I discuss the causes of pulsatile tinnitus and how to check for them. I talk about scans, blood tests, and some of the different conditions that cause this pulsing noise that can be heard. This is not an exhaustive list but you should have a better understanding of what doctors are looking for.

I had a heart beat in my ear for about 3 months. Turns out it was a chronic sinus infection. I hadn't put two and two together, but I also was waking up like I had a cold every morning. I had no sinus pain so I didn't know it was sinus. My GP saw fluid in my ear so she put me on prescription sinus spray and it worked. It took 2 months to go away but now it's totally gone. It's a long process but check your sinus. I had seen so many videos where everyone in comments said they couldn't cure it which is scary so happy to have found a cure for mine!

I'm happy that I'm not the only person who experience heartbeat in my ears.(or head). I've been having these since i experienced my first vertigo. I hope it goes away on its' own because I don't have any pain having it except it's a bit annoying at time and makes it hard to concentrate.

I have had pulsatile tinnitus for the past 7 years. From time to time I get a whooshing sound which goes to the beat of my heart. The most annoying thing is the echo sound I hear when talking. Almost as if I have water stuck in my ear, I can literally hear my voice echoing in my ear, terrible. I feel it has something to do with my eustation tube as it feels extremely tense on that side. Just asked my GP for a referral to you so hopefully we can get to the bottom of this so I can start living life again. Keep up the great work!!!

Thank you, I'm so glad I found your channel, I started with heart sounds in my ear a few weeks ago, I now think it could be Pulsatile Tinnitus, I have no anxiety or stress and no idea why it started, I have been to my GP who listened to my heart and asked me to tap out the sound I was hearing and it was basically the rhythm of my heart. I have been trying to think what may have caused it? I recently went to the dentist which left me with a clicky jaw, also I've been clenching my teeth while asleep, could either of these have set it off?

I developed mild tinnitus and very mild pulsatile tinnitus on the right side following my second Bout of COVID-19 in one year. I had a complete cardiac work up two months ago so I can eliminate that as a cause. My MD prescribed a Medrol dose pack and Zyzal antihistamine. I’m hoping this will resolve on its own, of course, but if not, I am very appreciative of information like that in this video.

I had periodic pulsatile tinnitus on my right hand side, along with periods of dizziness, sharp pains in my right ear (I am prone to ear infections and familiar with ear pain...these were different...brief, lasting only 10 seconds to a minute, but so intense that the first time it happened I stupidly called out to my husband for help) Along with constant, terrible heartburn and digestive upset, whole body exhaustion (at it's worst I would just lay down wherever I was...even the kitchen floor...and just rest for a few minutes. Once I woke up after having unintentionally slept like that for two hours). I started losing my voice all the time. I kept getting raw patches in my mouth and got esophageal thrush twice in a year after never having had it in my life (despite excellent oral hygiene and regular dental visits) And, scariest of all, micro episodes of pins and needles sensations in small parts of the right hand side of my face and even my tongue.... I had also begun snoring terribly. This all began after we moved into a new home, and I had a very bad flu followed by a severe bought of dehydration. My GP at the time was horrible. I think I saw him five times in a year, and he never sent me for a single test, never referred me to anyone else, and didn't even look in the hurting ear. He would just say, "well I don't know, you look fine to me. Are you drinking enough water?" And I would leave either feeling ashamed that I had bothered him for nothing, or distressed that he wouldn't examine me or give me any help. I had to almost beg him to look in my mouth to see the thrush and give me a scrip. It was my ob GYN along with the chiropractor I started seeing for aches and pains who urged me to seek more help, in case I had MS, so I kept going back for help. Then, one day, my GP was just gone from the practice....gone from practice all together! Instead when I had my appointment, I saw a nurse practitioner who was very alarmed and promptly sent me to an ENT/allergist and a GI doctor. It turns out I had developed a slew of severe allergies. I was allergic to every environmental allergen they tested me for, (Including every tree....and we had moved into a home with a wood pellet stove! The wood dust from when I was cleaning and loading it alone was making me really sick) I also had a blocked right sinus that was so swollen, the ENT suspected it was pressing on nerves. My right ear was full of fluid, the tube was blocked and my ear canal was covered in crusted over hives. I had also become intolerant of several foods, and the internist found my stomach and throat inflamed, with gastritis (but no celiac, thankfully!) And on my own, but with encouragement from my dentist, I discovered that I had become sensitive to a common toothpaste ingredient. I found a toothpaste without it, cut a third of the food options out of my diet, avoided some environmental allergens, got an air purifier, and went on a daily antihistamine and probiotic..... Wow. Night and day. I had been very scared that something was gravely wrong with me. It turns out, I just needed a GP to send me to an allergist or GI doctor instead of taking my copay and then saying "you look fine to me....drink some water and try not to stress. I'll see you next year"

