Kids don't know how the old guard had it - it was really war on the field and the referees? Horrid. Bad fields, insane physicality and bias to bigger clubs more or less - my respect for people like Dunc is endless.
❤ that big Dunc got a mention. As a centre half who loves an header, who knows a forward you hate playing against. Dunc would play me at my own game, win, and id be dreading the next fixture.
Oh he knows players he pays attention that’s what he claims Wenger brought out of him he was playing with his head down eyes closed Wenger taught him to open everything including eyes in the back of his head goal v Man Utd kick up spin an volley
@@josephcole8046I would say he has a lot of humility about himself. It's that we tend to generalize people who have a bit of grit or determination about them, coupled with confidence as being arrogant. Being humble doesn't mean being timid as well.
@@anutoldlegend89 Nah I see Henry on that CBS talk show and he is completely full of himself. Always tries too hard to be the coolest in the room, say something novel.
@@mightymoeishyeah I’ve noticed that on the CBS clips too…thinks he’s better than everyone n the panel, likes to impress the lady but Jamie Carragher and Micah Richard’s do suck up to him a bit too much
@Promislandzion Henry is better player than any striker in the world right now. If Mbappe is best the world has now then Henry would simply be the best player in the world right now.
So modest, drogba outstanding at keeping the ball and shooting. Henry used to skin players and score week in week out, he floated and nobody could get near him, I'd say he was pretty good at keeping the ball and shooting.
@@notreal1477 Henry is twice the player. Scored 175 goals 74 assists in 258 appearances, Drogba scored 104 goals 64 assists in 254 appearances. Im sorry but there’s levels to this shit. (United fan)
When Henry was at Arsenal, I remember he always used to talk about strikers that he studied in England. The likes of Ferguson, Kevin Davies, and even players down in the lower leagues. There was a part of Henry that loved that physical element - he didn't shy away from it at all.
One of the best generational talents the game has ever seen and yet he's so exceptionally humble and gracious of the career he had. It's refreshing to hear him talking about how good he was and all name drop players who had attributes that he admired that in his excellence he understood made them talented in their own way. Absolutely love this man and he isn't just a national treasure to France, England or anywhere he has graced he is a global treasure and when he talks we listen.
Henry is so right, I’ve said it for years that some of the strikers from the mid-90’s to mid-00’s would have a field day in modern football and the way the rules are so heavily in the favour of the attacking player! Look at Michael Owen, in 7 full seasons with Liverpool he scored 117 goals in 214 appearances but was absolutely kicked viciously week in, week out, had his shirt pulled and so on. … put him in the right team built to get the most out of him today and there would be defenders getting red cards left, right and centre
I agree but ultimately it was his body that let him down that would still be the case today. The physio/science/research etc etc has all improved for players but you can’t fix genetics. Owen was gifted with blistering pace but it came at a cost. Just like Ronaldo Nazario had knee problems all his life. There is always a pay off to a unique ability.
@@michaelthomas8439well he never won many European trophies with arsenal…usually if you win titles in your country and follow it up with European Cup for club you got a good chance At France it was Zidane who was carrying the team and was winning everything at Real or whichever club he was at
He was robbed he deserved it that one year but no that blonde fuck got it that year & he didn’t even deserve it bruh titi scored more goals & got way more assist
@@misterpacha1 As a Rover I have to agree. Shearer was on another level and only Henry could match him. Two very different, but truly outstanding players Edit... I would add Matt le Tissier actually. Just unreal players
@@dimwitdave9344 I get that Shearer was loyal but man. Watching these loyal players not fulfilling bigger trophies and wins by going to a better club then coming back and doing the same for their old club in my opinion is a way better thing than languishing in a lower team and remaining only a legend in that team is a little sad.
Someone said, "Thierry led two generations into being Arsenal fans then left, and Arsenal has never been the same, but the fans can't seem to leave. That's why he is a Legend"
@@ytalorafael9710this is why people like you have awful knowledge, the game changes and adapts every decade. Henry is the reason why we have fast and agile centre backs now and why wingers are more reserved in dribbling due to this
I think Rooney was molded in its likeness - if anyone was born for it it's Erling. Hilariously tall and broad, fast enough, skilled enough and well placed enough to punish you routinely no matter how you defend him.
@@blue-pi2kt what is the difference between being born for it and being molded in its likeness? I cite Neo in the matrix. He was molded in its likeness and also born for it. Can you explain the difference?
@@DirtyJamesUK literally from another continent, fam. Chill. Rooney is a striker in the image of English football. A nugget of a man, immensely capable and if you saw him on the street wouldn't guess he was a world leading athlete, most importantly he liked the physicality. You wouldn't say he was meant for it, merely he grew up in the game and was molded by its physicality. Erling is literally like a player built in a FIFA game. There has been players that big before but never as strong, athletic and skilled. He is comparatively wasted in Ligue 1 or Serie A ie born for English football.
@@blue-pi2kt that's not true at all but thanks for explaining. Thousands of footballers grow up in the game in England. Rooney was clearly very unique. Perhaps that escaped your attention but its definitely true. Funnily enough Haaland is one of very few youngsters I rated highly and would have liked at United. Wayne was the first player I really hoped we'd sign. I hoped we'd sign Haaland for a bit so he was the 2nd. I'm glad we didn't though. I wouldn't have liked to watch his career go badly at United. City was the better choice for the lad.
I think he's saying I wasn't a unit like Ferguson he wasn't a top class goal poacher as shearer was he didn't have the ball control of drogba but he had a mix of all those with pace he was the reason that the striker position ceased to exist as it did previously no like a winger playing up top he would of had so many more goals playing in today's game ahead of his time absolute machine the last striker and first ever false nine/winger genius of a player set the game up as is now wow
While he was still very much a baller while playing for us in Barcelona, Arsenal Henry was a menace. Only C. Ronaldo even approached Henry’s level and while he went on to surpass him at Madrid, none have bested Henry in the Premier League playing wide.
@@KJR1905 Youre arguing a striker who only hit 30 leage goals once and who always went missing in finals. Is the 2nd best player of the last 30 years. Loooooooool I will let other people decide who is talking nonsense. looooooool. what a terrible shout.
That's why i have huge respect gor Defenders of this decade. They have to be so composed & accurate in tackles. Imagine vidic, keane, viera, Campbell playing now they won't even play 18 full games the whole season
As a Liverpool fan I hated this man but with the grace of passing years I can admit that he was probably the most beautiful footballer of his generation
Of course it is...the game is played by 2 teams of 11 and the referee is God. Your job as a player is to make your country win. The God's job along with his helpers is to stop any illegal activity. If he fails to do so it's on him. It's simple really.
It seems like a lot of “big stars” come to the premier league and expect to boss it based on their previous pedigree. Henry seems like he treated it with respect and wanted to adapt himself to the league rather than expecting the league to adapt to him. What a player
There were so many talented and skillful players in those days - Ronadinho, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Zidane, Henry, Madlini, Vieri, Eto are just a few of the many that can be mentioned.
Drogba was unreal at keeping the ball. I remember we where 1 nil down and there was 4 mins of extra time and I'm thinking we might get one more chance to equalize, he literally kept the ball at the corner flag for the whole 4 mins. It was hard and amazing to watch at the same time.
