What D&D Alignment is Denji? (Chainsaw Man)

Denji has what I'd describe as "big millennial energy." He doesn't aspire to big grand things, just consistent comfort and peace. I love him for it, and I didn't realize the hierarchy of needs was an explicit theme by the author. That's really neat, actually, and now I'm sad that it'll likely be a long time before season 2 and I can start applying that information moving forward Dx

I feel as if something often goes unsaid a lot in the anime community about Denji: He’s lived in complete isolation for about ~6 years with only a “dog” to accompany him. And during that time he’s had no room to mentally grow as a person. And so, Denji gains the raging hormones of a teenager, but does not gain the mental maturity needed for any form of intimacy. And after the night, Himeno straight up says what she was doing and offering was wrong. And after Denji says he would prefer to do it with Makima, there’s a pause. Now, I’m very likely overthinking this but to put my conspiracy cap on… I think this was a little wink at the audience to think over the situation. Denji, a 16 year old boy, is chasing intimacy with someone who: - Is more mature and mentally developed than him - Treats him like a dog (just like his previous “boss”) - Is his workplace superior The power dynamic is strictly biased towards her, and she uses that to make him do what she wants. And what i love about this series is how despite having his tastes, he isn’t afraid to not only show the reality of those fantasies, but to make almost all female characters somewhat “unsexy”. They aren’t just drawings and speech bubbles, they are real, flawed and fucked up people.

I like how even when betrayed and wounded, Denji still has boobs on the mind.

You missed some important character moments for Denji I think, like him worrying about not worrying about other people dying or being injured. But, you did have only a few days to make this video due to schedule, so well done anyway. Edit: alright, my bad. You did talk about it in afterthought section. Still, I think it should've been a neutral good tick as an evil person would not think it's messed up to not feel bad in that situation.

It feels so wrong seeing Denji in Lawful Good. I get the reasoning, but it gives me a weird gut feeling I can’t shake 😂 also, the Chainsaw Man anime will be continuing as a movie for the Reze arc 😊

Denji go through a lot in the series from the death of (*************), his first of many heartbreak, betrayal, and becoming a caretaker of another. Even with all of this, he is coming out of this as a better person. Also his relationship with the new protagonist gives me OTP joy.but that for another 5-7 years tops

I found this part was specially interesting with regards to Denji's emotion, by this point I was honestly considering that maybe his fusing with Pochita had cost him part of his humanity and that was why he consider he wouldn't feel bad about the death of his coworkers or be somewhat careless with civilians (as seen with the guy in the car)

Before I watch Imma go out on a limb and guess he starts chaotic neutral, only looking out for himself and his best buddy Pochita, and as the story progresses he goes to chaotic good

On the Ninth day of Xmas, the Loading Crew gave to me!! 9 toppings on bread! 8 near death experiences! 7 days before the next wave! 6 months the live! 5 GODDAMN RESCUES! 4 sex related injuries! 3 totally legit Nobel Prizes! 2 swords in hand. And an Isekai hero grinding EXP! I really dig this series for a number of reasons, not the leadt of which is that Denji is just a boy. He has no context, little to no manners, and just enough braincells to know how fucked his life is. And you just want to see his life get better, to the point where any small win seems like a mountain. His relationship with Aki and Power really makes for a great dynamic as they honestly do make for a great team. 😢 See you on the next video.

Denji deserved his own rating. Chaotic dumb! Because that’s what he is and always has been. That won’t change in the movie. Season 2. Or even after all that.

Say what you want about Denji’s ball busting tendencies but the kid was essentially raised like a goblin he will fight like one, and that includes using Fury of The Small.

I disagree on the Infinity Devil take. Denji jumped into it's mouth with the INTENT to torture it into wanting to commit suicide. Good reasons or not, that's got to be an evil action! (or at least a neutral one, considering Denji doesn't seem to care about the well-being of others or himself ever).

If & when a "What D&D Alignment" is Makima is made, I'm gonna call it right now. Neutral Evil. Why you may ask? A N.E. character has no problem hurting others to get what they want (using the death row inmates as sacrifices) but won't go out of their way to cause harm if there's no direct benefit to them (she only made Denji an offer when she saw/found a grand use of him. Then she literally built Denji up just to bring him back down further because she wants the chainsaw devil/pochita).

While not lingered on, it was actually implied their brotherly bonding at the end of the season actually left katana man's berries turned into jam. So uh... yeah, there was permanent injuries. Though he is a fiend, so they could have regenerated.

I hope we get a Reze video after the movie.

Chainsaw Man has definitely been one of my all-time favorite manga to read and I loved finally getting to watch an anime of it. But I’m confused by how you keep talking about season two adapting the rest of it or saying things like “Denji will be a good man by the end of the series” even though the manga is not over yet. As chapter 151 latterly just came out this Wednesday with Denji preparing to finally fight Barem. I assume this video was made before Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc was announced instead of season two for next year. But under that assumption season 1 was 12 episodes that adapted 38 chapters, so if season 2 was only 12 episodes and cep the same pace it would only make it to chapter 76 the second chapter of the Gun Devil fight argo not the rest of the series. Now with the movie being called Reze Arc we can assume it’s adapted from the arc of the same name and will make it to something around chapter 52. If season two is 12 episodes again and adptes at the same speed as season 1 it would make it to chapter 90 the reveal of Power’s full Devil form. As this is a nonsense season end, I can see it pushing itself to the end of the Control Devil arc at chapter 97. My personal favorite Chainsaw Man character Asa Mitaka does not debut until chapter 98. So, I’m confused how does season two after the Reze move adopted all of chapters 53 throw 151 and counting win the first season only adapted 38 chapters?

Chapter 152 of Chainsaw Man just came out and it makes this statement “Denji will be a good man by the end of the series” age poorly. Chapter 152 is an entire chapter of Denji butchering and cannibalize people has he gloats how good he fells. There's an entire page of one of his victims screaming and begging for her life. Also, for Denji caring about his friends like he said he wouldn’t, starts this chapter “They burned down my home with my pets inside it, and I… I feel like a million bucks. Thanks to you guys”. Yep, he is surntly ending the story a good man hear.