This is a great video! I recently had a vascular mass respected that was originally thought to be a glomus tumor. Pathology report came back and it turns out it wasn't a para, but more likely a hemangioma, which I heard these don't usually form in the area it was found. Unfortunately my PT hasn't gone away, but I was told this might be related to the ICA being exposed because the mass eroded the bone around it.

So many times, the simplest reason/cure is right in front us. I had all these indications as well (see below) - so I just took and spent 4-5 mornings just cleaning out my ears with murine ear drops and cleaning my ears out with a warm water tooth spray pump. Its gone, I mean, gone, no more sounds of heartbeat; plus, I have my hearing back. Good luck.

Hi Vik, I frequently get a loud buzzing similar to a car or bus engine idling (best I can describe it) in my left ear, most commonly obvious at night when lying down, this usually only happens a few times a year and lasts 7-10 days, I’m not sure if being in an anxious circle of thought is what causes it as blood pressure will likely be higher, I don’t smoke, drink or take any medication or drugs, do you think this may be pulsatile tinnitus?

Hey does anyone else get… pulsing pain too as well, that is with the sound heard in ear (in my case on right side, feel in head too) severe pain pulsing in rhomboid, burning pain across shoulders, pulsing pain in neck and migraine sometimes up to the eyes. All the symptoms came about together, (I never had any of them before) late 2022, so now over a year with all of these debilitating symptoms. It’s been so amazingly challenging and everyday for over a year, it’s a been hell. I share this out of desperation, but also to share symptoms to see if anyone else has similar, so we can hopefully solve this horrible issue… I tell you, life isn’t worth living if I knew this was forever… please share everyone if you have had similar issues to me. Thank you very much.

Just had a quick question, so basically I was just relaxing sitting down watching RU-vid on my tv and then out of nowhere I felt a little tump like a heart beat in my ear like one single pulse for literally one second, I started panicking very hard, but like it never came back after, it literally just happened once or twice in one minute and just completely went away, just wanted to confirm with you is it normal? I really just started panicking and overthinking about it convincing myself I have a very big issue due to googling.

The pulsating in my left ear began approx 3 months ago. It is an extremely erratic pulsation and is constant, 24/7. The echo noise I hear from this pulation is extremely draining and causing difficulty in consentration and disruption in sleep. My Dr made an urgent referral to ENT for which I had appointment last week. The specialist did all relevant checks of ears, nose and throat and confirmed all looking healthy. He is referring me for an MRI scan to rule out any other possibilities causing this problem. I wish I could stop this 😢. The erratic pace of this pulsing makes me feel anxiety in my chest, which feels like heart palpitations and between both pulsating at different rates leaves me feeling totally drained. Any suggestions on redusing this pulsation or even a technique to stop this would be welcomed advise 🙏

Also, what about neck problems I had a bad neck surgery several years ago and had few symptoms at the time but now I'm having a lot of pain a typical or neck problems MRI indicates some impingement of nerves and I have noticed a lot of pain down into my shoulders and mid back. Actually took a fall last year and fell square on my thoracic spine MRI at the time and show any problem with my thoracic but did show my neck was worsening not sure what that means I think the canal was getting narrow. I've had terrible tinnitus in both of my ears for many years but it's not pulsing. I have a significant PAST history of migraine headaches and dizzy spells. I developed sudden onset hearing loss in my left ear in the Summer of 2011. I don't believe that there is any hope or cure for my problem. I just have to live with it. 😕

I was swamped, and this wooshing sound in my right popped out of nowhere. My exhaustion/feeling fatigued was part of a wake-up call yesterday too. I was diagnosed years ago with a leaky valve, and I a starting to think that is part of the problem. Why am I so dizzy? Is this anything like vertigo?

