ELYSIA, the Tub looks best on the wall opposite the Bathroom Cabinet. Putting the Tub in front of the window puts the Tub too close to the Bathroom sink. I believe putting the Tub in front of the window may prove to be a big mistake. LOVE YOUR NEW TOILET. ASK PHIL TO BUILD YOU ALL A FOOT STEP. 😊🤟🏼💕🙏🏼
Yes no matter how good windows are, it will be chillier by the window and it detracts from vanity and vanity from the tub. On other wall both will shine!
@@GP-dw3hb yes and it’s her decision. I just love the tub and the vanity and would love to be oh wow look at each piece, more than the two beside each other.
Was actually going to post the same comment. My husband was a contractor for 35 years and never caulked around a toilet for the reason you mentioned. He also never cut the flooring out like the English's did either. Should only cut out around the wax ring.
FYI, plumbers recommend you put the flooring under the toilet so it sits on a completely flat surface. So you only cut out where the seeer pipe is. 😊 Also, you get a better caulk seal around the base in case it overflows or leaks.
I have 2 squatty potty’s and when they arrived the box was so big I opened it on my front porch and my neighbor saw me opening them and commented he loves his! Also a big game changer! We all love ours
Oh Elisha I am worried for you. I have heard plumbers say never cualk around a toilet because if it gets a leaked you are sealing the water into your subfloor. Also our toilets our set on the flooring/tile. What you put in was an ADA approved toilet for those who need risers or using wheel chairs. Sometimes these are better for aging people but to go properly to the toilet when pushing it is better that your feet touch the floor to help your muscles do the work. My grandson had to have a step stool in front of him for a while. Sorry to present these issues but just a FYI. Great progress as the bathroom comes along. Also go below from the washroom/pantry and plug up that hole so you don't get wear in that divet.
I love the green, wonderful choice. Young lady I must say I think that’s the first I’ve seen you in a pair of blue jeans. You should wear them more often 😊. Glad you are feeling better Philip. The bathroom is coming along nicely.
@@GP-dw3hb a; Also, you are not suppose to silicone around the bottom of a toilet. If there is a leak, you aren't going to know it until it leaks through the ceiling below. Also, if they have to replace their toilet at some point in the future, they may not be able to find the same model so the floor won't go around the new toilet . It's a pain in the butt, but if it were me, I'd tear out the flooring around the toilet area and re-cut new pieces so that it just has an opening around the toilet flange.
I’m like in where the tub is right now. It looks good on that wall. You should’ve painted behind your toilet before you put it in place. Oh well good luck with it. Be safe God bless.
You should have put the new flooring all the way under the toilet, running the flooring up to the toilet leaves an area for drips and leaks to gather. It will hold smells in there.
Happy to see Phillip up and back in the game. You should have painted behind the toilet before putting the new one in, because it looks like it is tight to the wall. The bathroom is going to be beautiful. I cal see why you would want to paint the cabinets that color.
GREEN KITCHEN! GREEN KITCHEN! I totally see it working in your space with the good hardware and the counters it would look so dreamy!! Loving the way this bathroom is turning out!!
wow this bathroom is going to be gorgeous. I can't wait to see it when it's all finished. You really are such a talented decorator and carpenter and whatever else needs doing you just get it done. Love it!!
I now am watching three RU-vidrs who bought houses in Nova Scotia and all are totally needs for remodeling. You, of course, were my first! What is with that? But, if I was just a bit younger, I would be joining all of you. Have a wonderful day. You are doing a wonderful job, no matter how long it takes.
@@cindygaudet1390l know two that I watch in NS. Van Wives and Tyler and Todd. They’re great at creating something out of nothing despite the challenges of the weather. I’m watching from the South Pacific 🌞☀️🕶️
Coincidentally, I am watching this while waiting for a final drywall compound coat in my bathroom to dry and before I prime the walls. Your progress keeps me going!
Why didn’t you put the flooring under the toilet? You just had to leave a hold for the flange. The wax seal would fill the gap, that’s what it’s for. You actually should not use silicone caulking around a toilet either. If there is a leak under the toilet it will go unnoticed and leak into the ceiling below.
Loved watching you set the toilet. I have done this a few times myself so I totally understand the process and I will be doing this again soon in the house I recently bought. It is so rewarding to be able to do these type of renovations yourself. Such a great feeling of accomplishment and you appreciate everything so much more than if you had hired some to do it. You are truly an inspiration to all of us DIYers! Blessings and Love!
I feel so blessed to have the ability to connect with you via RU-vid. Although we are many miles apart, it is awesome to share our experiences and give encouragement to each other in the many journeys of life. With all the negative energy in the world today we must never lose sight that there are more good souls in this world and together we will overcome the darkness with our combined light and joy! Blessings to you and your lovely family!
Its looking so good already. I can picture gold pipes or rods hanging over your bathtub to hang beautiful shower curtain. Curious as to why you cut around the toilet instead of just around the wax ring. So excited this is such an epic makeover 😊
I admit I wasn’t a fan of painting the cabinet but after seeing the paint color, which is beautiful, I think the white cabinet is going to be the perfect fit. You always make the best choices. I just have to trust the process more lol. Thanks for sharing.
