Reminds me of a video clip I watched of people competing in some running event and the one in the lead found himself competing with the cameraman and the cameraman had to run faster to get the shot 😂
I was definitely spoiled when I went through Marine boot camp back in 2014. None of my drill instructors were fat bodies, all were squared away with perfect uniforms at all times. I never saw them eat, drink, laugh, or smile. They were like robots filled with rage and i was treated like a piece of trash until the day I earned the title and became something more.
@@tbone8839 Maybe a bit different but not sure how much. We didn't have any surveillance so it was pretty much anything goes. The only case we had where a DI got in trouble was due to a recruit getting their head smashed open against a pillar. Even then they tried covering it up by saying he did it to himself but higher command got involved and figured it out real quick. I've heard stories about the 60s and 70s and they sound fairly similar and in some cases easier just depending on the individual
To everyone in the comments talking about how “unnecessary” and “uncivilized” recruit training is: That’s the entire point. The instructors don’t just yell and scream for the hell of it, it’s by design. They need these recruits (especially those in the Marine Corps and Army) to be able to function in highly stressful and chaotic environments such as a combat zone. If they don’t learn how to operate in such environments, they will shut down and not be able to function and complete their mission when and if that time comes. Combat is ugly, and your leaders are not going to hold your hand and politely ask you to load your machine gun or grab the extra ammo when grenades are exploding and people are actively shooting at you.
That and allowing soldiers to recount experiences of abuse and the resulting trauma, over a cup of coffee helps bond and improve cohesion, trust, loyalty to the fighting organization they’re a part of, and morale, mainly cause they did research, and found guys who bond through trauma have pretty good relationships. So yeah, it ain’t pointless, it’s the most cost effective and easy method for them to fill a need.
Only difference with my British army training is how warm and cuddly the DI's are. They were bullies but for a damn good reason as you so rightly point out, The cadets must fit into the Army etc , not the other way around. They helped save my life. I'd do it again if I could.
@@dumboi5369is that why male and female soldiers get assaulted in training or when stationed and cant get any help or report it? It's an evil group of people doing evil things and expecting to be paid for it. It's no surprise vets get no respect by the government, why respect someone who accepts money to do this?
@@TheZombaslaya I wouldn't be surprised if lots of Secret Service members asked for a transfer to another branch or outright took an early retirement. I wouldn't want to be affiliated with them.
I just had to click on this. Now I will probably be dreaming tonight that I’m back in basic. Happens about once a year. That was 50 years ago. Sometimes just don’t go away. I didn’t enjoy a minute of it at the time but I’m sure glad I did it.
I know this is completely off subject, but does no one else see the absolutely gorgeous, candy striped lawns at some of these military institutions? Those lines! From one professional to another, brother landscaper, you have great skill and my utmost respect. Your skills on that mower rivals that of an artist with a passion and a paint brush! Respect.
I became a Marine in 2004. There is a reason why you can become a Marine, change branches and not need to go through their boot camp. USMCRD San Diego Ca is NO joke! They take boys and turn them into men! All the other branches y’all showed hella content than you did with the Marines. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
this is cute, especially the part where they got to call their moms to say they made it to boot camp safe. its like the first day at a new school or summer camp. i like how this short exposé gets right into it so you feel you are there. good cameraman.
I went through boot camp in 1985 and I didn't learn anything worthwhile or anything that improved my life. When fraternities and sororities do things like this to their pledges it's called hazing and is a crime.
i lasted two year in the hell of russia, this si nothing.. usalually they dont scream.. and they dont talk to much the only scream you lsiten is from kadettes.. если ты недоволен, умоляй врага застрелить тебя, потому что мы не принимаем тебя в ответ
It's all mentality, they'll get you through the physical part. Every size can go through it and I've seen it personally. Short, Tall, big, skinny, doesn't matter.
I find it funny how the military pays its privates $20k/year, but Virginia Military Institute charges $60k/year in tuition. Sums up the American dream pretty well.
The VMI graduate's students who will become Officers who get paid a lot more money than a basic soldier. But it was a stupid statement made by a "Bot" anyway. This answer is for "real" intelligent people.
