I would label that act lawful good: maybe neutral good. Given the theame of the game, I would say Kris is true neutral, but probly wants to be chaotic neutral deep down.

@@agsilverradio2225 I personally would see Kris as a chaotic good character without the player. He's canonically a chronic prankster, but also has a soft spot for his friends indicated by flavor text. He even eggs on Noelle in chapter 2, suggesting she kill him to break his control over her in the Snowgrave route.

I think kris is in the good part of the spectrum. 1. Look at his family all good people. I’d say this increases the chance of him being good 2. Saved susy 3. Rule of 3

There is a commonly accepted theory about Chara called narrachara that puts a lot of the game into a new perspective… Chara becomes more of a true neutral or even neutral good character, depending on your actions in the game. There’s quite a bit of evidence for it, and I think it’s sad that most people only see Chara as “Bad guy at end of bad route” when I think they’re really a main character in every route, no matter what you do.

narrachara is pure copium dude...it's okay to have an evil bad guy, even in a game as kind and nice as undertale. plus this is a theory extrapolated together years after the fact and likely not canon. it's just a fun idea

@@TheLoadingCrew It's got a lot of evidence, like dialogue saying, "It's me, Chara." That's hard to argue against. Also, in my mind, Flowey will always be an irredeemable bitch who uses "soullessness" as an excuse to be a jerk. In the alarm dialogue, he talks about how he once felt emotion as a flower! He's not just longing for something to feel, he's a complete liar.

I wouldnt say Goku is Chaotic Good. He is farther down the Chaotic Neutral side, just not the stereotype. While Goku will save the day, his Motives arnt Good, he just wants to fight, and if it means he will save the day, so be it. He has risked billions of lives during almost every arc just so he can have a better and more difficult fight. Letting Villains get stronger, sparing the lives of mass murderers, and sending his young child out to fight a Mass Murdering android, because you think the child has potential (even if he was correct, he still sent a child who didnt like to fight out in a life risking situation, I dont care about the stupid beans, its still not a good action at all). Even if Goku saves the day a lot, he is not at all a good person. I would put him on Chaotic Neutral, bordering on Chaotic Stupid to Neutral Evil in many moments.

Also Alastor from Hazbin Hotel is most definitely Chaotic Evil, while he does make deals, he LOVES chaos and is constantly looking for things to entertain him, more then happy to destroy higher ups if he is bored. He is helping the Hotel solely for the reason of watching people suffer and the Chaos that the hotel would create in Hell, Hoping that it fails. (atleast for now)

Chara is Lawful Neutral, they only take action to make you do what you have been doing and live with the consequences, they do bad things but were never terrible, just a naughty child, they also did good things, like wanting to save the monsters from the underground and even sacrificing themselves to do so, they DID want to, or were ok with, killing several humans, but I'd argue Lawful Neutral as they make you do what your actions have lead to if you go on the genocide route so you don't try to weasel out of your ending by resetting, they show you your actions have consequences and you can't just take it back. Lawful Neutral because they hold you for your actions, they even offer a deal to get the game back, but never let you forget what you did, they were not happy with the human world, but definitely Neutral.

So many people skip over Chara's definitive act of altruism for monsterkind. Heck, after you do a genocide route, they encourage you to try to redeem yourself by doing a Pacifist Route, but even after that, they constantly remind you of all the horrible things you did, and that "stain" you've garnered via the genocide route while blunt and negatable, will never truly go away. They take it upon themselves to remind you of your past mistakes. Whether this may be an act of "justice" or an act of "revenge" for killing everything they ever loved is up to debate. If it's the former, Chara is definitely lawful neutral, but if it's the latter, they would be more along the lines of chaotic neutral. I think it's better if their completely scrapped from the alignment chart entirely since their motivations aren't as fleshed out as the ones in the main cast.

Hey Stewart, after rewarching all the Toby Fox alignment videos ... I just finshed playing OneShot. If you've never heard of it and if you love Undertale (which you clearly seem to) then OneShot is 100% up your alley. Bonus, it's not even some knock off because the original game jam version was finished before Undertale released! I'd just love to see you do videos on all the characters in OneShot like this. Or at least Niko, The Author, and The World Machine.

The character who represents lawful good is artoria Pendragon from the Fate series. If her name seems suspicious that's because she's the Fate series version of King Arthur in most of the time lines. And yes artoria is a girl. They gender been a lot of historical and mythical figures.

