More Perfect Union’s mission is to build power for working people. Here’s what that means:
We report on the real struggles and challenges of the working class from a working-class perspective, and we attempt to connect those problems to potential solutions.
We report on the abuses and wrongdoing of corporate power, and we seek to hold accountable the ultra-rich who have too much power over America’s political and economic systems.
We're an independent, nonprofit newsroom. To support our work, please follow us or contribute at the links below.
synchrony bank is going to 49% interest. 49 PERCENT!!!!!! IN a couple months! Got the letter the other day. Won't be using that anymore. I remember 9.99% and 12.9% then 19.99% and 24%, then 29.99% and I thought that was nuts.....here we go.......49% PEOPLE!
The DOL cares about a teenager working. Yet they don't have a problem with Forced Free Manual Labor at every JobCorps in the USA. The Teenager got a paycheck at least.
Uber and Lyft are cheaters. I asked Uber driver sort of same story. Outcome: drivers spending money on car maintenance, gas and insurance. Finally they pay taxes. Savings are very less. Uber drivers are cheap labor but CEO is becoming billionaire. Representatives are useless and they get paid more. Drivers are slaves. So sad to hear such stories. I simply became anger once I hear his story. So I fuck Uber
The trouble is they dont have enough employees to keep up with the prices yet alone stocking, the have freezers or refriderators that break down...now they have shutdown self checkout because of theft
It sucks they are being punished for unionizing but honestly, this is a retail job and Apple is as good as it gets. Apple paid their retail workers full pay when the stores were shut down during COVID and everyone had to stay home. Compensation also includes really good health benefits, paid family leave, paying for tuition, and a stock buying plan that has helped a number of people put down payments on their houses and these are for non-managerial positions. I don't know of any other retail job that offers that much. The reporting excludes all of this and I think it's very unfair. The reason these employees don't just leave is because they know there's nothing better out there in retail. Move on to another job if you want a raise or better conditions.
This is why paying cash is far more valuable to a community in the long run. You pay $40 in cash, it remains $40 when it is used to pay wages, and buy other goods. Where when you pay credit, every transaction on that $40 takes a little bit away, and really ends up being jsut $5 to the community as a whole on average. The credit card companies have taken the rest of that money.
I'm so over tipping. Tipping is over. It's done. Tipping in general is just asinine and needs to go. A tip prompt just exposes an employer as a scumbag who financially abuses their staff. How are they not embarrassed? More importantly, why does everyone support this? #endtipping
When a single store has a union and an agreement, Apple cannot make changes to that agreement. That means all the new changes and benefits that go to the other stores cannot go to the union until they negotiate a new contract. That is the downside to a single store being unionized.
Disgusting how the front-line workers have been treated like slaves, while the CEO lives like a king (0verlord) by stomping on their backs. There should be a law where there is mandated day off every week. Sue on the grounds of religious freedoms ...(Lord's Day claim)
The various mental problems and philosophies of Steve Jobs are alive and well, even if he isn't. He was a marketing genius but a major asshole in all of his relationships. What's with that "Black@Apple" shirt? Does EVERYthing have to be about race? I'm sick and tired of it, and millions of others are.
Employment is a two way agreement. If it doesn’t work for both parties, it doesn’t work. If it’s not working out for you, leave. It’s really that simple. You don’t get to tell the other party how it’s supposed to work for them.
Apple is evil all around. Their “technology” included. (Their tech is mostly identical to everyone else’s these days. What differentiates them is branding and anti consumer lockdowns on otherwise commodity technologies).
Not impressed with this video. Here's a crazy thought: make a budget And stay in it. Period. If you can't make it go, you should probably do something else anyway.
Ummmm get a new job?! 🤷🏻♂️” yes I’m not making enough to live but I am staying at this job that treats me like garbage.” There are higher paying jobs out there that you certainly qualified for. Said that I am not defending Disney who nickels and dimes EVERYONE into submission. As long as people accept their grift they will continue to do it. Get better union leaders . Get rid of the clause that says you can’t strike. Absolutely no one show up to work one day…. See how their park operates then. Stand up and do SOMETHING to enrich your life.
ADDRESS DISCRIMINATION IN HIRING. It is commonly practised against people trying to reenter society. If your address is a halfway house, homeless shelter, drug rehab, or even some public housing, your application is tossed. HR people have addresses memorized, and yes, they do use Google Maps. Just call any NGO in any major city and ask them "Do homeless people need a GOOD ADDRESS to get a job?" and watch the answers. I'm in Seattle, it's particularly bad here, been known issue among the homeless for over a decade. When I first moved here in 2014, I lived at a pay-by-the-week hotel for a while. I could not use that address to get my ID, so I was directed to a maildrop operated by Compass Housing at 77 S Washington St. (which is the address that was put on my ID). I applied all over the place with no luck. I found a pay-by-the-month place in Burien, and my landlord advised me to immediately change my address before applying for any more jobs. He was the one who told me about address discrimination. He said, "This is a good address." and then explained why. I was like "That's just weird" but yeah, I did start asking homeless people about it, and IT IS SO COMMON!!! 😬😬😬 The only homeless people who were working were either doing cash pick-up work, or were using someone else's address ("my cousin's in Kent" "my grandma's in Wenatchee" etc). Why would an employer need your address? Esp. before hiring? We have ID scanners in every supermarket, drug store, dope store, convenience store, etc, and not all scans show your address, so the tech already exists to eliminate that from the hiring process. An app could do it. Sure, there's arguments over security, but the people doing the security checks do not have to reveal the applicant's current address to the employer. Besides, the people most impacted by address discrimination are applying for jobs where no security check is required. There really isn't any reason for an employer to know your address except to discriminate against you. It's a hidden problem that a lot of people (like me) just have no clue about. It's one thing to rail against homeless drug addicts, it's another when you find a barrier as simple as this and wonder wtf is going on.
Steve Jobs was the worst gaslighter of them all. He literally claimed he founded Pixar. Lol. He bought them from Lucasfilm. Guy was a straight-up liar. He stole his OS from Xerox.
