I didn't actually mind Peach in this movie. She wasn't a damsel in distress but she also didn't come across as an annoying Mary Sue type. I saw her more as the mentor to the outsider which would make sense. I also like how she kind of looked at Mario and was fascinated by him because it's probably the first time outside of her infancy that she's seen another human. I don't know maybe it's because girl bosses are a lot more annoying in other movies and I just wasn't as annoyed. But I think they did good for not making her a stereotype in either way
I agree. I think it helps that Peach is also established in Mario canon to be quite assertive and capable when she puts her mind to it, so her being a "Girlboss" doesn't feel as pandering as many others do.
I think this version of Peach is great as well. If I recall correctly, there is a version of Peach in the Mario comics that is very similar to how this Peach is portrayed. I like to think that they based Movie Peach on her comic counterpart. I also heard that in the original drafts of the movie, Peach was a lot more girl boss like and Mary Sue-ish, more like the stereotype everyone dislikes, to the point that Nintendo had to stepped in and tell them to tone it down. I'm not sure if that was true or not, so take that with a grain of salt.
I can agree with this really do make her character justified in this movie because they don't overplay Busse technically she does become a damsel-in-distress even if it's not in the original way that it is in the games
She basically plays the mentor role that you see in most isekai stories. She knows the mechanics and Mario doesn’t. And like the best ones, she doesn’t become useless when that job is done.

They might but I think they probably shouldn't. Peach could very easily slide into damsel territory and the "girlboss" moments keep her away from that.
Honestly Id really love to see you cover RWBY characters. They are surprisingly engaging and from the way you go about these videos and the respect you have for people enjoying different things I feel like you would actually appreciate the show and its character arcs while not constantly trying to spread hate about it here on RU-vid.
In defence of "girlboss" peach, considering the amount of deep-cut references that are made in the movie, I assumed she was based on her obscure manga counterpart. There was a mario manga back when the original games were being made where Peach was insanely proactive. Sure, she was captured but she also did insane things like kick every goombas ass before jumping out a skyscraper sized tower. So while people are tired of girlbosses there is still a little bit of precedence for peach. Also considering negative connotations of the term, I'd hardly call her a girl boss since she actually trained and worked for her abilities since she was a child, so it actually makes sense that she would be skilled within the context of the movie. Furthermore gender, "girlpower", and other subjects people commonly associate with mary sues are never mentioned in the film.
This may be a bit of an odd suggestion but what they did Cole MacGrath and some of the other inFamous characters. One half of the video on heroic Cole and the other on evil Cole. The same could be done for Delsin and it would interesting to see Kessler and Zeke’s alignments. Nix and Kuo could be thrown in.
I was... the BIGGEST fan of the 1993 movie... RIP Bob Hoskins we miss you greatly. Please PLEASE come back to that one. Yes it wasn't "good" Yes the characters were drunk during parts of it, but overall, I loved it. Hence when it came to Playstation vs Nintendo, I stuck to the Nintendo consoles
I am once again requesting Starscream from “Transformers Armada.” Still considered a peak of writing in Transformers history despite coming from a very mid show. (Also bringing in Comodin Cam would be advisable as he has done a full evaluation of the character in question.)
I imagine there’d be too much material to go through for it, but I think an alignment video for Ben Sisko from _Star Trek: Deep Space Nine_ would be very interesting. He’s probably the most complicated of the pre-Kurtzman _Trek_ Captains.
Additionally, I’d vote for Naofumi Iwatani from _Rising of the Shield Hero._ He does quite a few things whose weight is strongly tied to how much weight you give his previous experiences throughout the story, as was the case with the Omni-Man episode.