I'm watching these videos a while after they came out and i have to say the last video scared me. It hit me personally, so the end of this one, being so incredibly hopeful and having a positive ending just makes my heart melt. Every time I hear you say "Chara" with a soft CH, I recall Blazer Terribad/Specter Spark/Sparky yelling in a video collaboration with Wamboo. Chara's name is a pun on "character"; every name in Undertale is a play on words.

I honestly love how you looked at this as a completely separate game from Undertale, and acted as if you had never played Undertale when talking about reoccurring characters like Sans. It really puts into perspective how much knowing a game's history can affect how you perceive it. Based on what Toby Fox has said, you are technically supposed to play Undertale before starting Deltarune, but it's just kinda neat how many references I just shrugged off instead of actually processing that they were references, and not a part of Deltarune on its own (the most glaring example being Sans' mentions of Papyrus). Anyways, great video, great perspective, overall great work! Can't wait to see when/if you end up revisiting these alignments in Chapter 2!

I cannot believe than I watched two Undertale/Deltarune analysis video (analysis on the characters, yes but non the less), and yet was still *not* prepared for some kind of philosophical/meta-physical questioning in the end. It's was saw easy to spot, yet it grabbed me by the neck like you grab a misbehaving kitten

If you wander around town some more you can find nappstablook’s house and it’s possible that mettaton, Nappstablook, and mad dummy are all living together. There’s some really interesting dialogue from what’s most likely mettaton. Makes me wonder what happened to him

Not sure when it was changed but it had to have been very recently. If it wasn't changed for the Undertale episode (which I don't think it was), the Undertale episode was the first. That said, the new alignment reps from what I can tell are: LG - Saber from Fate/stay night NG - Lucina from Fire Emblem CG - Goku from Dragon Ball LN - Death the Kid from Soul Eater N - The Knight from Hollow Knight CN - Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach LE - Alastor from Hazbin Hotel NE - Jafar from Aladdin CE - Skull Kid/Majora from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

There's a little bit about Rouxls Kaard you might find interesting - his shop dialogue _drastically_ changes after fighting the K. Round he summoned; all of a sudden that great reverence he has for King goes completely out the window and he regards Lancer and the party as his favorites now. It sort of suggests that he's really just out to curry favor from whoever he thinks is on the winning side, and he ends up supporting this by going back to (briefly) antagonizing the party as a Chapter 2 miniboss in the service of Queen. Just a funny bit. Either way I think he still qualifies as Chaotic Neutral.

You reminded me of my iteration of Jevil in my campaign. I still portrayed him as bouncy, confusing, and sinister ad in the game, but also completely obedient to a lawful good paladin who instructed him to follow her orders. I made him lawful chaotic because he can do anything.

So, here's a quick tangent, but, I don't think the Chaotic Evil thing fits Chara. It's actually implied Chara hates humans because they were abused (And implied even moreso that they're the narrator, which I'll use as evidence here), as an example, there's the description of the ribbon armour ("If your cuter, monsters won't hit you as hard!" in Undertale, the "heckle" option during the Snowy amalgamate fight states, "You look horrible, why are you even alive!?" Followed with "Wait...you didn't say that?" Ect. The youtuber Judgement boy actually has some good videos about this on their channel. Then there's the plan, the one that got both them and Asriel killed. I don't think it was just a ploy to kill humans, I think it was just a misguided child trying to help the only people who truly cared for them, and when they did try wipe out the human village, it could have easily been self defense. I think that True Neutral or Neutral Good, maybe even Chaotic Neutral, might fit them better, then again, that's just my opinion.

It can be implied he hates humans, but there's no proof of it nor proof of him being abused, that's just the community's head-canon The ribbon isn't from Chara so it's irrelevant We don't really know why Chara did what he did, but i feel like your theory is the most logical one With that said, the video adresses him at the end of the genocide route, and by then he's full on evil, we have 0 clue as to what alignment he would have in the other routes

However, there is something I would like to add that I found in Undertale, something that likely extends to Deltarune and might be giving us some more insight into these two characters.... In the code of Undertale, there was secret text in an update of the game. It follows as: "Demon": Greetings. "Demon": You have yourself perfectly clear. "Demon": Understood. "Demon": I, as your humble servant, will serve you to the utmost. Now, I think it's clear who's talking here, Chara, but who are they talking to? It most definitely isn't us, the player. Chara called us a partner, an equal. Whoever they are talking to here is someone who they themselves see as a servant to, a master, and to be talking through the games code, it must be a being similar to Chara, a "meta entity" of sorts. The only person I can think of like that is Gaster. And this was an update that was a month before Deltarune, a game strongly connected to Gaster.

