Shine a flashlight into a deers eyes when walking in morning hunts. They can’t see your outline and will walk way and then usually come back later in the morning. I use to do this when they were at my feeder every morning. Miss that place
I do not wear blue or yellow for that exact reason, it's a boat horn in the woods. The interpretation of how deer see blaze orange seems to be different depending on who you are talking to. Some people say white, some say gray-brown and others say green. So the only that is for sure is that they don't see blaze orange as orange.
I was listening to a deer biologist the other day and they said that deer also process movement twice as fast as humans...they literally see things in slow motion compared to us. Great tips and information.
One thing I've learned is that if you do happen to move and a deer sees you and locks on to you, stay still. First thing they are looking for is you eyes. Close your eyes as far as you can while still seeing the deer. They are scouting for eyes- make no mistake. If they don't see your eyes, they'll move on to tactic #2. If a deer angles his/her head while looking at you, you are in the overlapping field of vision and they are trying to get a clear bead on you. I've noticed many times that if you stay still, the deer will drop their head, then quickly look up again to see if you move. It's almost as if they are tempting you to move, trying to trick you into thinking they don't see you. Stay still. They are looking for that second movement. Move once, you might be okay. But if they see that second movement, they are gone.
Cool. Videos 24 hours old, your comment is 23 hours old, pretty neat to watch the video, walk outside, put these secret tips into play, harvest a deer with that dead on shot. 🤔👍🏿
I used to hunt out of a tree saddle, but I found myself moving/fidgeting too much and kept spooking deer; now I either still hunt from the ground or use a hang on. I’ve seen more deer and had more fun.
I walked up on a deer once and had a stare down. Stayed completely still and only moved when the deer looked completely away and made it out without spooking.
I knew deer didn't see orange and blue. But I didn't know about yellow colors. Those old nanny does your talking about I don't know how they do it !! I can have 15 deer walk by me and they just walk by, a doe will show up with the wind in my face, not moving but she will start blowing and carrying on like your in her scent and wearing a blue jumpsuit! lol. If I can I shoot her because she'll do it every time she walks by. I didn't get to shoot a big buck because a nanny doe came, couldn't see me ( or so I thought) couldn't smell me but started acting a fool as a huge buck was coming from the other way. He stood there a minute and snuck back the way he came from. 🤯
I hear different opinions on how orange looks to a Whitetail. My solution is to wear the orange that has the branches pattern on it. Anything helps, I think. Thank you ~
I had a buck run out of trees towards me in the wide open. I was walking till he ran out, I stopped and he stopped at 25 yards. Moving slow to switch hands with gun and shouldering it and bringing it up for the shot. It was an awesome experience with a nice deer hanging on the wall.