@@Sugarmountaincondo For what it's worth, this stupid "bot" thinks you're an asshole and, based on your own post history, wouldn't know an intelligent person if one came up and stared you in the face.
@@Sugarmountaincondoare you kidding? People will still have to give up at least half of their paycheck a month for how ever many years you were schooled but double the years just to pay it off. I'd recommend you do proper math.
I will always cherish my time at Fort Benning and the shark attack. It was an experience I'll never forget, and the DSs I had, I still remember. I'm glad I went when I did. Queen of Battle Follow Me! ❤
Nice to see US Army Air Assault School's infamous "Zero Day" thrown in here. Having done it twice, I can say it was definitely one of the worst days in the Army. Sucks to see Miller and McCurdy make it through Zero Day and the rest of the school and fail on the 12 mile road march at the end of the couse.
Congrates, study hard and hopefully you get assigned to a good station/ship and once "aboard" your new ship, study a lot more and earn your Surface Warfare Pin 👍👍 Salute
I arrived at Lackland Aug 28th 2022. Those first few weeks are gonna suck, but just keep your shit together and push through. See you in the big Air Force :)
I have ALWAYS respected our military men/woman but watching this makes me respect them 10 times more! They are doing this and going through this because they chose to do so to serve and protect this great country.
Man, things sure have changed in the last 20-odd years. When I was in OSUT Infantry Basic at Ft Benning, they fucked hard with us. I still remember it.. They would tell you to "grab 2 bags" inside of 2min. People would look for THEIR bags instead of just grabbing 2 bags, and so smoke session ensues. It took 4hrs for us to get the bags unloaded.. Those were the days.
I am not so sure i would openly admit to being denied Marine entry based on ASVAB score... If you can scribble with a half chewed crayon onto a piece of over sized construction paper, you can pass most branches ASVAB.
the ASVAB is not a test that only certain people pass or fail. You failing the ASVAB shows you weren't where you should have been knowledge and education wise at that time. Every story full of excuses starts with "I was going to join the military but..."
did anyone else think the superiors telling them what to do in the beginning weren't intimidating at all? then my man rolls in at at 4:12 and im like ohhhh ok shit this not gonna be easy anymore lmaoooooooo 👀
Isn´t the shaving of hair a measure to stop the spread of lice or fleas? Doesn´t not shaving hair of women make this practice seem it is about control or demeaning toward male cadets?
I would LOVE to see Business Insider come to Canada to look into the Basic Military Qualification of the Canadian Armed Forces. There really isnt much media out there of what exactly goes on at BMQ ever since the old tv show Basic Up! got cancelled. I would love for future recruits to be able to get an idea of what's precisely they have waiting for them once they get sworn in.
Welcome to the Navy and Great Mistakes! Aww the memories. To the clueless complaint about the shouting, it is to increase the stress level, when in the fleet you will have to deal with real stress that involves peoples lives. the military, all branches, is a real deal. Then again not all people have the qualities to serve. If you are a snowflake, please stay out and find your calling. While your comment was read, it is not necessary because this is a life you will never fit in or understand.
All that screaming is not stressful, is just stupid and annoying. Is this supposed to be intimidating? I'd be expelled on the first day, because I would laugh at their faces.
not everyone will have the same experience... however, i was only paid E1 pay in bootcamp.. i graduated bootcamp and went stright to E-3... in less than a year i took and passed my E4 exam... this at the time (years ago) was 2200 a month. now take into consideration that is base pay not BAH and not BAS... never mind that i had free health care, free dental, my rent was paid via BAH... as a 21 year old (i graduated bootcamp on my 21st birth day) i was left with at least 2000 a month in MY MONEY .. after bills, after expenses.... how many civilian jobs leave a 21 year old with this kinda money even today.. now lets assume you went it in 18, and you are now 38... you retired from the military at 38..... Your base pay is 5700 a month.. still your medical is free.. you still earned BAS and BAH on top of your base pay.. bla bla bla.. you get out of the mil. and have now got a 2400ish retirement check for the rest of your life... AND you can go get another job.. and retire from that as well if you so desire... many people do exactly that and by the time they are 70 they are pulling 2 government retirements at the same time.
