What Causes DUCATI Engines To Wear Out so FAST in INDIA?
Do you really wish to protect your engine?
Ducati makes some of the most advanced and fastest motorcycles in the world but what's the use if they are unreliable. The known Indian dusty conditions and unsuitable air filtration system causes most abnormal engine wear which is hard to digest.
It is high time, Ducati takes most urgent action to arrest the premature wear of Ducati engines.
If you wish to protect your engine, may be few inputs as brought out in this video might help.
Each failure has an opportunity to expand but only if we dare to accept the failure.

Hello sir I came across your RU-vid channel through the thread you had posted on the diavel forum, I have a 2016 ducati diavel 1198 stealth . I have faced the exact same diavel issue as Mr Gaurav went through with his bike. I was out for a morning ride and all of a sudden the engine cut off and all the oil dripped, couldn’t hear any engine noise as I was all geared up with music playing in my helmet. Ducati legacy motors Pune told me that this is a very rare case of engine failure and they haven’t come across any such issue. Did some research, went through the diavel forum to only find out that there are many other bikes which went through similar issues as doing lots of researches I went through your post which mentioned the exact same issue as mine. Please advise me regarding how do get my bike fixed as I’ve seen enough number of suggestions that have kept me sane and confused. Ducati legacy motors Pune mentioned the repair might cost me 7-12 whooping lakhs which is more than the value of the bike. I am completely out of knowledge as this is the first Superbike I have owned,I bought the diavel pre owned with only 7300 kilometres. Rode the bike hardly for 3-3500 kilometres and the engine failed. Had got the bike inspected too at 9k kilometres as I had to get the fuel sensor replaced and as per the skilled technicians recommendation the bike needed no work and was fit for long rides. Even before the engine failure the bike had zero errors. Please suggest me sir how do I get my bike fixed is there any way that I could get the bike fixed. Your time and knowledge would be highly appreciated and of a lot value to me. Please also tell me if there’s any way I can contact you so that I can get my head cleared off with the issues of my bike as I’ve been really tensed lately. Thank you.

I have noticed traces of engine oil in my ktm adv 390 air box. does it mean there are issues with the engine valves? You're content is amazing. I love that.
@WingstoWheels

Ktm390Adventure have nil such issues. Yes since the air filter is oiled it catches dirt very fast which is its prime objective. So just ride and enjoy.

So this is what I had been fighting for that many Ducati bike engines are damaged in India beyond economical repairs due to dust & sand. Engine oil mixed with dirt further damages vintage desmodromic valves. In a few cases, lack of lubrication has caused Catastrophic failures. So all those who have these issues must read this article, dated 3 Apr 2023. www.autocarindia.com/auto-features-amp/looking-to-manufacture-in-india-in-future-ducati-sales-vp-427749 In conversation with Marco Biondi, President, Sales and Marketing, Ducati APAC Joining him was Bipul Chandra, Managing Director, Ducati India.

So does this mean using after market oil’ed air filters in India is good to use like K&N, BMC, DNA, etc etc ???
@WingstoWheels
@WingstoWheels Год назад
Issues are related to the quality of paper filters and also the air box sealing. If you look at the earlier model of Diavel, it had the worst fitting because of which dirt used to enter from the sides. So, depending on what model you use, it has to be a combination of activities to see that dirt is arrested in air filter casing itself. For this, if you shift to an oil filter, certainly it could be a better choice. However, if facing issues, do these tasks right in front of the Ducati team. Very recently, in case of one Multistrada, 950 whole case of dirt entry to throttle body is made and sent to Italy.

Is this a problem in the newer bikes as well? I was looking to get a Streetfighter V2, but this is concerning.

Download the owner's manual from the Ducati website and read page No. 217 which reads ....... IMPORTANT: “Using the motorcycle under extreme conditions, such as damp and muddy roads or dusty and dry environment, could cause above-average wear of components like the drive system, the brakes or the air filter. If the air filter is dirty, the engine could get damaged. Therefore, this might translate in required service or replacement of the wear parts earlier than specified in the scheduled maintenance chart”. The manufacturer himself says if used in a dusty environment, it can cause above-average wear. So decide accordingly, if I am making sense.

Why only Ducati this issue can happen with any bike regardless of the manufacture.

You will find the main answer to your question in this video. If you wish to go deeper, you need to compare many things starting with quality of air filter, whole air intake design, rubber sealing, compression ratio, desmo valve design etc etc. ... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FcbdsoEyduE.html

Sir, have you ever had stalling issues with your KTM 390 adventure? If so, how did it get solved?
@WingstoWheels
@WingstoWheels 2 года назад
As per my experience dusty conditions add to the issue of engine stalling. So yes, KTM will stall if your air filter is clogged. Plus there is a software update too. The good part is that the dirt trapped in oiled filter will protect your engine. If right filter costs just Rs 288, may be you can change it at an early interval if facing issue of stalling.

@@WingstoWheels Okay, will definitely change the filter early the next time. Got the pressurised one throttle body cleaning done the 2nd time. Software update, spark plug cleaning, O2 sensor cleaning, fuel pipe change; nothing seem to work.

There's very few or nil videos showcasing the truth. No wonder why there r so many ducati bikes in used market.
@WingstoWheels

unfortunately, riders with whom major things have happened decided to keep quiet because their motorcycle within the warranty period was repaired. After the warranty, if any issue, they will also be treated like many others.
