I thought this animation was very similar to Evangelion. And it is developing the narrative in exactly the opposite political direction I think this animation justifies fascism. So I don't agree with this animation's message. But I enjoyed watching it anyway🤷‍♂️ After ww2, Japan was limited in military power by the United States and became a lot of economic and social experimental sites. monetary policy, fiscal policy, quantitative easing etc.. So Japan served as a leading indicator for many capitalist Western countries. So, the meaning that the attack titan can see the future symbolizes Japan, which acts as an avant-garde for other countries The fact that they are leading the way does not mean that they can see the future, change or decide. That's why Eren said he was stupid at the end In the course of the experiment, Japan's traditional and family values collapsed, and society became depressed. The gloomy atmosphere of Japanese culture in the 1990s and 2000s arose after the collapse of the bubble economy in the 1980s Evangelion and AOT. Both animations are developing narratives based on Japanese society after the collapse of the bubble economy So I thought this was a significant message from Japan to Western society. And I didn't understand why Westerners like this. But the show was fun 🤷‍♀️ I think the meaning of rumbling is the return of state monopoly capitalism. Or national capitalism something like that. And I don't think Western liberal civil society is prepared for such fascism The expansion of capitalism leads to imperialism. And imperialism calls big wars. Reset and start over. So only innocent young people died in ww1 and ww2 🤷 And AOT's narrative justifies that cycle of capitalism End of Evangelion tried to end it. That is the difference between the two animations.

I don't think it was Eren who got rid of all Titans. If he had that power, I think he would've found a different solution. The reason the titans are gone is because Ymir can finally let go and move on after seeing the strength Mikasa had (that she doesn't, but wishes she did) to kill the one she loves the most. Ymir has been trying to connect to Mikasa the entire show, and Eren had to be pushed so far that Mikasa was forced to end his life for Ymir to get the strength to pass on. I think that Ymir was the true manipulator, using Eren to free her and Mikasa to show her letting go is possible. Which makes Eren's feeling of there is no other way, even though he truly doesn't want to commit genocide, all the more heartbreaking.

Attention to the question: why should a person wait two thousand years for a specific event to happen in the PRESENT, if she should have already seen it in the FUTURE. I honestly can’t believe it’s over. I got old watching this, from 17, now 27. It feels like Attack on Titan was a part of me. Despite knowing how it was likely to end, I wished that Eren had his happy ending. Everyone called him a villain but it was clear that the sacrifice that he made was bigger than anyone could understand. Not only would he be forever seen as possibly the biggest genocidal maniac in all of history, he would eventually be forgotten. He saw the past and the future, he saw different outcomes with his own eyes and in the end, he wanted to uphold peace for as long as possible, even if he knew such peace would not be eternal. The ending where we see that perhaps everything will repeat again and Titans will come back, maybe the memories of Eren will serve as a warning for the future humanity. Or maybe not. Human nature is indeed a pesky thing.
@sameerchandio9481
@sameerchandio9481 6 месяцев назад
You're right. The story and philosophy of AoT turned out to be waaaay more deeper than any of us realised. It showed only a brief glimps of humanity's timeline. No matter what conflict seems relevant in the present, in the grand scale of things, all is forgottent and relived. I also feel that maybe Ymir went through the same thing. And maybe someone else before her. To her, the sacrifices she had to make maybe were the only way she could have attained any sort of peace, given her time and circumstance. I guess, maybe it's actually the story of peace makers and their limited role in extending the durations humans have between conflict. If you look at it from that perspective, the weight of sustaning an entire species has been on a chosen few. Like I said, reeeeaally deep. Truly one of the greatest stories of all time.

This take is both unfair and inaccurate. The secretary was genuinely willing to give them a chance, as evidenced by both his speech and emptying his gun (his own method of self-defense) into the ground despite just receiving Marleyan reinforcements in a flanking position against the refugees. From his perspective, basically the second he offered peace, they turned into man-eating monsters who tried to keep the fight going, so his asking for confirmation that that shit isn’t going to happen again is entirely reasonable, and he even accepts Armin’s argument instead of shooting them as he easily could have.