Love the Alignment videos usually & this one mostly, but I gotta get on a soapbox after hearing again "all politicians are lawful evil." Especially after placing Princess Peach of all characters as that. With all due respect Stuart, I unfortunately think it's a wrongheaded pov to label every politician as lawful evil. Granted, nobody should EVER wholeheartedly trust politicians, which just often leads to blind faith in them, or worse by supporters. But I just find that labeling all of them absolutely as lawful evil just comes off badly as a pov formed not by direct real interaction and experience with politicians, but one formed through a filter of media (movies, tv shows, 24hr news, Twitter, FB, etc.) I've had experience in interaction of politicians personally through volunteer work (knocking on doors, registering new voters, phone banking, etc) and after direct interaction with them, I'd say some of them would qualify for Lawful Neutral or perhaps even True Neutral depending on certain prior actions or behaviors. TO BE FAIR THOUGH, I'd say there would be a huge percentage of them as lawful evil, if at least the majority. Heck, I'd go as far as to say a small percentage would qualify as Neutral Evil (btw, while Bowser is a king, therefore a politician, I honestly think him as Neutral Evil is the correct call still.) Also I would hardly if not ever place any of them as Lawful Good or Neutral Good. (Rarely I'd say any could be considered one, even if they are nice & make good decisions. It's practically once a Century kind of thing.) Lawful Neutral or True Neutral is the closest to good as possible I think any politician could potentially be. Like, you placed Aragorn as Lawful Good & just like Peach, he was appointed the position as ruler of their Kingdom and it really wasn't something they sought after. Just that the people trusted them and they wore the crown of leadership well, just as that Dumbledore quote you once mentioned. So, love your work still. But in my honest opinion, I'm going to disagree and say Princess Peach is Lawful Neutral. Apologies if my post is a bit long. Don't be angry. Lol. 😅
General assumption: Illumination will be handling everything else under the Mario umbrella. Donkey Kong, Luigi, Wario, Yoshi. Nintendo Pictures, if they're going to be anything other than an animation support studio, will, at the very least, handle prospective Fire Emblem, Golden Sun and Xenoblade adaptations. Those three are Nintendo's SUPER ANIME PROPERTIES, and production on adaptations of them should probably stay in country. Everything else will be given first look for Dreamworks to handle. Star Fox, Metroid, F-Zero, Pikmin, Mother, Pokemon, Splatoon and Kirby. Anything they reject will either go to Nintendo Pictures (Star Fox, Metroid, F-Zero, Pikmin, Mother) or Illumination (Pokemon, Splatoon, Kirby).
I totally agree with you on "She's a badass, but not this kind of badass." Peach doesn't have to be a capable fighter to be a strong character. I'm kind of getting tired of no-nonsense, don't need no man characters. As an afab person I sometimes like to see physically weak, but smart female characters, but I also like strong ones. Nowadays it feels like most mainstream media is only doing this kind of character to pander to people.

Really didnt see Peach as a girl boss. Shes a lil more competent, and presumably helped made so by having plenty of time to train to me. Whats the beginning course for Mario was also probably not the one for the princess. After that scene though even if she were the best there day one, shes not the central hero. Shes not who beats Kong, not the main player in the kart scene, not the one who beats Bowser.
The only thing is I hope they don't do a Legend of Zelda movie but another attempt at an animated series. And what I would think would be awesome as a horror movie is Metroid
Could you do an episode on ledo and Amy from Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet. It was a anime that came out 10 years ago, and went under the radar when it came out. Also, gotta disagree on Peach. On both points, She was asked to be the leader of the Toads, by the Toads. And her only motivation to to take the throne was to protect the people who raised her. She's Gotta be somewhere in the good. On a more serious note, I like this Peach. She's proactive and fun. She seems like someone worth saving beyond being the princess.

god, i'm sick of that argument. no. her personality is COMPLETELY changed and so is her fighting style. at BEST, they gave her daisy's personality and attitude. her personality has been consistent throughout the video games. she was never this archtype of character. Illumination just didn't want to give her a frying pan and a parasol to fight with. don't call it outdated either because that's an obnoxious cop out, tangled did the same thing and everyone loved it. even in smash bros (where she is consistently a top tier fighter) she fought with a dainty princess attitude
Requesting Yor from _Spy X Family._ I mean, she’s an assassin, which is pretty much a guaranteed Evil starting alignment, but she’s also working under official sanction, so Lawful? But when she’s _not_ doing that, she’s incredibly sweet, so that’s why I want your take.
Personally I think Peach's characterization in the movie was alright, somewhat girlbossy without being too in your face or overbearing. The main problem in my eyes is that it seems a bit too close to Daisy and when I think of Peach's personality I always think of Smash Bros. Brawl and how she acted in Subspace Emissary, more specifically the cutscene of her just vibing on the Halberd while everything is exploding around her and later forcing Sheik and Fox to sit down and become friends. Calm and collected in the face of certain doom since she's been through so much, and firm and almost motherly when needed. Still capable of kicking butt, but it will likely be followed by a stern talking to and a cup of tea to make you feel better after all is said and done.
Maybe it's because I see a lot of stuff from Pringus McDingus, but I pretty much always see Daisy as a chaotic gremlin. Peach in this movie is definitely not that.
Okay I have a character I would really like you to analyze. Like specifically YOU Stewart because I think you would have an interesting perspective on and that's Itachi Uchiha from Naruto. I personally see him as a tragic figure but I want to see if that's the conclusion you come too. Also unlike dome other Naruto he's really not in that many episodes so I feel like it might actually be doable.
