@@Natsu16 Most devices now have accessibility features and have the option to read out loud and describe what's on screen to viewers (i think many can even translate and use braille so that's also cool) so that's always my guess. Same with many movies and videos (but not enough sadly 😕).

How you typed it and you blind

Hey it's not a stupid question at all. And the truth is it's quite scary. I think the biggest thing is the feeling of not being able to do a lot of the things you previously could do. And even when you learn how to do a lot of these things all over again, it's not as easy as it used to be. When I first lost my eyesight, I thought my life was over. Luckily, that wasn't true. There's a lot of ways to do things now that weren't available for blind people even just 30 years ago. Things like talking devices, using AI to scan paper documents, and even simple things like public buildings now having tactile guides (those little dots and strips you sometimes see on the floor of places like train stations). Now is the best time in history to be blind, because there's so many tools and services to help us go out, cook, work, fall in love (yes really). A lot of us can and do live very normal and happy lives. Like me. I didn't choose to be blind. And I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. But at the same time, I'm really grateful for the things that exist today that help me as a blind person.

I use a software called a screen reader that reads text on the screen to me. I actually have a recent video that you can check out where I demonstrate this and how blind people use iPhones!

If you're referring to the editing, I have an editor who helps me with the post-production. If you're specifically referring to how we simulated my current amount of vision, I wrote down a detailed description of what I see through my eyes, and my editor tried their best to recreate it using visual effects in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. I used to be able to see, so that's how I knew how to describe details like "seeing through frosted glass" and "less than 5% of what a normal person sees",. There's also visual simulations of vision loss created by other scientific and disability organisations, so we used those as references as well. Hope that helps answer your question!

Legally blind is just a definition for a level of blindness where you're legally not allowed to do certain activities. For example, drive a car or fly a plane; you need a sufficient level of eyesight to do those things. Legal blindness is also a cut-off point that allows social services to determine if you need certain types of support like disability benefits, social work, etc. There's no such thing as being illegally blind, and no place on earth where it's illegal to be blind. Hope that clarifies for you!

therein lies the challenge because you don't always truly know unless you've been normally sighted before. you try by talking to other ppl who are sighted and both explain to each other as best you can. for instance, you can't explain color to people who don't see light or color so you'd say something like red is hot, fiery, passionate, etc. or blue is calm, cold/cool, and so on. You can never accurately show people how you see things any more than a crazy person can explain how their mind works. Ive been very near sighted my whole life and when ppl say how bad is your vision I don't have a definitive way to explain to them, I can only attempt.

I work with a video editor to make these videos. Hope that helps clarify

Great question. I used to be able to see, my vision wasn't always this bad. So what I did was try my best to describe to my video editor how to re-create what I see through my eyes. Descriptors like "right eye has vision like looking through frosted glass" and "left eye has very blurry, narrow vision that can still see colour, like smearing Vaseline onto a camera lens". I then show the video to other people to see if they can describe it in a similar enough way. Once it sounded close enough, that's the version we used. Obviously this isn't 100% accurate but it's probably the best way we could get an approximation to visually demonstrate what I personally see through my eyes, since I have no realistic way of verifying the final product myself. Hope that helps!