.....what alignment.........am I?...........For me............I've always felt I was on the edge og lawful and chaotic good. Literally using my body as a shield for other and like Lusia from encanto, putting pressure on myself to make up for my faults...until that pressure just pushes over to the very limit that i can take. I'm thick skulled to the point it isn't funny, I'm as stubborn as a tank, I have sturge weber syndrome, ADHD, and a real bad right eye that boarders on, if not is blind. I'm a hermit who hates to interact with people for looking like two face, I'm lonely, I'm....I'm me.....right?

26:32 I have to disagree here. As you said before, you possess Frisk and Kris. When Kris rips his soul out, he's preventing you from controlling him. On the other hand, Frisk breaks the rules of the game in the final. Here I would say that Frisk agrees with your decisions and uses her own determination to save Asriel. [Note: In Supernatural, the body can function without a soul, but then the conscience is missing.] With Chara, I'd say you corrupt her during a genocide. She is tied to Frisk for some reason and has to play the narrator. She acts neutrally until you start killing monsters. In Asriel, as a disembodied being, she could probably no longer control her hatred. So she has a lot of evil in her, but she only acts evil under very specific circumstances.

Just a small note. I personally would like too see you cover Goku. Because it could be argued that he is CG or CN. Yes he dose have his people that he cares about, but when ever he gets the opportunity to fight some one, even if there powered up form could risk the entire planet he is trying to protect, he will still choose to fight them when they are at there strongest. Though I might just be reading him wrong.

I really like this video, even the ending section with the in-depth section but, about that section, I disagree with Chara being Chaotic Evil it's heavily implied that Chara jumped into the Underground with the intent to kill themselves, Asriel stating "well.. it wasn't for a happy reason" when commenting on why Chara fell down the most common theory is that Chara was widely abused, harassed, bullied, and overall just treated like garbage for seemingly no reason, which is an incredibly valid reason to form resentment and malice towards humans the ending of the Genocide ending with Chara asking to erase the world is very likely what you said, where Frisk and Chara shared the same soul, and all the Levels Of ViolencE you had gained influenced Chara to a breaking point as a person, I would personally judge Chara as Chaotic Neutral, or maybe even Neutral Evil, but Chaotic Evil is certainly not the right alignment for them in my opinion, because as Asriel said, Chara was a good friend, and it's widely assumed that Chara cared for his family, which is why he made the plan to poison themselves and have Asriel take their soul to the surface in order to break the Barrier to free the monsters whom they (Chara) had grown to appreciate and consider family.. moreso than their own kind (humans)

I have a feeling that Deltarune will go into more depth with Charas personality. There are some hints that Chara does exist in Deltarune, and is possibly cooperating with Gaster.

@Ryder Golde Okay, I'll explain... In the code of Undertale, there was secret text in an update of the game. It follows as: "Demon": Greetings. "Demon": You have yourself perfectly clear. "Demon": Understood. "Demon": I, as your humble servant, will serve you to the utmost. Now, I think it's clear who's talking here, Chara, but who are they talking to? It most definitely isn't us, the player. Chara called us a partner, an equal. Whoever they are talking to here is someone who they themselves see as a servant to, a master, and to be talking through the games code, it must be a being similar to Chara, a "meta entity" of sorts. The only person I can think of like that is Gaster. And this was an update that was a month before Deltarune, a game strongly connected to Gaster.

@Ryder Golde Also, think about this... We all know the ending of chapter one, Kris rips out the SOUL, puts it in a bird cage, and pulls out a knife. People assumed the second chapter would involve Kris doing some sort of Genocide, however, screenshots of chapter 2 have shown us that this isn't the case. So that would mean that the SOUL at some point during the night goes back into Kris, as if nothing happened. But why, why would Kris do this nightly routine of pulling their soul out and putting it back in. I propose that this is indeed "Chara" taking out the SOUL and taking "Control" of kris's body, and the reason is not what it seems... The birdcage it is thrown into is in a cart with wheels, something that can be pulled, be moved somewhere. Well, where would "Chara" take the SOUL every night? The only place it can be of any use, the underground secret bunker at the bottom of the town. The secret bunker produces a sound, that when slowed down 666% is the same noise that plays during Entry number Seventeen. This is very likely Gaster's hideout, and his secret lab, and he would be the only one in town who would know exactly what the hell is going on around there, as he very likely is responsible for what's happening in the game. My theory is this: Every night, Chara removes the SOUL from Kris, they put it in a birdcage on a cart, they move the SOUL to the Secret bunker, where Gaster does further analysis and tests on it for whatever reason. Then, when he is finished, Chara goes back home with the SOUL, puts it back in Kris's body, and they go back to bed.

