Elders sitting in the front, with the kids peeche, sometimes even sprawled on the ground. I realise that's how my family has been arranged for most of our family photos. Have you noticed a pattern in the photos of your family?

Damn!! Kapoor and sons was really amazing in depicting this. The family struggles to fake their emotions for the sake of the family photo that rishi Kapoor's character keeps insisting. Makes us realise that the current gen of parents and youngsters don't believe in faking it for a social status.

@@sgsan705 well you're right, there is still a large element of faking in this gen as well. May be it's not as simple as it looks. It's not about generation. I was wrong. I think this struggle of knowing the reality of the situation and choosing to accept it or living in ignorance is a choice we always have to keep making. To emote or not? What's at stake?

@@pranavanataraja6116 Gen Z holds a Ph.D. in faking things. Why? Sinply because we insist that people look at us and admire us. Earlier mostly physical presence could ensure social status. Now, we create IG, Twitter, Facebook accounts (these are not the basic needs) to show off. Every happy moments needs to be captured and *Posted* for the world to see. Earlier it was just captured and hung on the wall, only visitors got to see them. Everyone will shove their happy moments on your face now.

Well wouldn't one click happy pictures only. No one would like to propagate sadness. Or freeze a sad moment. That's human nature and a great survival technique (do not get depressed) Also, yes it is given that every family is sad and happy (sometimes former more than latter) yet, how is it related to clicking pictures.

This video is not really feminist but an awakening call to people as individuals. Very few people understood what she wants to convey. The norm of faking happiness has it's roots since the ancient times. Even now in the era of technology where insta/FB have become like oxygen for people, we fake things. We are always showing the good side but we ourselves know the truth- The complete truth. She is not saying that a family should take pictures in grief or such, she is simply showing us how a happy family photograph is not actually a happy family. People are fighting, depressed, assaulted. We are faking everything for society who wouldn't remember u after u perish from here, this world, this society. When we think of a happy family- the picture comes in our mind is somewhat - normalized, and we think it as ideal. We should not sacrifice something as precious as ourselves by faking happiness for a society who doesn't even care!

Great video! My thoughts- The reason we take pictures is to capture and revisit those moments later. We capture only happy moments because we want to remind ourselves of the good time we had. We want to forget sad moments, therefore do not capture those, although some happy pictures also remind us of people who are no more with us or the situations that followed that picture, making us sad. Family portraits definitely are similar everywhere, it is just reflective of the way the families live.

It meant family pictures should be any picture which have family members in it. But we generally only take pictures of family when everything is fine/ occasion of happiness but not of sad moments. I don't believe in celebrating your sad moments as part of your life experience. Mankind deceives itself with such romantic approaches which is in my opinion idiotic. So what i do in my sad moments is feel the sadness and learn ways to get rid of it. We are here to get rid of sadness, not to put colors to it. Otherwise The next thing you'll be inclined to do is accepting your own violent behavior as valor and enjoy it as part of your life experience which is literally happening everywhere.

The family system is India is the one which has maintained sanity in the society inspite of overwhelming challenges . The economy of the country is also somehow maintained by the family system where the wife keeps the savings of the family safe and acts as a safety valve preventing wanton splurge by husband . Imagine the mayhem and insanity if there were no family system in India . This is under attack by certain forces . @@taylorswiftrox6382 Marriage isn't a bad idea, most couples today don't depend on their partner to control spending. Your partner won't accept you unless you share responsibility in a relationship. What is bad is what can happen behind the scenes, when the pressure of this role falls on one person. It is your spouse at fault if they cannot control their urges, don't hold the other person responsible for their stupidity. And these families and societies may look kept together, but that is not the case when there is so much hate against women and their families for a spouse's fault. When marriages turn sour, fingers always point towards the woman, no matter what. They are often driven to suicide after years of harassment.
