INTP, ignorance isn't disgusting; it's pitiful. You have the literal cynosure of all human knowledge at your fingertips, yet you choose to be wrong. Innocence is unawareness of the law; Ignorance is the denial of it.

I'm INFP. I dislike conformity, but it makes me feel restless and annoyed more than disgusted. If I had to pick one thing that disgusts me the most, it would be people with power or strength using it to hurt or take advantage of people without it. Bullying I guess would be the word for it.

Isn't that similar to what he said about INTPs? We are definitely similar in that regard but I have the impression that INTJs can live with lies that give them an edge over others. @@Apollo-tj1vm I don't really understand being mad at ignorance, even willful one. I believe we shouldn't waste our lives to have an informed opinion on every subject that might pop up. Instead, I believe it's more important to be excellent and have abundant knowledge about one subject. For example, I focus on researching two or three fields of IT, but completely disregard my knowledge about politics. Coincidentally, my parents know an awful lot about it, but neither I nor them press each other to learn about other's "specialty", we just help each other with it when it's needed.

INTJ to expand on the "dependence," one of my biggest pet peeves is people who have just zero introspection. Just mask after mask they wear depending on who is in front of them to the point where you wonder if they simply wouldn't exist without someone to present themselves to. There are times you might need to lie to others but there is no excuse in being dishonest with yourself. As a result, I probably partake in a little too much navel-gazing at times to analyze "what's wrong with me?"

Why? Don't you ever want to see them?" and I just "I just don't feel the need to be around people that much, I hardly miss anyone, but I still like people the same, even if we don't see eachother for months" and they almost sounded offended when they asked me "and you're happy like that? Are you reeally happy? Not just deflecting and bottling up emotions and stuff?" and I said "Yeah" and like ???? it's not wrong???? I just enjoy time alone and don't need to regularly see someone to love them? Like if you're traveling good for you, tell me about it after you come back?? Is it really wrong?

I’m a mature INTP and for me, one of the most “ignorant” things around is an automated bot that cannot discern context (it’s the reason I left the Love Who Discord within days of joining it several months ago, in fact). I get instantly turned off when there’s too much algorithmic automation employed into social media management in general. I actually trained decades ago to copyedit text, as well as studied conversational logic in college, and I guess contemporarily, these skillsets are dwindling among living, breathing humans online. It’s slightly depressing to me, in a way. I am in about 30 different Discord servers, anyway, so I guess I can be choosy in this way? I really should try to pare that number down a bit more. I cannot possibly be active in all of them, but an INTP can be an excellent lurker. 😉

an older INTJ here: we are all interdependent to some degree which is not the same as the kind of dependence we're speaking of here which is the sort where the person has the capability of standing on their own, but instead leans on others to provide as a means of lazy etc. I have a special needs son, 20yo with developmental and cognitive delays that include still wearing pull-ups cus not able to master toileting. I do not see him as an irritation or such because he is doing his best as well as he can. As long as folks are doing so, which clearly you are, cus as a new adult, of course you are not yet set up to fly solo presently, it's all good. We are all beginners at some points, and we INTJ's are often beginners at many junctures because we like to try new things a lot. It's those kinds who have no excuses for their dependencies that irk me. They're perfectly capable, they just don't want to do the work or make the effort. Excuses bother us as much as they do ENTJ's, but ENTJ's will be far more vocal about it, lol.