Ralse is definently good, but I don't think there is significant evidence to say if he's lawfull, netral, or chaotic. ... I actaully agree that Lancer was allways chaotic-good. ... Sarah (I mean Suzy) started as chaotic-netral, but shifted towards good through her arch.

I would ask for a Dark Souls video, but I feel enough holes and mysteries are left in the stories that it could severely screw with some choices. Not to mention plenty of secrets and lies. The closest ones that probably could be scrounged for one of these videos for each game would be: Ds1: Solair, Gwyn, and Patches. Ds2: Vendrick, Aldia, Nashandra, and Lucatiel. (Probably Pate and Creighton, but they seem to be lying to you. And benhart is an open book, but his character doesn't change.) Ds3: Yhorm, Gael, the flame itself, and a continuation of Patches. Also maybe the story of Alva and Zulie, starting from it's origins in 2 to their implications in 3.

Cool vid! One minor thing I'd like to point out tho, it isn't actually confirmed if Gaster was forgotton by everyone. Asgore took a long time to replace him, and Goner Kid's dialouge doesn't directly refer to Gaster. Gaster being forgotton is a possible interpretation, but their dialouge could also just be reffering to the FUN value events. The game does still run perfectly smoothly without any of those events, and Goner Kid is in Waterfall, not Hotland. Again, both are valid interpretations, just wanted to point out that the 'forgotton' part isn't fully concrete in canon

I might sound like a wimp saying this, but that intro creeped me the fuck out. Like, I've always had a kind of fear of glitchy characters, and the possibility that a glitchy character, with unknown motives, is branching out beyond their universe triggers my phobia immensely. It's ridiculous to assume that a video game character can just reach out and control your life in some crazy experiment, but I've had nightmares about just that during my theorizing about Gaster. I know it's not real, but I have lost sleep because of that phobia.

By the way, if you're interested in some Gaster clues, I found some odd stuff in the Japanese port and there's most likely some anomalies in the XBox port's code, once dataminers try and find it. So, the Japanese port has been localized and obviously has some dialogue that isn't one-to-one in order to give the same impact to a different people. However, there are some odd translations that pique my interest. When you die against Asriel, the translation says something along the lines of "Like Hell I'll break!" What intrigues me about this translation is how the original of "But it refused to break." can easily be conveyed with Daga Kotowaru, which translates to "But I refuse." It gives the same impact of flat refusal to an outcome that's beyond your control, yet the more emotional line they used intrigues me considerably. This kind of stuff makes me believe that every individual port and rerelease of Undertale and Deltarune has their own unique Gaster clues. What else is different in the translation...?

I get what you are saying, but I don’t think that would be a problem since all three of them (Christians, Muslims, and the Jews) went on record saying that movie was faithful to not just the story, but to the era as well and was awesome. Besides, this would focus on the two main characters, Moses and Rameses, and not the religions. He’s a smart enough guy to know how to avoid that obstacle.

Here's a headcanon: In Undertale's Pacifist run, Frisk is content with the player's control since your actions ultimately lead to the salvation of monsterkind. This is why they're able to tell Asriel their real name without your input. In Undertale's Genocide run, Frisk is powerless to stop you from the moment you gain 1 LV. Frisk is weak and impotent no matter what you do, since it's YOUR soul that grows, not their individual strength. Therein lies the difference between Frisk and Kris. Kris is aware of the player's existence and chooses to grant you control for most of the game. Kris is able to act independently from your wishes to a limited degree, since the your soul can't actually get any stronger in the Dark World. Kris is the one who grows there for reasons that I can't really pin down this early in the game's development. Kris seems to put you in situations as some kind of test or game. This could explain why they opened a Dark Fountain in their own home in the end of Chapter 2. However the main difference between Kris and Frisk is that Kris has established lore and traits, while Frisk is entirely ambiguous. There's not even a given reason as to why they climbed Mt. Ebott to begin with.

I feel like you’ve missed very big important details in reference to Chara, judging them based off the players choices is still faulty. They’re only violent in genocide route because of the player, it feels like a half naked observation
