Many healthcare teams operate without the input of a trained bioethicist. They use past training and sometimes a committee’s guidance to help them through difficult decisions. The presence of a bioethicist brings a fresh perspective and experience to resolving ethical dilemmas. An ethicist also alleviates some of the burden clinicians feel when they must make difficult decisions on their own. In this short video, Ryan Pferdehirt, D.Bioethics, HEC-C, explains the benefits a bioethicist can bring to healthcare settings. Learn more at PracticalBioethics.org.
