honestly i am not surprised. I'm french and i have been living here for about 7 years now and i'm a dual citizen and i have to say, the US has the capability to do so much more for its citizens but they rather get richer while people are losing their health over threats of if u are sick and u don't have sick time then u need to work regardless. More people need to wake up and stop saying that's how the USA is when other countries have copied of each other to make things right for its citizen. This documentary right here is just a tiny fraction of what everyone is facing right now: On onslaught from the American Capatalistic system.
Healthcare - screwed Banking system - screwed Corruption - exceeding level 2,000,000 Insurance - In most cases a scam Taxes - don’t even get me started yall From the top to the bottom our country is fall apart. We need to start electing at the local level all the way to the presidency. Idgaf if you’re a dem or rep - we need to do something to save our country.
Not so shocking. Demoncrats want lots of illegals or any sort of immigrants for their voter base, and their fake opposition party, the Republicant's want them for the cheap labor for their fellow Corporatists in the Uni-Party, and both sides of that same coin make out. They don't care about you, me or the illegal invasives, though they can pretend that they do very, very well. Any exception does not make the rule and soon they will get with the program or they too will be looking for work outside of the corporatist-government teat
We cannot have a serious discussion about health care reform until lobbying is completely outlawed. You will never have affordable healthcare until big pharma and other healthcare companies are kicked out of Washington and forbidden to write laws. I
Thank you for covering this! Absolutely ridiculous that one of the biggest insurers doesn't give its employees health insurance. It's amazing how politicians always attack the poor for wanting "handouts" when those benefits are only necessary because companies aren't paying their employees enough to live.
@@missylks1239ok, see that’s part of the issue. every job opportunity in my area is only part time. on the listing, it says full, but you get there and find out you’re never gonna be scheduled above part time because they don’t want to give people benefits. so now, people have to have two to three part time jobs and none of them are providing benefits. you can’t treat people this way. more and more people are getting fed up.
They offer health care but it very expensive. When I was a bus driver, we insurance but it was most of your check so you keep your hours low so you can get medicaid. Most retailers does the same thing.
Well for a couple generations now Americans have been subjected to propaganda that makes us believe that the government is not supposed to take care of its people. It has conditioned us to believe that these social programs are “handouts” when in reality the rest of the world in developed nations they are making much more headway than we are here in America. I for life of me don’t understand what we’re supposed to be first in except for debt and cruelty.
The fact that half of this country can’t understand that corporate greed has skyrocketed since the pandemic and is the main reason prices are so high truly baffles me.
But poor people have ALWAYS struggled in this country. Life has ALWAYS been unaffordable for poor people and I’m speaking as someone who grew up poor and still is ( even if the government doesn’t want to admit it.) Middle class people are just poor people in denial. Either way, things have always been difficult and always will be, if you are poor. That’s the way they want it to stay, on all sides.
@@bartdoo5757 It's no Bidenomics. If Trump come in and reduce taxes, the prices of your stuff will not reduce for example. What would have been paid in taxes would just go back into the company as profits. If your income taxes are reduced, the price of good would simply increase because companies know you now have more money to pay for things. For profit companies no longer operate on the value of the product, but just operate to charge you as much as your free cash as possible and pay as little benefits as possible to staff. You should be angry about that, but chose to play petty politics instead.
Any large employer that has more than 1% of their employees on any form of public assitance needs to be fined severely, far more than the cost of the benefits.
It's bizarre to see how much the working class is struggling in a country so rich like US. I'm from Brazil, and even we have basic healthcare and medication. Our healthcare system is far from perfect, but I think if the US could implement something similar this would make a huge difference in these people's lives.
@@jmortier71Americans live as their founders intended. Suffering under all the hardships of life while secretly sighing for a more equal distribution of life's blessings.
The US can do many good things yet our politicians are in bed with powerful pharmaceutical companies, gun manufacturers, food companies that push salty and fatty diets. The vast majority of people in this country want positive changes yet our government is never held accountable for screwing people over. Look no further than the 45th president getting off scot free! I have a good friend who has been a US citizen for 26 years, but was born and living in Australia her first 24 years before marrying a US citizen. She is a long time pharmacist for Walgreens. She flies back to Australia for all her non emergencies healthcare because her company insurance is useless. She says its far cheaper to fly to Sydney from Missouri than it is to use her Walgreens health insurance.
@@bartdoo5757 Nope. Not concerned about climate change. The (hypothetical) plane is flying to and from Sydney anyway, and planes often have empty seats ie "unused capacity".

