cheated a lot on his wife, but that's the same with a lot of rock stars tbh which isn't good either. Anyway the real story is that he hit his girlfriend once after he thought she was cheating on him with his best friend, and he never hit her again cuz she threatened to leave him if he did. But he wasn't a wife and child beater like most people imply
The Russian list also includes the famous singer and actor Vysotskiy, who was like one of the Soviet icons. And the classical movie "Moscow doesn't believe in tears" which is a melodrama about women coming to Moscow to find love and happiness. It's SUPER touching. Anyway, Cap has a very good taste in soviet classics)
Reminds me of my mom watching a lot of her old childhood russian films and Europeans films in general. Gotta start watching them too. The music and black and white/oldie vibes are great.
@@diorraices9013 Well not really. I don't knew when they should have change it. Got the blue-ray at home and was irritating. Get it as a German in Germany. Mine is showing the exact same list then the USA version. It's also irritating since if movies or games get a other version it's normally for the whole European Union at once since it doesn't make any sense to produce something for 1 land only and instead aiming for all with every subtitle and audio.😅
@@natem1579wait seriously? I don’t remember that in history classes. But I guess that makes sense cause if the Allies did those would’ve been top priority rescue missions
They weren't forced to do it. They CHOSE to do it, feeling that even though he was Captain AMERICA, he would come to the defense/protection of anyone anywhere in the world, because that's his nature/character.
@@mks9469 Again, it wasn't an afterthought - they planned to do that from the beginning. They already needed to provide credits in all the other languages, as well as hire local actors to do the foreign language voice dubs - why is it so hard to believe they planned ahead for swapping out one extra shot also?
@@Ziz62266 But why? We, European people, can understand that's an American character living in the U.S. so it doesn't make sense for him to hear about German or British things primarily. Do they think we're dumb?
You know what's more insulting? The fact that flat earthers and moon landing deniers exist in our real life. I get people still worship gods and such, which is totally fine. But seriously this is 2024! How tf do flat earthers still persist ...
@@pixelpup01no they didn't. The one they used in Oz only had "Space Travel", the Russian had Yuri Gagarin, and then Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, and Korea don't mention space at all.
@watasht0ff360 it's pretty obvious if you think about it. The list was catered to each specific country showing significant cultural milestones, people, or events. That if he was from that country he would have missed. So it makes it feel more relevant. It helps the people in that specific country connect better to the character.
Actually, if you think about it it makes even less sense. Captain AMERICA, is an AMERICAN who serves AMERICA in AMERICA. It makes things make even less sense when you make him write down things he missed out about countries that have nothing to do with him. Captain Germany shouldn’t be writing about how he missed out on what happened during or after Apartheid or missing out on District 9. That would be absurd. All the information that concerns Captain America about Germany he would have been debriefed about after the ice. Everything else that’s pop culture related is unnecessary because it’s pop culture literally everyone knows about them. For example, not everyone watches Star Wars but it’s know all around the world it’s not an American thing, same for James Bond he’s not just well known or immensely loved by British people. No changes were required at all or am I missing something about what you said to me? To be clear, I am still very calm and my tone isn’t one of malice. I know it’s not always easy to tell through text so I want to make it clear
As a German, that change is beyond stupid. He's an American war hero and his interests lie with his country, its achievements and history like a true patriot's should. If anything, they could've added historic events, not replaced them.
The change is to give international audiences a better scope of the important events he missed. If they just left major American events in worldwide, international audiences would be confused. Similar to how many Americans probably don't even know about the Munich Massacre, fewer know about Berlin becoming the Capitol again in the 90s, and even less about... something about the RAF? I don't even know about that one
@@TrueFlameslingerI agree with OP. The things on his list should generally be either American or world focused. Having Sean Connery, Vladamir Vystoskiy or Spain’s 1978 Constitution makes zero fucking sense for an American superhero operating from New York, and it feels insulting to its audiences.
@@TrueFlameslingerand in what ways are the munich massacre, Berlin becoming the capitol again, the Oktoberfest or Currywurst historic events? Same goes for many other changes for other languages. This just feels stupid and not compareable to the American events at all
But not very entertaining. Imagine sitting and watching Captain America and nothing makes any sense because the character is American. Hollywood is enjoyed the world over yknow
@@playstationarusu has somebody living in New Zealand and quite aware that Hollywood is enjoyed the world over but one of the list Port Captain America was only British icon add imagine if you're interested enough to look at a list for a movie prop it might make more sense to be seen to the character like I'm not trying to pickle on it it just doesn't make sense it's like people changing the red white and blue to different flags on Captain America's costume because people might want to see their own countries flag it's a little silly
@@playstationarusudude it's one scene where you would have to pause and pay close attention to even notice it. They barely changed anything else about the movie.

That dude is a LEGEND in Germany. They shoulda had him running Hydra now that I think about it. Imagine following K.I.T.T. to the location of the soul stone
Yeah, and the fall of the Berlin wall was purely an American thing, as anybody who went to school in the USA hallucinates it. Interestingly, in the whole shebang, there was zero Amerivan involvement, when East-Germans insisted on an implementation of Gorbachev's Perestroika in East-Germany in 1988/1989. And then they stormed the wall, ad yet again without any US support. I.e., in it's purely chauvinistic fashion of condensed ignorance they happily ignored the existence of a Sowjet driven German country, thr Peresrokoa, the free elections in 1990, the referendum for the re-unification, and it's inplementation.
For those not in the know, Steve is a poor kid in the bronx in the '40s. So, even before the super soldier program, he didn't know more than a handful of those things. Let alone experience them. And after Cap awoke from his coma in the 2000's, he felt like the world moved-on without him, and he is just playing catch-up with time. So what does a man backlogged on things to do, do? Make a list and write off each one he has experienced.
He wouldn't have known any of the events. He was frozen in a block of ice. As to what he would and wouldn't know. Before the internet we had news papers and radio to get world news. It wasn't the stone ages.
Australia's was a little different too. Ours had AC/DC, space travel, Steve Irwin (Rest in peace to that bloody legend), Skippy the Bush Kangaroo and Tim Tams, but of course it still had the ones that remained the same across all versions (those being Thai, Star Wars/ Trek, Nirvana (yikes), Rocky (and Rocky 2) and Troubleman).