I love the bathroom so far. I am not sure why you didn't paint behind the toilet before installing it. It doesn't look like you have room to paint it while it is installed. Just wondering.
Hahahha I just had the same toilet put in my bathroom. From home hardware! I had the plumber take the kindergarten toilet out of the basement bathroom and put a big kid toilet down there. It was gross just like your old one! The bathroom is looking fab!!!!!
You do know you're not supposed to caulk around a toilet bottom. If your toilet starts to leak you won't know until it's rotted out the floor because the water would be sealed in underneath the toilet. You would have been better off to have run your flooring and just cut a hole for the opening for the drain of the toilet. You never caulk around the bottom of a toilet.
I am laughing so much as I watch you guys install and TEST the height of your new toilet. I too installed a tall toilet with the quiet, soft closed lid. Love it, no more loud bangs of the seat slipping out of small hands during late night visits. The tallness of the toilet is a bit of a learning curve as my fiance and I are on the short side too. He is 5'5 and I am 5'1. My feet do not reach the floor either. Your bathroom is looking so beautiful and will be a nice focal point in your upstairs living space. Until your next video, have a wonderful evening with your boys. ~Debi in Ohio
Wow! You two crack me up! Good to see that Phillip is well on the mend. Looking good! Can't wait to see the final results! Talk about a cliffhanger. LOL Until then, stay well and be blessed English family ❤
Oh my I still love the colour! And you will get used to the toilet seat and believe me won’t be long till you go so ewhere else and be like man that toilets a long way down😅plus any time have a sore back, knees etc it’s a godsend! You guys rest up don’t get sick or sicker! I was reading a few comments recently about bathtub. I agree it takes room from the vanity and doesn’t allow vanity or tub to showcase in the room. Have you laid in the tub to actually see what you will see out the window. Plus some nice plants would really fill the space well. Or a quilt antique or newer)to use as towel rack be nice in front of window. But it just feels so close to the vanity.
So glad the boys and Phil are on the mend. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT GREEN!!! I love tall toilets, but I’m 5’9, ours is short. LoL 😂 I know several are saying to put the tub along the wall and not in front of the window. I do agree, but once you place the oval ring above the tub, they’ll probably see why you chose the window area. AND YES!!! The cabinets would look awesome that color!! Even if it’s just for the lowers and keep the uppers white. Love 2 tone kitchens!
OMG - Thank you! I needed to laugh and the toilet install did it - and you two sitting on it. I'm still laughing and will think about this all night long! I love you guys! and - thank you again.
Comfort height toilets in Canada are higher than in the US. Found that out the hard way. In the US you would only want the higher one. Bathroom looking great, love the green.
I was laughing so hard at you guys you are hilarious. I'm only 5ft so I can relate. I was shocked to see you were wearing jeans but they look great on you. I can't wait till tomorrow to see more of the renovation. Hello Philip it's good to see you back at it. See you tomorrow 🤟
I think you got a lot done. Just the floor and toilet are difficult and time consuming. I am excited to see the progress. Phillip do not too much, or it will come back on you. I have had it and when I feel better I do too much and bam it is back again. I am mainly now just tired. Going to one thrift tore exhausted me, I got up and dusted, wiped one bathroom down, vacuumed, swept and mopped then went to the thrift store. I was so tired. Made us homemade meat ball subs, on homemade French bread from the day before. I was done for the rest of the afternoon. Been a few weeks and I still do not have my voice back. Still have the cough and that is with meds. Peace!
Oh, when you two sat on the toilet and your feet didn't touch the floor that was so funny 😆 all you need is a cute little handmade stool to put your feet on. Love the progress
Get one of those “Potty Steps”. And I love the bathtub against the wall like that. Much better than too close to the sink cabinet. I’d rather see beautiful plants near the window. You can still have the surround thing for the tub in the corner. But…. IT IS YOUR HOUSE…❤
Glad Philip is on the upswing! I have a friend who just built a house and they have the antique green in their kitchen cabinets. It is so pretty and I'm not even a green lover. You should do it!
Philip !!🎉🎈😄 You sound rough , but you’re out of bed - and now you have a clean new pot to pp in !!!! 😂 It’s high off the floor, but that’s what a small foot stool is for. And you could also install a handrail on the wall to use as a safety leverage to stand up . The type that older people use and in hospitals…. ( once you have one, you’ll never understand how you lived without it 👍 when you’ve had surgery or injuries, it really helps ) I agree with other commenters that the tub would look better on the wall opposite the vanity, and a flower 🌺 plant stand at the window. Whatever you decide, this bathroom is going to be gorgeous!!
Yay a new toilet! Maybe get a Squatty Potty so that your feet can touch something? Regardless, it’s so exciting to see the bathroom renovation coming together!
I'm told there is a heated debate in plumbing circles re: toilet caulk. To caulk or not to caulk...Caulking makes it neat and tidy but locks water in if there are leaks so the leak in not found until its done some real damage. Not caulking allows water out and lets you know if there is a leak but doesn't look as nice. My plumbers advice to me was: if you can't stand NOT caulking then only caulk the back (assuming its level)-then water will show up at the front where you'll see it and can respond to it. Re: toilet height-there seems to be a trend towards having a stool in front of the toilet. Looking good!
