Hello everyone,
Today in my studio I was in an experimental mood. I wanted to try the 10" deco mesh using the curly loop method AND try adding different materials, like this yarn, to make a multi-materials wreath.
I'm on the fence with this wreath, as I love the colours and the loop curls, but I'm not sure if I like the outcome of the wreath...And honestly, I wasn't going to post this video. BUT, after some discussions with another YTer, she convinced me to upload it and let you all decide what you like about, what you would change, or maybe not change. I am open to start a discussion on how this wreath could be better, or if you like it, or love it, or dislike it...LOL....Let me know in the comments down below.

Hi Dave,, I'm new to wreath making. I started a few months ago kicking around the idea. One of your videos was the first video I watched and I immediately subscribed. I replayed that video a few times before actually trying. I then binge watched many of your videos. Firstly, you chose my favorite color, purple! And if weren’t for experimenting, we’d never have any beautiful things. It’s all about prototypes. I love how you teach, so clearly, every step of the way. You always choose the prettiest colors, matching them so well with other colors. You have a great eye for colors, so tasteful. The fun part now is taking what you’ve made and creating another result. I loved the crimping as well, good idea. You’re a talented teacher, and you teach us that not everything goes as well as you plan, but give us the building blocks to push on to learn more.

Dave, I really like your presentation style by always giving detailed basic instructions for materials used and ways to cut, hold, bundle, twist tie, attach, etc. with the mesh, ribbon, and yarn!!! I appreciate how you fast forward repetitive steps to keep the video short and engaging👍🏼Also, I like hearing your thought process of what you are doing and how you share your creative arranging ideas as you go. Welcome back, Dave! Colors are great!! ❤❤ I think less decomesh and more yarn perhaps would balance the wreath; maybe use a loop yarn which gives more of a fluff when wound around the wreath frame which would balance out the fluff of the mesh. I think the crimped tails are not so great. Would like to see a softer drape on the ribbon tails. Just my opinion. Pretty darn good for something very different. 👌😊😊

Love the colors!! I was holding my breath with the first placement of the bow. BUT, as soon as you changed it to show more of the yarn, I yelled YES!!!!! If i were to "test" something different on this beautiful wreath, I'd forego the tails altogether. ❤

Once you curled the bow tails it just came to life. Not sure though if mixing the crimping and rolling the tails together had me hesitate a bit. You definitely have a creative gift. Thank-you for sharing.

It is beautiful, I love the mesh colors and yarn texture. I really like the way you talk yourself through the process and showing it is okay to challenge yourself. I like the way you crinkled the ribbon ends. I love watching your videos. I have learned so much from them. I think this wreath is absolutely beautiful the way it is. With those colors I would think that it would be great for a baby shower, just add some baby bottles, diaper pins and rattles. Thank you for the great videos and teaching.

Yes I like it. A very interesting idea using the chunky yarn.I love the crimping and curling of the ribbon too - must have a go at that. I must admit I find it difficult working with deco mesh but this method looks easier, - must have a go at that too. Thank you Dave for the inspirations.

First, I think you are by far the best instructor I have seen. You are so clear and concise. Your voice is perfect. As far as the wreath goes, I'm no expert, but I am on the fence with you. I absolutely love the colors and each piece on it's own. If I were making it, I would perhaps add a dragonfly or a small grouping of flowers on the yarn section. But I do love it either way. Hi Dave I just LOVE your wreath video's, on this one I'm with you on the fence love the color of Deco Mesh, love the rolls or curls as some call that method, I also love the yarn & ribbon you used for bows didn't care for the accordion pleats on the pink & white striped but with it having a right & wrong side might not of looked as good as the blue & white that you curled! Have to say I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE how you curled the ribbon tail's w/ the blue & white solid ribbon now as for my personal opinion I think @ the opposite edge where the yarn meets Deco Mesh add a small sign like 5"X5" , 5"X7" No bigger so you see some approximately ⅓ of the yarn showing in between where the ribbon & the sign or flowers etc are attached.

I love the mermaid colors Dave, but I'm not a huge fan of this wreath. I think it was good that you tried your idea, but the mesh is so much larger than the yarn it just doesn't look like it is a good flow to me. You know I'm one of your biggest fans, but as wreathmakers, and I'm one myself with an Etsy shop, sometimes our ideas just don't pan out and that's fine! Hi Dave. I love that you are thinking out of the box. I love the mesh and the yarn. I don't believe the ribbon goes with it. It clashes. I do agree with another comment for a ballerina doll. I think that would be really cute. My thought is to put a small sign with lavender flowers or even add lavender and make a sachet of sorts. I believe your idea is sound. You could even add butterflies or dragonflies. I like to garden so that's the direction it takes me. ☮️🌍🌲

This is actually quite versatile i think. I can see it as a take on a half moon Halloween vibe, i can see having the mesh on the bottom in maybe a more neutral color and having flowers on top giving it a faux planter look (even tho that would not make the yarn a star in the show) or even add birds or something like it's a faux nest for the spring, i can see adding different sprays and add ons to the top of the bow giving it even more detail in that way, seriously you could do so much! I really like that it's not quite as busy as a full deco wreath and gives it a more simplistic touch. I personally find a lot of times deco wreaths, with all the bow bundles and sprays to be way too busy and my eye doesn't draw to any one thing, hard to see mistakes but also hard to see all the beautiful details we all work so hard to put into our creations. I think the crinkled and twirled ribbon is beautiful, really tied it in with the deco mesh, not at all too much. Really great idea!

I love the colors and I'm so happy that you got to do some fluffing!!! 😉 I think the ribbon tails are a little too long and that it should have solid colors of ribbon.. the striped one throws me off . I want to try this method and try the 6in deco mesh and use the brown rope(can never remember the technical word) and have a patriotic theme. Thank you for always opening my eyes to new ideas