The VMI is so cringe man. I’m a SPC right now and live nearby them. One of my buddies went to VMI and was granted leave days and I went to go pick him up after work so I was uniform. around 7 different cadets stopped me and told me I had to salute them😂 I was like, no you’re not in the military and you don’t have a real rank man
Navy: 🗣️🗯️ WHY ARE YOU SO SLOW?! CGuard: 😇 YOU GOT THIS! WE NEED YOU🫶🏼 Army: 🪖 WE'LL GIVE YOU FOOD BUT GRUNT SAY GRUNT DO! 🧠❌ BPatrol: YOUR A RECRUIT? YOU LOOK LIKE AN IMMIGRANT! YOU NERVOUS? I LOVE YOU! PLEASE STAY 🥺 SService: 🗣️HOLSTER YOUR GUN CATHERINE!!!💅🏼
No, I noticed it as well. They seem to snub the Marines in this video, we only get to see the first bit of the Marines receiving process. I was kind of disappointed.
3:35 I was in the U.S. Army 22 years. Those are the FATTEST Drill Instructors I’ve ever seen 😂 The military has really lowered its standards… laughable those DI’s are the best they could find. Wow.
recent retireing cuban greco roman wrestler continuous gold medal streak secure'd in olympic competition does speak volumes for size haveing a place in service` twenty year keeping it up protection package .
First, according to many researches, stress lowers cognitive performance. Yes, thinking under stress is important, but these people won't learn how to think well when not under stress. Like when you are on your military camp before a real combat, you want the leader to be able to plan and organise well and smartly. Second, why all that shouting and screaming, an honoured man is a strong man with better allegiance.
Hysterical how people think basic training or boot camp is so awful or difficult. Getting yelled at once in a while isn’t that difficult. The drills can’t touch you so relax and take the yelling. Like Forrest Gump said, I’ll do whatever you say Drill Sergeant 😂
$20k sounds alright but then you remember they make you pay for food and housing which is like $700 a month or more plus after basic essentials only leaves you less than 10k a year 😭
That commanderita starting at 3:23 was hilarious and not intimidating at all. She sounded like anybody's mom pissed that you're not ready for the school bus. DEI at work.
Look at how out of shape those "Marines" are there is no way they could even pass the physical fitness requirements. They're close to 50 pounds over weight
They should keep the 🦈 shark attack. It served a purpose. I remember it I still get a little nervous when I see Drill Sgt. 30 yrs. later.😊 Duty Honor County.
First video in ages where Army Drill Sergeants are giving an ass chewing. Every other video is lowkey covered. I joined way back in the day, but I can tell you hazing is still a thing, just under the table.
Their baby has CF and they left him alone😮. My God be could have choked on his phlegm. I used to babysit a family who had 5 children 3 of them had CF all ( Idk what life expectancy is now) died in there late teens early 20s. You would think they would want to treasure every moment they had with him. So Sad. Hope the grandparents give them a hand. They look young and having a very sick child isn't easy. What they did was AWFUL!! I Hope he is getting better care now.
Oh god, theyre still making Navy recruits wear those nasty ass cloth masks? Back when I went through in 2020, they forced us to wear those things and they got digusting fast
i spent 6 of the most horrible years in the one place on earth everyone called HELL! even to this day, i am still not allowed to talk about where i was despite it being more than 30 years ago. i remember my first day amd even my service number and every day after that for the entire time i was where i was. and the most oddest thing of all, every colour seemed to be grey, or black and white. and despite what everyone thought of the place, i still did 3 tours in the same place!
Navy SEALs don't have basic training, because they've already been through Navy basic. Theirs is just a school like Ranger school, Air Assault, Airborne, etc us for the Army.
But a SEALS ability to balance a red ball in his nose while wearing Oakleys and having shiny hair for a Mark Wahlberg movie doesn't make them any cooler than normal infantry
1:20:38 I highly doubt that you’ve ever experienced any ACTUAL negative racism. But I would believe that you’ve experienced plenty of AFFIRMATIVE racism.
