In this video,
I will explain the connection between ymir and mikasa in attack on titan and how it led to erens rumbling. ymir fritz had some regrets from the past that made her to wait for someone to liberate her from that torture.

I slightly disagree with how you describe Mikasa as a slave to love. Yimir loved king fritz because she didn’t know what real love looked like. Mikasa loved Eren because he cared for her(even if he didn’t like to show it) in the end Mikasa killed eren because it was her only choice if she didn’t the rest of humanity would have died and the titans curse would continue. Mikasa exercised her own free will both when she protected eren and killed him which is something yimir didn’t know how to do. Yimir learned how to use free will from mikasa example. This would allow yimir to free herself from her servitude and end the titans curse. But Mikasa never truly wanted to be “Free” of eren because to her eren was never a burden to be free of. In the end they learned that Mikasa was never a slave and yimir was never in love. The sad conclusion that we are left to face is that yimir never got to be free and Mikasa never got her love because in the end they both sacrificed what they wanted the most for the greater good.

THIS is the true moral of this entire story. Or at least one of the major ones, there are so many powerful messages throughout this show.

I would like to add that at some point we learn Ackerman's are a result of experiments with spinal fluid injected in foetusses, this could make sense for some sort of connection combined with what you said as she had the similair love conflicts she might felt a similair way. Or in some way Ymir has always been making sure Mikassa went along with what would eventually happen as Erin's plan causing the connection with her giving her the headaches, or she simply wanted to bond with her as she already knew she would eventually free her.

The only difference is Mikasa’s love for Eren is very neutral even being torn between her role as Eren’s protector and embracing her true feelings. Fans are missing out her promise to Eren’s mother Carla to look after for one another because he doesn’t think straight. Ymir suffers only a toxic relationship with King Fritz as he see the girl as a tool for war and conquest. Plus, he has his own concubine of women. Yes she has been a slave to him for over 2,000 years but she doesn’t play with Mikasa’s emotions by forcing her to choose humanity over Eren. Their stories may be similar, but Ymir and Mikasa are not the same.

In short, Ymir wanted someone to love the monster of a person she is no matter what. She did not have that, but Mikasa loved Eren even if he started the rumbling which Ymir never had, period.😁😁😁😁😁

There are a lot of things that will probably *sound* dumb about the ending if you try and explain it to someone that has forgotten most of what happened in the first 3 seasons. Once you are able to understand a lot of what has happened tho, it becomes much easier for the author’s message and idea of AOT to hit you. I feel like a lot of the hate towards the ending is because of how complex Isayama made the story while also because of how so many complex things were crammed into the ending. I feel like people would have a better time(including me cause I didn’t get anything the first time I watched it) consuming the information if Isayama had extended the ending because the amount of how little he explains throughout it is kind of small for how big it is. Other than that tho I love AOT and I want to thank Isayama as well as all of the animating stupid for their hard work.

Thanks for explaining! What i wonder though is if ymir could see the future, why did she need to wait for it to happen before making her decision to let go 🤔
@MD4anime
@MD4anime 10 месяцев назад
One reason maybe is You can only see what will happen. If it doesn’t happen in the future you won’t see it and the other would be that seeing the future and experiencing it might be 2 different things. By the way very good question
@adeldell8275
@adeldell8275 10 месяцев назад
@@MD4animeExactly. Experience trumps knowledge; Ymir can't just think she is free she must be free through experiencing it. Ymir isn't able to accelerate the march of time too, and taking the deterministic nature of the show into consideration makes it clear she was meant to wait 2000 years which is a well established and sad fact from the show.

Ymir might have been all-powerful as she is the Founder, but she is restricted in the Paths, a realm linked across time by Eldians past present and future, and shackled herself in a mental state of one-sided love and blind obedience. Remember that Titan power was the result of the symbiosis of the Source of All Life and Ymir. The only time Ymir could break free of being eternally trapped in the Paths (which was likely perpetuated by the existence of the 9 Titans and Subjects of Ymir in the real world) was being separated from the Source, that happened during the Battle of Heaven and Earth. The Source fought to rejoin with Eren's head and establish its parasitic symbiosis with the Founder. So we can establish that even though the Source physically manifested in the real world and was separated from the Founding Titan Shifter, Titan power will continue to persist as long as Ymir Fritz wills it (still connected via the Paths). She waited to see Mikasa kill Eren as an act of mercy and love, and that moved her enough to finally let go.

@@boxdogvids1798 The whole scene where Eren convinces Ymir to give him the power of the founder, implies that she has broken away from the grip of King Fritz, which is why it was so powerful to had seen her eyes crying in that scene because it "opened her eyes" in a sense. But with this, none of that mattered because Mikasa? It also didn't make sense that if she sided with Eren against Zeke who is apart of the royal blood line, why did Zeke dying effect the rumbling?
@boxdogvids1798
@boxdogvids1798 9 месяцев назад
@@Bluespirit12345 Eren didn’t free yimir she used eren as a kind of vessel to in-act her revenge on the world by borrowing Erens will. but she still hadn’t let go of king fritz so the titans curse still persisted and yimir was still a slave. Yimir used Mikasa example of killing who they loved most to finally let go of fritz. Killing zeke stop the rumbling because the founding titan has to ether be in contact with or be a person with royal blood. So killing zeke destroys the connection. And once again Eren didn’t give yimir free will all she did was lend him her power but without a royal the founding titan is useless and so Eren couldn’t control the wall titans and yimir would go back to serving king fritz.

@@Bluespirit12345 Ymir wasn't completely free because of Eren.. what Eren did was unleash Ymir's anger and hate towards the humanity that made her suffer which resulted in her siding with Eren and starting the rumbling. Also remember that before Eren's arrival in the paths, no other user for the founder told Ymir what Eren told her.. they all just treated her as a slave. Only Eren was the one told her that she is now the one who gets to choose what SHE wants.. no one else did that. Ymir was however not fully free as she was still stuck in the paths making titans.. which explains the other shifters transforming. Mikasa freed her from her painful and messed up idea of love by sacrificing her love for Eren. Zeke being royal blood was important for Eren to use the founder to its full potential and to control the titans. Once he died that connection was gone and the rumbling stopped. Eren isn't royal blood so he can't make full use of the founding titan without him

@@Bluespirit12345 You may have forgotten that the Attack Titan has the ability to see the future, she was able to see the future that awaited her when Eren hugged her which was already impactful enough to move her to tears and decide to use Eren as she would need to in order to actually Experience that future.

just no... i don't want to formulate a paragraph for an argument but Eren taking advantage of Mikasa is just ... dumb? Intent is about everything and especially in morale. Fair to say it's a reach and their connection is mainly due to Eren and ending the titan lineage. Could be wrong but Eren taking advantage of Mikasa's feeling to correlate a connection with the foundation of a scum's intent for a tool is just stupid to me.
