*Fun fact about MangaalYaan* Mangal means Mars in Sanskrit and it's various derivative languages of India. Yaan/Jaan, means Vehicle in the same language. In ancient practice of India, all days of a week are named after various planets. Thus, Tuesday is known as Mangaal'baar or 'the mars day's in almost all Indian languages. The scientists of ancient India were far ahead of their time.

India has a long and storied history of Astronomy that is not well covered in Western history teaching. Much of the Muslim Golden Age of Knowledge was (at least in part) inspired by the advancements from India, which in turn were eventually re-re-discovered by the Europeans. By then, the technologies were more advance and thus it is the Europeans who are often credited as the discoverers of many great things. And rightfully so, although credit also goes to those whose shoulders they stood upon.

Another fun fact: the basic concept of 7 days a week throughout the world is also something that orignated from ancient indian astronomers, who provided a system of naming the 7 days of a week after special celestial bodies. I forgot the system for choosing those celestial objects but you might find it by searching on RU-vid.

Interesting stuff. There is a similar thing in Western nomenclature, Saturday is named after Saturn, for example. And of course several of the months of the year are named after Roman emperors and gods/goddesses: July (Julius), October (Octavian, it was also originally the 8th instead of the 10th month because the Roman calendar didn't count January and February as months originally), August (Augustus), March (Mars), May (Maius), January (Janus), June (Juno), etc.

As a life-long fan of Mars expeditions, I congratulate you and thank you for the clear, color photos. The landforms were well-explained in your video. I especially liked the image of moon Phobos crossing the planet, the dust devils from above, and the edge-on view of the Martian atmosphere. Thanks.

This was easier to understand than our USA research lol. The ordinary camera really helped me 👍🏾

Razzle Dazzle easier to understand because they discovered fuck all! the pictures are a bit pathetic tbh, it's not much better than what you can see through a powerful telescope.

@@debateit5174 You sound like some pathetically jealous and a ignorant fellow . Other probes dont send many normal RGB imagery data coz it costs communication bandwidth. Its not your home WiFi on the ac mains with unlimited bandwidth and power , over a short distance. Its actually the inverse. But indians have a upper hand here .... they have superior communication, and also devices to do back n forth talking. Rest give your ignorant ego some rest..... will do you good. No telescope, no matter how big can view with this clarity from earth. Not even Hubble ,not in the visible spectrum .

Ajai Chauhan lol you're a joker, it's achieved fuck all so what would I be jealous about? Maybe jealous of the Americans who actually have functioning equipment orbiting Mars collecting better images and data. They had what the Indians have now years ago.

Indeed, what a magnificent achievements by Indian scientists! Some news channel was reporting they did this mission at 1/3rd the cost of the movie Gravity. Where the western countries race the space at what ever the cost may be, India does all those at a very sustainable cost. This also signals their space research teams’ level of commitment, honesty & sourcing of major parts locally from within their own country to keep the overall project cost at reasonable and sustainable. Even once, they choose the most respected scientist or rocket engineer as their president (I guess). I am sure their neighbouring countries’ will have so much to learn and help from India. Great going India!!! - Fan from 🇧🇷