I think the post credit scenes delicts a new cycle of attack on titan. The boy walking into the tree must be similar to the founder Ymir. This scene is almost identical to the scene of Ymir walking into the tree and getting the power of titans from that parasite. If that is true, there must have been someone similar to Eren in the past, who tried to change the world but failed to do so and got buried by a loved one like Mikasa. After that, that someone must have been morphed into a parasite (the original powerful form of titan) and Ymir must have gained her powers by the parasite. This shows that humanity can never live by without fighting and decimating each other, and how insignificant their (Eren's) will to change that is. I wonder if the Boy and the Dog both become founders and some new altered version of Titans come to being in which pet owners have an advantage. If my theory is correct, then Eren must be alive in the paths.

After reading the manga ending I was honestly so emotional I was scared to watch it animated and just go into an existential crisis over how intensely it hit me. Can’t believe we’ve been able to see such a monumental story come to an end in the manga and the anime, one of the favourite pieces of writing, no matter the medium or genre. I remember people being upset with the original manga ending but I loved that there wasn’t an easy way to tie up the conflict. I found the anime ending gorgeous too and such a beautiful way to tie everything together. It was poignant and I appreciate that there are no easy answers in the story and the cycle of war is realistic. It’s devastating but still hopeful and I appreciate that AoT reflected that reality.

@@SpoonLegend If you really think about it, all lessons have already been learned. We humans just forget the lessons because we become complacent once we (re)learn them, expecting the next generation to just know them because we know them. The lessons get forgotten eventually because they're never explicitly taught, just implicitly applied. But if the lessons are never truly understood by those who didn't have to learn them the hard way then we must eventually go through the process of (re)learning them again, the hard way. It's basically the "hard times, strong men" etc phrase.

It made the most sense, in the end. Eren had hopes and dreams like everyone else. He was a prisoner of fate, and a ended up a slave to his own pursuit of freedom, ironically. Chad Eren was just a front he put on for the Jaegerists. The frightened boy and tragic human being who confesses his love for Mikasa and Armin was the real sad Eren, and that made him more believable to me.

When Mikasa finally talks to ymir at the end it shows a clip of king fritz being assassinated while Ymir comforts her children. I believe she sent her memory of Mikasa killing Eren to her past and ended the curse. I also think there is a multiverse in all of this thus why this doesn't change their universe but it will change another universe as eren says he tested different realities but they all converge to the same outcome. Also further supported when ymir shows Mikasa a different timeline where she confessed her love to Eren and they lived his remaining 4 years in a cabin. There's an infinite number of universes for every action that could've been different and we just so happened to witness this universes version. I believe there's a universe where Mikasa and Eren do get their fairytale ending whether if it be from ymir ending the curse and letting king fritz be assassinated or from a different course of actions that brings peace to their world without mass genocide or war. And this is all I need to get my closure from that ending haha

started watching this when I was eleven-twelve and now i'm twenty. followed this anime for a long time and the ending was of course inevitable but also saddening because attack on titan has finally come to an end. i think it depicted perfectly, how the cycle of war continues on regardless. bittersweet that eren was only prolonging that cycle so his friends could live peacefully till they eventually passed as well. beautiful story telling. i will miss all of this so much, i feel like i'm going through the five stages of grief.

I think that the child and his dog at the end kinda means that people with the same situations tend to come to the same conclusions. Just like Ymir and Eren wanted power that would help them fight off their oppressors or better their situations, every generation will circle back to the same conclusion when faced with the same challenges, thinking that that’s the solution to humanity’s problems. But just as we’ve all witnessed, as long humans coexist conflicts will never cease. Because we create our own problems that ends up killing us and restarting the cycle of violence again. And I also think that maybe that’s why Eren cried when telling Armin how messed up his head was because he could see an infinite amount of past, present and future. Because no matter how much he tried to come up with a solution that completely ended the cycle of violence, he just couldn’t. Everything just kept cycling back. The endless amount of past he saw might have showed him how repetitive history is and his present might’ve proved to him how ignorant we are and the endless future might’ve showed him how insignificant his actions would be in a long run but it would at least ensure enough freedom for a few generations. Maybe that’s why it kinda took a while before the cycle of violence repeated. Or maybe not 😅😅 but all in all it was an incredible piece of work and I’m happy to have been part of it. ❤❤❤

I got the impression that almost all evil comes from religion. Notice the entire show was about “Island devils” and people wanting to be the kinfolk of a supreme being so they didn’t have to view the world around them as equal, and just like our world, men led the charge in failing to control their emotions to the expense of a baby wrapped in red being passed beside the edge of the earths sympathy.