Another example of crappy, greedy corporations who doesn't care about any human being. My work insurance now using their mail order rx& it's so fouled up it's not usable. I use Walmart. Horrible business. They suck.
Sadly worker’s comp is an absolute nightmare. There’s no compensation for anything other than a physical injury and even that takes YEARS and so much fighting and suffering.
I have a broken front tooth that was repaired 35 years ago. It is failing and my dentist sent it in to Medicare for my 2500$ Medicare allowance for dental. United health denied it saying it was cosmetic. This is WRONG. I pay for this. I would be paying for part of it to be repaired and crowned. Not doing it for looks at this age but do I can eat.
I feel your pain. I’ve always had messed up teeth- extremely crooked, overcrowded, some grew where they shouldn’t have. never had dental insurance, can’t afford dental procedures. it’s not cosmetic. it freaking hurts. sometimes, my jaw aches so much it feels like my head is gonna explode. screw this freaking country man, just let the people suffer while the rich ride off into the sunset.
@@mrwonderful2142Not always that simple with medicare unfortunately. Not everybody knows insurance or how it works, and not every agent has your best interest at heart
Corporate greed is never satisfied, to keep employees subjugated, expendable and poor is one of their mantras. Hiring part time employees or self-employed contract workers has become the norm. You've taken the first step, which was to Unionize, but next you must VOTE and elect labor friendly representatives and continually remind them they work for you. It's your community and you are demanding a fair day's wage for a fair day's work. VOTE: our future depends on it.
@@Nursemidratz Are you rich and blind or poor and gullible? That's not what's going on and it's ignorant to insinuate that considering the cost of housing alone eats up over 60% of a lot of people's earnings. Think again, or rather maybe think for the first time.
@Nursemidratz - basic housing at the lowest price possible - a room in a boarding house - is more than my monthly income. I don't have any credit cards. Many of my contemporaries are in the same boat. Some have moved in with their children and grandchildren - and STILL can barely afford a roof over their heads. Monthly housing costs are so high most people are spending MORE than 60% of their monthly income. I don't know where you get your information but you're badly misinformed. Everyone should be able to afford SOME entertainment. Doesn't have to be an expensive vacation, a cruise, or a pricey motel stay - just something. Camping used to be fun and inexpensive. I've gone camping my entire life and even that is too expensive nowadays. Sites for a TENT are $60 or more a night. Some recreation is good for you - physically and mentally. Explain why you think everyone is "wasting money" and living beyond their means. You're completely out of touch with reality. This is NOT what we expected to have to deal with when we hit our "golden years". Things have changed so drastically in ways we never dreamed of or could have prepared for. The country is broken. Badly broken. And in your late 60s or 70s just how are you supposed to deal with it? It's not like we have years to bounce back. Many of us are dealing with the realities of old age. We don't have the energy we had at 40 or 50. We are wearing out. We tire much easier. This is how life works - you get old. You can't fight nature. There's no cure for old age. Just what do you suggest we do? If there ever does become a way to turn back the clock trust me - it will not be available to the average person. Only the very rich will be able to afford it. They aren't the ones who NEED to work into their 70s and 80s. They already have enough to relax and enjoy what time they have left. What is the answer to this? I know young people who work 3 jobs to afford a roof over their heads. What will they do when they can no longer keep that pace? And when the average guy works himself into an early grave who will the wealthy get to mow their lawns, clean their homes, maintain their homes - all the necessary work they don't want or know how to do? I wish everyone would realize this is a bad situation for ALL of us. A living wage, affordable housing, affordable healthy food, affordable medical care affects everyone in the end. What happens when you run out of people to do the maintenance? What happens when all the experienced, knowledgeable people are gone? We are headed for a disaster. I pray I'm not here to see it.
We could always eliminate pharmacy benefit managers and insurance since neither do anything but add cost to healthcare. If we had free healthcare for all the tax cost would be so much less than what we currently pay insurance.
Won't fix the system entirely but it's a start. They need to force pharma and hospitals to open pricing. Imagine walking into a Walmart or Kroger, buying your groceries and not knowing how much you owe until you consumed it at home. Then sent a bill for shopping there.
Could that happen? I guess anything is possible, but once you understand that suffering and misery and pain and sickness are features, not bugs, of civilization, you recognize that the likelihood of such a fantasy becoming reality is very close to zero. Civilization was built via subjugation of nature, and in case you have forgotten, humans are part of nature. You can’t have civilization without subjugation of humanity. So, are you okay with a return to life as a nomadic hunter-gatherer? Most people would say no, but even if they said yes, that doesn’t mean we can make it happen. The first step towards liberation is relinquishing the illusion of control that the ruling class desperately needs you to believe you have. That may sound counterintuitive, but humans waste most of our energy on this illusion. If we let go of it, we would be uncontrollable.