I'm somewhere in the middle between istj and estj and both "Incompetence" and "Laziness" aren't really describing what disgusts me the most. People often think that it is, but honestly, I'm not a machine, I understand completely well that someone can be lazy about something just because they don't want to do it but life wants them to. Or that someone can be incompetent, but again, you won't be Incompetent in something you truly love or if something is really important to you. What really disgusts me is the "empty dreaming". When people know what they want but do nothing more then *hope* that it will happen. Or even worse, when people waste their time on unrealistic dreams like "sudden lottery win". Drives me crazy. This is something that gets on my nerves a lot too, I know someone who does both these things. He has this dream of working at the zoo, yet he has to get a math credit, which math is something he's bad at, he is overweight and gets easily sore and tired, working at a zoo takes a lot of physical energy. His other dream is to go to music school and be a music composer, yet he'll drop hundreds to thousands of dollars on instruments and leave them to gather dust because he's too insecure to play in front of other people. He also says that if he can't make one of these two dreams come true then he doesn't want to live anymore, but the only thing he's doing is spending money to take classes on stuff that he could easily learn online, or buying instruments that he never plays. I wish he'd stop being so stubborn and face the facts of reality and find happiness in his strengths, which he has a lot of. I know another person who has an all or nothing attitude and puts her all into something she thinks will work out, ignoring what everyone else around her is saying, like how it's not a good idea and she shouldn't put the cart in front of the horse, or count her chickens before they're hatched, but she always does this, and the outcome is always the same.

I go into my Ni-Ti and neglect my extroverted functions. We use Fe as a tool but can detach from it in certain situations. So I believe apathy is very possible for us. There is a dichotomy to the INFJs behavior that few are privy to see. I have studied the MBTI and its functions for years, and I would like to state that I am unmistakably an INFJ. I've got some issues with the ESTJ personality sometimes, and it can also count for ENTJ's. I have several of them in my life and they indeed live up to the stereotype of always being on the move. *always* on the move... There's barely any time to reflect on anything, which is crucial to do if you want to efficiently spend your energy anywhere. Now they usually have big energy tanks, which I don't have so they might be able to spend some more. But I wonder what they could accomplish with little bit of... well steering, from INTJ's ISTP's or INTP's for example. Good example in my graduation group was an ESTJ who wanted to go on a really expensive holiday, hiking. While he got tens of thousands of dollars student debt. Then I think, you can also hike in the Belgian Ardennen instead of going all the way to friggin Sri Lanka... Bit less expensive. There's no long term planning here, no thinking ahead, just hustle and bustle. Also there was an ENTJ, who was given a certain task and basically went in working like a madman without considering wether the work she put in was the correct thing to do. Or the correct way. Spoiler, it wasn't. Hours of work down the drain basically. As an INTJ myself, this infuriates me to no end. Yes, I might spend a bit too much time in the early stages, planning, examining outcomes. But when I start doing something, it's always for good reason. So for ESTJ's and ENTJ's and some other types too actually, think before you act, there's always time for that in 99% of the situations. You'll be surprised what brainstorming for just 15 minutes will get you.
@nooneneedstoknowmyname
@nooneneedstoknowmyname 11 месяцев назад
I'm not changing my mind after just one subjective post, but this puts a small dent in my ESTJ or ENTJ being a potential type, as I'm not always on the go, I'm pretty active throughout the day and like to keep busy, but I also get annoyed by other people who are always on the go and doing stuff, I think they need to chill out. I strongly agree with looking before you leap and not just jumping into things without thinking of the consequences of their actions, like bringing a new pet in the house that needs a lot of care and attention without considering the fact that the majority of the household doesn't have the time or energy to look after another living creature. Though thinking about it, I think the issue is that they're thinking too far into the future, like something they usually say is that "with some training they'll be a great pet." and stuff like that, talking about the future. However, they ignore the reality of the situation and how whenever they've gotten a pet, they've gotten tired of having to deal with it, because they couldn't handle the hyperactivity or the animal not listening, when they usually choose to get puppy-aged high energy big dogs like duhhhh what do you expect? That right now is a bad time to bring in more responsibilities into the household, as the majority of the household works full time, they already have a baby and a toddler, and they're constantly struggling on bills, which probably wouldn't be a factor if they didn't spend all their money eating out or buying stuff they don't need only to get bored of it a few days later. They also think that some big MLM scam will work, put all their time and energy into it, and then get all bummed out when they don't, and it's super annoying having to deal with someone who is sulky. I really wish people would use their brain and look at the full picture before jumping into things.