This was more than a show to me. I've never been attached to something like this before. It honestly feels like the end of this show and the deaths of the characters actually happened in real life. Also the show being 10 years long lasted from when I got out of highschool until being 29 years old! So I also grew with this show. Lastly AOT may be a dark anime but there's alot of things in the series that in today's society are difficult to find like a true connection between friends or a significant other and a real purpose something beyond the bullshit 9-5. This show actually feels more real than life.

The whole ending arc to this series had me really upset and it took me a while to piece together why. Turns out I really don't like tragedies and was too caught up in the sci-fi action/adventure/romance aspects of the plot to realize that was exactly what the story was. So this series ended up tearing me up a bit, and the after credits scene was profound but also came across as a nihilistic gutpunch that left me reeling.

I really liked the ending but I have a different interpretation of the final scene. Seeing the child find the opening to the tree similar to how ymir did really made me feel like Eren became the centipede thing that ymir found and that the cycle of titans would begin again. I mean the creator clearly made the opening of Erens tree look like Ymirs tree intentionally. It also begs the question of how many cycles of titans there has been I mean just because Ymir is the first we see in the story doesn’t mean she was the first ever. It could be she was just the latest at that time to discover the power after countless advanced civilizations wiped each other out and restarted just like we see in the final scenes of the series. This is however my interpretation and to me makes the most sense.

There's one little detail I want to point out about the post credits scene. When Ymir fell into the tree, she was fleeing for her life, pursued by dogs hunting her down, trying to devour her alive. When the future boy discovered the tree, he had a friendly dog at his side to help him explore. Two very different moments in two very different lives. Will the power inside the tree affect the boy the same way it affected Ymir? I think that's open to audience interpretation.

I cried the entire episode. AOT is more than just an anime, it’s a story of love and tragedy. It’s a story of the human psyche and condition. Much like Sea Tatics stated, war never stops, it never changes. Eren knew this, but he also knew he had to do something to bring peace for a brief period for all he loved. AOT is a beautifully written story, a story that I have not seen in anime before or since. It’s been an honor watching this series with all of you, and it’s been an honor to watch these recap videos. @4:23 When Connie is refrencing the day they burned the bodies, its not for the fallen of those in the suicide charge led by Erwin that he is referencing, but the Battle of Trost District. When Jean and the other survivors burn the fallen, Jean through the pressure of Marko's ghost/memory decides to join the Survey Corp. Connie is jokingly blaming Jean for them being where they are because if he hadn't inspired them or deluded the original gang to follow him in joining the Scouts in that direction, the two of them would not be there about to be changed into pure titans in the Battle of Heaven and Earth.

@@zelgius3421, I advise you to rewatch the last episode so you will understand Eren’s true motivations and desires. Bringing long and peaceful life to his friends wasn’t his main desire. He did what he did just because he wanted that. He is a capricious child who just wanted to get what he wanted. He tried to persuade himself that he was doing all these things for his friends but that wasn’t true and he admitted it. He didn’t try to bring peace to world. He knew it wouldn’t happen. But he could at least bring that peace to his friends and buy some time for them to live as they wanted. Eren wanted to become free and freedom for him was equal to human annihilation. It was his main desire, not becoming villain for the world to people come together and take him down.
@Shadow6212
@Shadow6212 7 месяцев назад
The entire point of AoT was that there was no real villain, just different views and agendas people were fighting for. That's why Eren chose to become the main villain to unite everyone together by fighting the common enemy. Even tho he knew that the humanity will eventually do the same thing with wars continuing over and over, at least he wanted for his friends to live a peaceful life in the "time of piece". The ending credits also showed that what he saw was true, the human nature would always find a way to make war and life will always find its meaning. Therefore Eren is the real hero, well, an antihero and one of the most interesting characters ever written.
