What are expats living in China jonesing for at late night? What's the best choice for a late-night grab? This time we asked foreigners about their thoughts on late-night foods/meals/snacks/drinks
(P.S. This is also our first time ever midnight street interview! We enjoyed the late-night summer vibes on the streets of Beijing.)

I only eat midnight food when I drink, I just eat leftover foods and tofu, any type of tofu :) the other night it was pop corn, we call it pulutan (food you eat while drinking) in my country.

May not be the healthiest habit but then we only 24 hours a day to work, sleep, socialize and eat. And China or Asia in general have the tastiest street food that are opened late into the night. Also China is probably one of the safest place on earth at night.

Singapore too, is extremely safe at night. 💖 In Singapore, most shops that are open 24 hours are Indian restaurants; I love eating their roti pratas at night on the days I do not wish to eat my usual dim sum. Due to the influence of Korean dramas, many youths these days love eating instant ramen with their friends and gf/bf at 7-11s or petrol kiosks late at night. Too bad that the sale of alcohol is banned from 10.30pm to 7.30am in Singapore. 😂

Man.. I don’t get how non Chinese natives mastered the Mandarin Dialect. It take a lot of work and dedication- much respect.

In northern area, it's a little easier to learn dialect than the southern area OAO

如果你会普通话你可以去中国任何地方都畅通无阻。大部分华裔都有自己的方言。但是为了交流，面对不同的方言时候，我们用普通话沟通。

Fact! Also it's real food not processed food. We only get Tacobell and Mc Ds here in Canada. Kinda sucks because you feel like crap after eating them, but when I was in China I could eat late and not feel like crap the next day.

It's unique in that those night markers aren't premade foods as all of them are usually made in front of you.

In Guangzhou, I'm usually eat dimsum at midnight with my friends. If you think dimsum is too much, you can go to eat lot of chinesse BBQ, skewer or just a bowl of rice noodle. Other option is seven eleven for instant noodles, coffee and bread.

5:33 I think China has way more choices than just barbecue and kebabs for supper. It is just the places that you go usually are catering to the taste of foreigners.

Chinese cuisines are just unbeatable mate . I lived in England for almost 7 years , and I can tell you that western cuisines are just “ that’s it “! We just have way way more choices of food than any other countries ! Those Chinese restaurants in your local China town can’t represent as authentic , and most of them are sucks to be honest .

Those foreigners speak pretty good Putonghua! And I love it whenever Xin Yue speaks in Putonghua, she sounds so CUTE! She reminds me of RU-vidr Cathy Cat, a White girl who is fluent in Japanese and doing videos about Japan. Xin Yue is China's version. 💖

here in Hong Kong, it's either late night Chiuchow Da'lang for some simple stirfries and cold seafood or Cantonese hot pot... and a little less often how Dai Pai Dong, because so many of them are closed down due to more regulations against them operating on the streets, and sometimes it's because the old estates they were in have been taken down and rebuilt into modern apartments that don't allow this kind of establishment or are prohibitively expensive in terms of rent. Dai Pai Dong are a "want because they're cheap and good, but NIMBY because they'll lower my home value" kind of place for a lot of people.

In my country it is not midnight supper. More like Good morning Supper. Strange isn't it? Most after work will rush to meet friends at Pub Ktv for drinks. If you are lucky ,they sell light snacks, otherwise it is Supper after drinking sessions which normally end at 3am.

每次从纽约回来,大概早上11点半落地,睡到2-3am,然后去吃海底捞.每次去纽约,大概早上6点落地(还得开车去其他州),睡到3-4am,然后只能去附近所谓food market(其实就是大点的便利店).收银员见到3点还有人来,都会惊了一眼,不过一看是Asian大概也就放心了.不过,但是,此时,我右手会往前一怼,说道"u mter fker,give me my money!"

宫保鸡丁川菜吧，北京菜有个炸咯吱不错。香油当火锅蘸料的是四川人，我去过成都人家里吃火锅，给了我一碗香油，吃了没多久觉得要吐，因为太过油腻。

作为成都人，我拿到香油的第一件事是喝一口看他的芝麻含量高不高（这决定了我对火锅店的评价-追不追求细节），不够香的香油会让我觉得这家火锅店就是开着玩的，但是要想够味是不加香油，全加火锅里面的油

the description sounds more like certain types of 豆干, you can find them at small grocery stores on sticks heated in old style rice cookers next to the 茶葉蛋 also kept warm in rice cookers. although that's more common in Zhejiang than Shenzhen...