According to this, I would have never made the connection that I am the type that I am. Neither for myself nor when it comes to my mom and dad. ISFPs description sounds more like me. And despite the fact that my mom had Fi as a dominant function, she had Te as an inferior. Meaning that whatever inner sensitivity to things she had, she wasn’t decisive when communicating those and cared deeply about the thoughts of other people. My mom cared more about belonging and being accepted. Fe being auxiliary means that it is reactive either when you notice that someone is struggling, being bullied etc or when you communicate with other people and get no clear(or any) feedback. Probably because it reinforces the loop. And even though my dad has Se as a dominant function, he fears taking risks when it comes to the long run. His nature is more impulsive which makes him come across as bold at first. But once you mention all sorts of different scenarios to him, you will see him isolate due to fear/insecurity of what the future may bring. Same with me. Se as inferior function brings a lot of insecurity. Am I doing enough now? Am I active in accepting life as it is or moving always in an opposite direction?
@Multitudes_

I agree that some of these are questionable. As an INFP, I am not disgusted by conformity, just annoyed by it sometimes and not usually too inclined to engage in it myself. Trampling on others' individuality or otherwise oppressing/violating others is much worse to me than just harmlessly conforming (conforming to something that's actually harmful is another matter). Pressuring others to conform or judging/bullying them for not doing so is worse than conforming itself. The things that disgust me the most in people tend to have more to do with how they treat others. I also think these videos often focus excessively on the Fe of IxFJs and not enough on their dominant functions... whereas, conversely, the Fi of Fi-doms can get exaggerated in terms of its staunch individuality and/or uncompromising nature.

The ENTJ one was interesting to me because I've heard a lot in my life about how I'm "making excuses," yet I gel really well with ENTJs and other INTJs. It's like they're the only people who understand that I'm not making excuses but just explaining that a system is broken and needs fixing. So I don't know if the one for ENTJs is entirely accurate since my fellow NJs are the only ones who don't accuse me of this when most other people seem hyper-sensitive about it if I tell them the way the system is set up now, someone's going to lose a finger.
@fluffsquirrel
@fluffsquirrel 11 месяцев назад
I'm an ESFJ and I understand that, it makes sense. A lot of people tend to shoot the messenger even though it's to their own detriment. We need more people to question the systems we have in place to make sure that everyone gets fairer treatment. It could also be fear, as a lot of people show favor or nationalism when anyone appears to question their system I also think it could be that people are afraid any change could potentially make their system less stable and that any change should be put under intense scrutiny. The issue lies in this being misinterpreted by some individuals who think that the system is perfect and shouldn't change, and those people tend to be the kind to brutally oppose and attack those who even question the notion that a system is imperfect, and I believe those are the people who would tend to attack you and those similar to you. Maybe that might help a bit? I realize my theory is imperfect but it explains a few issues to me and perhaps it might help you see why others oppose your viewpoints.

@jenniferhanses

@@KevinSolem Fair enough. *I* don't think of myself as "making excuses." Other people just accuse me of it if I say "This equipment is broken and dangerous, we should repair it or you're going to get sued for medical bills. The last time I tried that hose with the chemical attachment, it shot out the back and the sides, drenching me and everything in the general area with chemicals, and that is bad." I think saying stuff like that to the boss is informing them of a problem that only they are authorized to fix (since they control the money). I'm not going to say I've never made a mistake. I have, for example, underestimated the time a task would take. At which point, I'd say something to the boss of "I'm sorry I'm running late on Project X. I didn't realize Y would take as long as it did, and I will keep that in mind for the future." To me, again, that's not an excuse but an explanation of what went wrong, showing that I think I've figured out what my error is so that going forward, I will do a better job. Me underestimating Y is me being at fault. But if I can't tell you what my mistake was, then we're all just wandering around in the dark trying to fix the problem that we haven't identified with no hope that it won't happen again. And if you fire me because you think I should have known better about Y, fair enough. I did screw up. But I've been told that was also making excuses. Again, not by other NJ types though. Possibly not even by other N types. I can happily chat about extrapolating the future with other NJ, making plans and trying to account for all of the variables. Though at the moment I am self-employed. I don't have to deal much with other people, and if I do make a mistake, it's my mistake and I'm going to end up paying for it, and that's fine by me. I strangely don't make many mistakes at all when it's just me.