@@katieandnick4113 I’m not sure what your comment means. You seem to change the conversation and then counter the new argument you propose. take solace in knowing that eurocentric healthcare is mostly a big scam and has no demonstrable net benefit to society. want to be healthy make sure you have a health focused lifestyle as much as you can. its the only thing that will ever actually help more than it will harm in our culture. i have nothing but misdiagnosis and mistreatment in my experience with eurocentric healthcare. spending hundreds of hours in hospitals because they didnt know what cluster headaches were and felt like running up hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt for me so that i would never have the ability to legally make money ever again without eurpoean loyalist healthcare companies garnishing all my wages
What the government considers "affordable" is a travesty. I know someone that could not possibly afford the plans she was allowed to have. The government fined her for not having insurance. Fined her right into losing her home - her entire life. This is disgusting. When they first proposed Obama care I thought they were making progress. Then they pulled this "we decide what you'll get and how much you'll pay for it" crap. Backing it up with egregious fines for those that didn't comply - yet never considering all the complaints that what was offered was NOT affordable. Some paid the outrageous prices and STILL had to pay out of pocket to get the care they needed because the "plan" they were told they could afford didn't include what they had been getting or what they needed. Government Healthcare in this country is a disaster. Yet other countries manage to do it just fine. You would THINK they would look at these successful countries and model after them. But that would be too logical. The goal was never giving everyone affordable Healthcare. The goal was how to reach into everyone's pocket and take money to line pockets already healthy and fat with cash. The wealthy and the politicians were never subjected to this travesty. I said it back then - if it's going to be mandated and fines levied for non-compliance then EVERYONE should be subjected to it. If the politicians had to participate you better believe we would have proper Healthcare. Once I found out they weren't subjected to this BS - it was obvious what was going down. This needs to end. What happened to the America I grew up in? 50 years ago nobody would dare do this. How is it that our government is allowed to force us to purchase anything? Land of the free - the founding fathers are appalled at what this country has become.
Always profit over people. When corporate law was passed, people were immediately at a loss. Corporations are designed to make profit, simply the fact.
Have been to a CVS only once and that was to pickup a prescription for a client-years ago. Their prices are outrageous, as I discovered while looking around. Would never to one again. I feel like some much business in the US these days are run by criminals.
I have four friends who are pharmacist, they left CVS sox years ago. Eent to Rite Aid Happy with Untied Healthcare as their insurance. Then Walgreens and CVS wanted to merge and it was stopped. Then Walgreens bought all Rite Aid's accept five. After promising they would not sell them they did. Then Walgreens was filed against loosing in Federal court for selling stores to CVS. They had to buy them back and were find $350 Million in fines. This is why Federal minimum wage must go to no less than $18-20 hourly. Today in The USA it should be just about $26 hourly. There are several states paying $20 or higher for all job.

Many people work for hospitals many Cna,s work for hospitals. They do not get healthcare And if they get sick with COVID. Or whatever even in new york or california or anywhere, they have to still go into work which is insane
Healthcare is not and should not be considered a human right. You can argue whether or not you think the government can provide it in an efficient an cost effective manner, but you're not inherently entitled to have other people provide you with goods and services.

Healthcare is FREE in Canada, paid for through our taxes and also covers any pre-existing conditions. If having healthcare isn't reasonable than certainly having villianaires isn't either. Nor CEO's that make $22 million for destroying a company and ruining lives.
I work for an large insurance company, you wouldn't believe what they charge us for insurance. The cheapest options is a $6000 deductible family plan. Having a $6000 dedication is almost like not having insurance at all. Unless you have a lot of stuff happening to you in that year you will not hit that $6000 before the next year starts. Or you can pay 4x as much for a $3000 deductible family plan. If you have a healthy family again you will not hit the $3000 before the next year. All insurance is is that you are betting the insurance company you are going to get sick, and for 90% of the people you lose.
I think I know exactly what insurance company you work for because it sounds like the one I use to work for. Was it Cigna? (If not then this must be a common thing insurance companies do) . I never understood why our insurance coverage was so expensive with high deductible if we work for the company. I felt like they have better insurance to other contacted companies versus their actual employees.
