What Could Have Been: Channing Tatum's Gambit 

Tatum wanting it a smaller scale and more personal sounded like a very good idea actually, especially a "Heist" movie

I'm really hoping Channing Tatum can finally make a cameo as Gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine so we can finally get that paid off!

I think Marvel needs a mixture of films and TV series to really do a deep dive into mutants lore.

It genuinely pisses me off that the only reason they kept shelving Gambit in the X-Men movies is because Bryan Singer had such a massive raging hard-on for Wolverine he did not want anyone stealing any screentime - or audience attention - from Logan. And then Singer just abandons the franchise because as it turns out he had an even bigger raging hard-on for Superman.

After watching X-men 97’s Gambit. I really hope the MCU does his character justice if they bring him to live action. I love Wolverine as much as the next fan but come on let other characters have the spotlight for once…

This actually sounds like it would’ve been an alright movie only thing that’s kinda wack is the Sinister being his father twist

I find it weird that Fox were so desperate to do Mr Sinister during this era but it just never worked out. Between the Apocalypse post credits, the Essex drug plot point in this movie, Essex owning the orphanage in Deadpool 2 and his cut appearances in New Mutants and Dark Phoenix it’s just so weird they built him up but never did a single thing with him

Channing’s voice in The Hateful 8 is what I picture Gambit voice would be. Except with some more Cajun twang

Haven't read a lot of the comics but I think Taylor kitch did a good job with gambit in wolverine origins. Would of liked to see him get another shot.

If that's the script, they would have done Sinister dirty. He sounds like just a regular human mad scientist / evil businessman, rather than an immortal Victorian genius who has a bunch of powers himself Gambit should haven't have been a romance or a comedy; it should have been a tragedy, leading up to the Morlock Massacre and Gambit's part in it. Assembling a crew for Sinister to commit crimes in the lead up to this sounds like a good idea, but Sinister himself needed to be a more imposing and dangerous villain, who wouldn't need his henchmen to kick Gambit's ass. Ending the movie with Sinister winning and Gambit fleeing in guilt and horror would have packed more of a punch imo.

I knew this was in development hell for a long time, but i had no idea that Channing as Gambit went all the way back to X3

Great video, the plot sounds fun and Channing Tatum is cool casting. Mr. Sinister as a villain would be great, he's a major antagonist who hasn't seen the big screen yet and with the right actor could be a stellar villain for an X-Men movie. My suggestion for a video would be What Could Have Been: Tim Story's Fantastic Four 3. I know you talked about Fantastic Four 2015 already and those movies were briefly mentioned in the video but I think it would make for a great video.

I really hope Gambit is done justice if he appears in the MCU. Been a fan of his ever since X Men animated series and X Men 97 has only made me like him more. The idea of a heist film sounds perfect for Gambit given his backstory. 50/50 on whether Channing Tatum would have been the right actor to play Gambit. I guess we'll never know 🤷‍♂️

It's such a shame this film never came to be. Sounds more interesting than most Marvel projects today.

I often Wonder if Tatum doing Logan Lucky was him testing the waters of what he could do in Gambit. Also I remember that at some point someone put in IMDb that Frank Darabont was going to direct the movie.

I hope Tatum gets to play Gambit someday I think it'd be ccol to see and it appears he has the same love for the character as Ryan does for Deadpool. Whilst on the cancelled X-Men movie train you should cover X-Men Origins: Magneto

Ah man! Keanu Reeves was my choice in the 90's to play Gambit. As a fan of the cartoon my friends and I would try and cast the announced movie. Obviously Patrick Stewart as Xavier. I also thought Denis Leary had the attitide and manner to play Gambit. Great video, as always!

I remember back when the movie was first being talked about and Tatum was first attached to the role. People were shitting on the idea but I always thought it had potential and that Tatum was a good pick. Now I’m hearing about the original script, and it confirmed it for me. Because that sounded like it would’ve been a cool movie. I don’t want to put too many hopes into this, but it would be cool if either Tatum makes an appearance as Gambit in DP&W, or if he becomes the officially Gambit of the MCU going forward. Or hell, maybe even both!

Eventually I wanna see you do the X-Men vs Fantastic Four (feat. Daredevil and Deadpool) Civil War movie, it had some interesting ideas and the post credits scene would have teased a Skrull Invasion, definitely intriguing to think if Fox could have pulled off a shared universe crossover with the Marvel characters they owned the rights to

There was also the cancelled Multiple Man movie with James Franco that seemed pretty interesting. Might make for an interesting video, too.

I'm not the biggest Channing Tatum fan, but I was looking forward to this movie, and was bummed out at its cancellation. Kind of thought it was a good chance to change my mind about him too.

Hopefully Deadpool 3 will open the door back up for Gambit. I think Tatum is a great pick. He was good in Kingsman 2 and its a similar role to Gambit

I think there's a very good possibility that we see him finally get to play Gambit in one of the Phase 5 or 6 MCU projects, at least as a cameo if nothing else.

I feel like you could EASILY slot the original screenplay and Channing into the MCU because it barely has any connections.

I read this script. It was soooo good. Small scale, sexy, action packed, but sandwiched between apocalypse and dark Phoenix. There was this dope fight inside of a small bathroom 🤯 and ended with a long intricate heist.

What could have been the original mcu line up back in 2005 when Kevin Feige had planned to do: Ant-Man, The Avengers, Black Panther, Captain America, Cloak & Dagger, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, Power Pack, and Shang Chi. Now I know most of these characters have been done by them already but it’s cool to see Cloak and Dagger and Power Pack being there. Makes me wonder if the MCU still has something bigger planned for them as well.

What could of been: cancelled Godzilla 98 sequel pls.

Channing Tatum's passion for the character and that original script idea, plus my love for Gambit, make me really wish this movie had happened! If rumors are true that he'll be in Deadpool and Wolverine, I'll be really happy that he gets to at least do that. Maybe Marvel/Disney/Fiege can find a way to keep Tatum involved in a future project that features Gambit.

Have you seen Gambit's brief, accidental appearance in X-Men: The Last Stand? During Magneto's "We are the cure" speech, a long-haired actor in a dark trenchcoat is seen standing with the Brotherhood in just one shot. I've never heard it officially confirmed to be a stand-in for Gambit before they dropped the character, but that's definitely the assumption. (Apologies is someone else has mentioned this!)