I will help others improve their systems if they ask, or I might make a comment like "maybe this would work better for you" but if the system is actually functioning for that person, than it's not up to me to decide that really that other person should learn to be ambidextrous to work faster (a thing that I have actually done for jobs). I'd only really push it if their system wasn't actually working and was creating bad conditions for the rest of us or was putting them in danger. I'm also not perturbed by intense scrutiny of my own systems. INTJs : One of the few types that enjoys sincere criticism. I would love it if someone could point out a flaw in my plan before I put that plan into action. That saves me having my plan fail, and allows me to potentially correct that issue and still release my plan on the deadline or whatever, assuming I can account for the flaw. Or if I have to shelve that plan, I can start working on a new plan that would not have that flaw. I'm not upset at scrutiny, I'm only upset if you put off that scrutiny so that I don't have time to fix the issues you find.

My greatest dream that always used to excite me as a kid is to get all my friends together and socialize so I know I'm a massive extrovert, but it shouldn't feel this difficult to understand the lonely-seeming lives of introverts, like how do introverts manage to push everyone away with not feeling bad about it?! Or the social battery thing, it's just too confusing and the more time I think about it, the more crazier it sounds and the crazier I get. oh I forgot to mention I'm an Esfj at least that's what an introverted family member told me, 16 personalities indicated I was an Enfp or something like that, but the cognitive functions don't quite line up. I also don't like condescending people either, I felt like I'm not included because people treat me as less so in a way I understand that, but I see that I'm looking at it from a social perspective rather than that of dignity. I think it'd probably be best to ignore the stereotypes and look at the functions in their pure form. A lot of ISFPs I know are artistic, but I'm sure not all of them are. The ones I know dislike sports, where as me, an intuitive, has a strong passion for them, I'm not that good at them, but I love playing them and being active. I heard that INTJs tend to be more outgoing and like to dance under the influence of alcohol but I'm probably not an INTJ so I can't speak from experience. I struggled with this before too, thinking I couldn't be a type because of certain reasons, but then I looked at the reality of the situation, that a lot of things that other people were exposed to, I wasn't, so there's a lot of things I don't know, but it doesn't mean that my functions don't work in a certain order, just that I haven't experienced much of the world, and that my goals and insights may differ from other people of my type. The thing that is keeping me from realizing my type though is that I'm pretty sure I'm enneagram type 3, so when thinking about my type, something that always comes to mind is, is this who I am, or just how I want to be perceived?

@@nooneneedstoknowmyname Thanks for taking the time to write this. You got some interesting points there. Sport is something I am trying to get to now as an adult. I enjoy spending time exercising in nature, as in hiking. I think growing up I had this ideal of being artistic. I wanted to play the guitar and took lessons as a teenager, but my motor skills weren’t great and all I learned at the time was how to read music, which unfortunately I mostly forgot. I do love music. I also believe I am quite self aware, but I am not sure that was always the case. On the other hand, I don’t like fantasy movies, for example. Apparently, most intuitives do. I don’t watch much tv, but when I watch a movie, it’s usually mystery (mostly crime), or feel-good movies that I don’t want to think about. It needs to be something that mirrors “real life” to keep me entertained. As a teen, I had this vision of studying abroad. I loosely followed steps I needed in order to do so. It wasn’t always with the goal in mind, but I just know it was all aligned. I learned English, I started working early so I could save money, got good grades in college, went on to a better job, and eventually moved abroad. What I mean is that I am pretty good at following the path I envisioned, which seems more IJ than IP. Researching is not a chore for me, I love learning. I do have it narrowed down to a couple of things at a time (one being related to my profession). But I don’t “hoard” knowledge as NTP/STJ seem to do, if it’s not relevant in my own mind, it’s gone. I get and resonate with enneagram 5w6, but I did get 7w8 at an odd time. As you, I do wonder who I actually am vs who I want to be perceived as. This is totally relatable. A lot of people say we type ourselves upside down, so I am open to being both. I would love to finally have it to the one though.