This is deplorable. I work for a small nonprofit and pay for a very subpar health insurance plan from the ACA Marketplace. for some reason I thought only small businesses had this issue. I had no idea CVS employees did not receive full coverage insurance. I wish we could boycott all of these companies. End stage capitalism is going to be the end of this country and everyday Americans deserve better than this!

my local morning news finally told a fundamental truth of modern american life but the point went clear across the news peoples heads lol. they stated that "it takes three full time minimum wage jobs to pay for a single bedroom apartment anywhere in this country" but their contemplation on the fact stopped at rent instead of going on to realize that rent is only one of the five or six things you HAVE to have to be a functional adult here. need another 3 jobs for utilities and insurance. then another 3 for car related expenses. and a minimum of one more to pay for the nutrition required to keep a human body in the condition to output 16 hours of labor every single day. but wait, you are doing 10 full time jobs per day now so actually you'd need enough to fuel a human body to output 80 HOURS OF LABOR per day. which means you need 5 more full time jobs to pay for nutritional requirements of being alive. its an insurmountable negative feedback loop that literally murders people with labor induced starvation... and the well off get gitty and laugh about it any time its discussed... what a terrifying culture and reality we live in
@studmuffin1217 we joke about not using our health insurance unless something falls off! I pay $7200 per year, with $ 8000 deductible before the insurance company actually pays for anything. The company I work for is "self insured", and whenever someone has a serious health issue, they mysteriously rise to the top of list of candidates next to be laid off. I've seen the pattern play out many times.
No one forces CVS workers to work there. These emotional videos calling for socialism are leaving out sooo much information. The biggest problem are not the companies, but the trade organizations that form conglomerates that have deep lobbying pockets.
It’s so nice that these rich companies have most of their employees collecting insurance and assistance from the government. With their massive profits can’t they pay their employees better?
When your dad owned the farm, wisconsin was a solid blue state, and milk price supports were a staple of Democratic policy! The state bought up all of the surplus milk, and cheese, and used it in the school lunch program, and wic programs. I work for an insurance company, like actual medical insurance. Our coverage has gotten steadily worse, year after year after year. Prices always go up. My coverage is significantly worse than the plans we sell customers...ironically i'd be better off without any insurance more often than not. We're getting open enrollment in a few days, and im dreading to see what is coming for 2025.
Healthcare should not be tied to employers. Instead of having our employers deduct for premiums (and paying deductibles on top of that), we could instead pay a tiny bit more in taxes and have a Medicare for All system that covers everything without premiums or deductibles. I'm voting for Jill Stein because, unlike Kamala, Stein supports Medicare for All. I do not live in one of the 7 or 8 swing states, so I do not feel the least bit bad about voting for Jill Stein. (If you live in a swing state, maybe you will have to consider the implications of your vote more carefully than a person such as me who does not live in a swing state; it's your decision.) Kamala supports the ACA. The ACA is bad because it keeps employers involved in healthcare (moreover, there are lots of loopholes that allow employers to avoid providing health insurance to their employees, especially temp and part-time employees). The ACA is bad because for coverage of poor people it relies on Medicaid, a system that is vulnerable to sabotage from red state Republicans (such as condescending, bureaucratic, and onerous "work requirements" paperwork). Instead, there should be a federally funded Medicare for All system that covers everyone with no deductibles and no copays.
I've never heard an American calling for a free at point of use system like the British NHS. Good on ya. Normally it's called "socialism", a word which we never use in the UK. The NHS has big issues at the moment but it's still vastly better value for money than the American system and if the British government increased the funding in line with comparable but better performing systems it would still cost far less than yours.
The managers perpetuate the issue to too. As soon as you get pushed up to middle management. Suddenly none of this matters. It’s your job to push these standards onto the lower levels store staff and be blind fully loyal to the company. I remember having a manager become upset with me because I didn’t want to pay to buy some company shirts for a “fundraiser” despite the company only paying me $11/hr before Texas. Then again, that was Walgreens but it’s not all that different from CVS. That was a minor instance compared to other experiences I’ve had so I’m glad i no longer have to work at those places.
I've heard some of my neighbors talking about the troubles that we americans are facing, all of which was the same crap mentioned in this video. The details in this were not surprising, the details I heard from my neighbors wasn't surprising either. Though some of them mentioned that if this continues to get worse, they might just abandon the normal american lifestyles many of us have accepted. Most of them had their own ideas about what do to afterward but one thing was the same, the thing they all agreed on was that they were tired of throwing money at all the expensive crap we have here or settling for cheap garbage. America is not the "land of the free" anymore, it's all owned by the rich.