@VikVeerENTSurgeon please help me identify this strange thing, my doctor cant explaine this. one day i felt a strong pulse almost like electricity coming from my brain and going down my spine and torso, i can increase this pulsation and focus on it by flexing and contracting the muscles of my face. just moments after that, every muscle in my body contracts and relaxes making almost like i'm shivering from extreme cold and its uncontrollable and hard to breath, even my pen_is is retreating like never before please help me understand this. it only happened twice in my life.

I have had ringing in my ears since I can remember my existence. It is a very tiring and lonely feeling, because no one in my environment experiences tinnitus as long and as strongly as I do, and I went to doctors (neurologists) several times and each time they did not examine anything - once they even suggested homeopathic medicines😄 5 years ago I had an MRI examination and during his time, he found several vascular foci in the brain, but said that it was completely unserious and probably did not indicate anything. And in my life I have had a bunch of neurological symptoms all the time - like months of shortness of breath, body numbness, swollen lip and constant ringing in my ears - sometimes so loud it just drives me crazy...and never ends. And the doctors just explain that it's all psychosomatic, and I'm constantly afraid and in the dark, I'm very afraid of dying. I've been under a lot of stress this whole month and a week ago the tinnitus got really intense and I started having a pulse in my ears, a pulse in my head and pain in my ears and that really scares me and drives me crazy. Do not know what to do. I'm so scared, I feel like I'm going crazy.

I get you entirely ! Had tinnitus bout 8 years now. One Dr. said very unhelpfully " sometimes we just don't know the answers " Unbelievable. It's to do with the brain area responsible for audio frequency and it gets all confused so the neurons are confused and it's bounced back as noise. I can't even get the nhs to look at my sinus properly which I think is where it all started. Pm if you want some moral support. Fellow sufferer.

Shortness of breath with exertion. Shortness of breath when lying flat. Fatigue. Unpleasant awareness of your heartbeat (palpitations) Swelling in your legs, abdomen, and the veins in your neck. Chest pain or tightness with exertion. Strong pulses felt in the neck.

I have had tinnitus in both ears for seven years, especially pulsating but not always pulsating, in my case I have the sensation that it is related to my neck, I have a small cervical hernial protusion, a very straight neck and I somatize any tension behind my neck, if I open my mouth hard as to uncork the ears the sound changes and especially if I turn my head to the right or left .... in the past I have had chiropractic treatment hoping to improve but in my case it has only worsened my tinnitus ..

Hi, I would appreciate if you can amswer my q. I am getting a very fast tapping sound in my right ear. It normally appeared when my right eye is in a stress. My right eye also gets a sensation when this happens. I met an ENT surgeon and he recommended M.Prednisolone and Fexet. Also recommended to get vax removed using Olive oil. I am trying to figure out how this eye and ear thing connected and wondering whether I should meet a neurologist although the ENT didn't speak of anything about that.

I have a whooshing sound that is synchronized with my heartbeat in my left ear only. I also have a heaviness and pressure in my head that worsens when I’m stressed or I don’t sleep well. I hear a lot of people talk about the whoosh but never mentioning pressure. I also have occasional nausea but that passes quickly. Once every couple weeks a feel slight chest pain passes in a few seconds. I thought it may be stress. No dizziness, vertigo, numbness or balance issues either. My ears and eyes have been checked and are normal. Neurological physical exam normal. My full blood count is normal. Lipid panel normal. No anemia or high blood pressure. Thyroid gland normal. I just had a baby 17 months ago. My tinnitus started 3 months ago.

You are a flargon from the planet tarea in the canis minor system. You have two hearts. One supplies a constant flow of blood to your brain and the other supplies blood to your six legs. At night when you dream of chasing down the dreaded niotex beasts who dwell in the frigid tundras of your world your second heart increases its flow to 130 BPM to propel you to an average speed of 57 kph allowing you to catch a niotex and milk it for its highly narcotic lactations.