@@deborat All this reads more like an INTJ. People tend to identify strongly with their child function (Fi in your case) and mistake it for the hero. INTJs actually feel very deeply, but are very private with those feelings. 5w6 is also very INTJ. 7w8 could be grip stress or being in your shadow at that time. And relaxed Se inferior can dance!

@@deborat It's kind of funny how I agree with a lot of what you said, I prefer more realistic movies, I love researching, though I think I do hoard the information because I can remember a lot of facts, but I'm not interested in learning about anything and everything, for example, I have no interest in cars so if you were to ask me anything cars, I'd have no idea, but if you were to ask me where Moldova is on the map, I'd be able to say without a problem. I'm thinking about making a video and being typed by the experts but even then I don't think it'd be 100% accurate. Best of luck to you finding out your true type, if that's even possible lol.

INTPs: "They are paradoxically people who live in their heads but really want to see reality as it is." That's true. T and S are in some ways exactly the same as well as T and N. If S is focused on facts and details then that's exactly how logic works. You take all the facts with all the details, you don't miss anything so you see it 100% as it is or as it should be and this way you get perfection- no mistake. INTP= perfectionist. And you can't do it if you don't have a goal/task (your or other peoples')- which is J- it's logical, it's systematic- not chaotic. In the past I scored ISTJ on the test but I'm INTP (mbti tests are often incorrect). Which is because ISTJ is the most S, INTP is the most T. The similarity between T and N is: (S= ., N= ?) N is: questioning, wondering, debating, thinking (= T), philosophizing... So N takes the unknown and asks questions/thinks about it. INTP uses T to get from N to S. NTs are the brain types because of the similarity between N and T (thinking, philosophy).

I disagree with many people but I still get them. I prefer people who say: "ok, that works for you, but not for me I prefer to do..." then just to say :"NO. While I agree with the INTP one (it's always sad to see people assume to know more than they do, and never question how they know what they know, leading to false beliefs and false knowledge piling up), one of my biggest pet peeves is when I take the trouble to explain something that's not very complicated, even repeating myself for emphasis, and my listener keeps overlooking the emphasized part again and again, oftentimes because he has some ridiculous agenda or very strong belief that's being attacked by that part. INTPs can be organized... but it doesn't generally come as naturally to us. We're creatures of routine, and those routines CAN include tidying up and making ourselves presentable... although for many of us, those things never made it on our personal list of things to do. We're not all carbon copies of a template INTP. We're also products of our environments and upbringing. Take a look at the "Justice League Unlimited" cartoon. Batman's the INTJ. The Question is the INTP. Similar roles, but subtle differences. Batman's serious and driven to action to achieve his goals. Question's reclusive and weird and seeks knowledge and understanding. Also similar to many INTJ/INTP relationships, the INTJ utilizes the INTP's analytical abilities to gather and parse obscure and esoteric data while the INTJ takes care of day-to-day business and focuses on the "big picture." We INTPs make great minions...

