Here are some causes of pressure and air buildup in the cooling system:
1. System not properly "Bleeded"
2. Cracks in the overflow tank
Signs of air buildup, and and pressure:
1. Bulges in the "Hoses"
2. "Bubbling" at the hose connections

Change the thermostat first....then have it flushed or you might have a pin hole leak somewhere if it's has a leak...look for a leak first.

It could be a number of things....bad thermostat, low coolant, old coolant, clogged up coolant, leak in the radiator....check the thermostat first.