As an INTP I used to have a strong aversion to ignorance but now I've realized that a lot of personality types (specifically Si or Te dominants) tend to outsource their thinking to other people/crowd because they're too busy to think for themselves which leads to poor beliefs. An INTPs our duty is to dispel ignorance using the flaming sword of truth but also we should be careful to not attack the ignorant on a personal level or they will not get the message. Although if it is willful ignorance ...then the truth must be swift, brutal, and undeniable, in order to slice through a thick skull.
@lovewho
@lovewho 11 месяцев назад
There is always a pay off between these things too. That process of out-sourcing is something that can allow you to get a lot done far more quickly. I have seen the tendency with certain types - such as INTPs - to need to know for themselves. That eternal skepticism and autodidactic nature definitely gets them to truth more but also slows them down. 1. Not an ESTP but YES! I strongly dislike when people complain about stuff but don't do ANYTHING about it. 2. Possibly an ISTP but YES! Lying is one of the things I hate most in the world. I also dislike when people are cryptic with their words, just say what you want straight out. 3. Not an INFJ and kind of but not really because I find myself feeling apathetic about a lot of things, so I can't fault someone else for feeling the same. 4. ENFJ is one of my highest potential types and YES! I'm always getting mad at how incompetent and selfish one of my roommates is, I hate when people put themselves first all the time and are super ungrateful. 5. Not an ISFJ but strong yes to all of this. 6. ENTJ is another one of my highest potential types but STRONG YES, I find myself being annoyed by people and their tendency to do this on a daily basis. 7. ISFP is one of my maybe types, and this is mostly yes, condescending people strongly annoy me, especially when they don't have the authority to be that way. 8. Not an ESFP but not really, but kind of? That makes me think kind of, is that I have a lot of friends with great artistic talents that lie beyond just drawing, they can actually make useful stuff that people will buy, especially if you know where to look, a lot of people will buy people's creations just because it's homemade or they want to support small artists. I don't understand why people will take the time and energy to create something and not do anything with it. 9. Not really, I think that everyone should be entitled to their own opinion and there's something that everyone doesn't like about someone or something they do. 10. INFP is a potential type and kind of but kind of not, I don't like hiveminds or when people can't think for themselves, but I also don't like when people cause disruptions when there are more important things to worry about. 11. I'm thinking I'm an IP or EJ type but ISTJ has been a type that I've been kind of considering as a potential type and this is a strong yes, something I complain about on a daily basis is how incompetent some people are, you can even see in number 4 where I complain about my incompetent roommate. 12. ESTJ is one of my highest potential types and kind of, I don't expect people to work hard all the time, and if they don't have any duties to attend to, then fine, but I get irritated when there's things to be done, or when people take on responsibilities willingly, and they don't do them, and they always have some sort of excuse as to why not. 13. Not an ENTP so this isn't a surprise this is a strong no, I don't like surprises or unpredictability, especially that seem to come out of nowhere. 14. Potentially an INTP and I agree with a lot of this, I live in my head a lot, but I also like seeing reality for what it is, and I also get annoyed when you try to teach someone something over and over yet there's no progress made. 15. This is one of my highest potential types, but this isn't that much of a yes for me, I'm usually the first one to cut the cord when it comes to shattered relationships, and I get annoyed at people who keep people around who make them super unhappy, however, I don't like when someone changes suddenly out of the blue. 16. INTJ is on the same level of possibility as ISTJ for me and this is a strong yes, I strongly believe that if they can, then people should do things for themselves, and also, if someone wants something done, they should do it themselves if they can. Whenever someone asks me to do something for them that they can easily to themselves it irritates me so much because they have two working legs, working arms, and a working brain so I don't see any reason why they need me to do everything for them. This was a cool video to watch.

INTJ here. I wouldn't choose dependence as 1st thing that disgusts me. TOP3? maybe. TOP10? for sure ;) Like the others say, things that disgust/annoy me much more are incompetence, general stupidity, lying to yourself (that might be at the top). Dependence disgusts me when someone CHOOSES to be dependent just because they're lazy, weak-minded and stupid and they want someone 'stronger' to think and arrange the whole life for them. But sometimes it's connected to effectiveness: we're family/'team and it will be much more efficient if we share the tasks and help each other doing things we're good at (and which we like) than if one of us is oh so independent that they won't ever ask for help in any situation and therefore get into trouble or make mistakes while doing sth wrong, that could be avoided if only they freaking ASKED beforehand. I don't mind acknowledging I'm bad at sth or that sth is beyond my capabilities. I'm glad when there are people who'd help me. Of course, sometimes I waste time trying to do it myself because I don't like asking for help if there's a slightest chance I'll succeed ;) Especially when I see this task as a challenge. What I hate about dependant people is that they usually don't even try and that they perceive half of everyday tasks as too difficult/impossible. Thus, dependence in TOP10.
