Just came back from a week of vacacion and I feel like my snake just doubled their size haha. It's amazing how little time and effort is really necessary to keep them happy
Future Bob is probably my favorite, though I do admire Kent’s courage for working in a place that’s filled with danger noodles that could maim or kill him at any time. Lol. Thank you for this video Bob. I have other pets besides snakes that prevent me from vacationing or traveling for any amount of time (plus lack of funds) but if I ever get into a position where I CAN leave for a few days I know my snakes will be alright as long as I follow your tips. It’s a really great idea to feed a few days before leaving to watch for any negative possibilities like regurgitation so you have next to nothing to worry about when it comes to leaving your snakes alone for a few days. Another good idea would be to check your thermostat(s) to be sure they’re in proper working order and assure yourself there’s no exposed wiring or the plug isn’t in the socket properly. Also, for anyone using artificial lighting or uvb, checking timers and settings is another good thing to do. I’m sorry you got sick. Covid is not fun. I’m truly glad that you’re feeling better now and can continue making awesome videos that are not only informative but fun (and funny!) as well. Thanks Bob! ☺️💕
How the hell did I miss this video?!? Fraya!!! I can’t sufficiently express how excited I am to see those eggs! I hoping (REALLY hoping) that I’ll be able to have another one of her babies. Marie would love a sister (she told me that). Or brother. I’m not begging you. No, not at all. All I’m saying is, “Please Bob……may I please have a baby from this clutch?!” So exciting!🐍❤️🐍
Practically the biggest problem is hydration. If you got a Thermostat and lights on timer, you're pretty much set. It also helps if you got a bioactive enclosure. The humidity stays for longer and less need to clean.
Just got a ball python 2 days ago and have been and will be working out of town for quite some time. Mon-Fri (been out for a few months and so far no Saturdays). Nobody else to care for the snake. My biggest concern is him dirtying up the water. I have a large water dish to ensure he doesn't run put of water though. I probably should have bought him when I took some time off to make sure everything runs smoothly with the light timers. But the store had'em 50% off so I kind of went for it.
Thanks, I appreciate that! The subs seem to be increasing nicely :-) I have a pet shop down the road that boards reptiles as well. I'd recommend that for a lizard, but I think snake mites are too risky in places like that
Time Travel!? NICE. I like the travel hat, I don't think it makes you look Amish, but I did really enjoy the back and forth about it between past and future Bob. Anytime you want to come back to Utah, please do.
I just got back from vacation a week ago. I bumped up my humidity since my snake was about to shed. I came back to a nicely shed snake that I would of loved to cuddle but it was her feeding day. I’m about to go on another vacation but more worried this time. Last time I had someone to check on her but this time they are coming with us. I might set up an old security camera to keep an eye on her tank and temperatures. My main concern is the air conditioner in the house tripping the breaker and the house get to hot.
One of the big arguments made by the pro-cat camp in the dogs vs. cats debate is how independent cats are, and how they can be left alone for longer than dogs. Snakes however take it to a whole new level!
I can't wait to say I was a subscriber since 9k. You're going to blow up. Great job Brother. N don't let Kent get killed by those monster constrictors you have. He'd lose his mind at Jay's reptile zoo, huh?
@@GreenRoomPythons that's awesome. You're one of the best. I was shocked when I seen the number of subscribers. You're gonna blow up. Tell Kent to grow a pair!
I babysit my friend's two ball pythons and she brings them to my house, but she's gone for at least 3 months and the power in her building goes out sometimes, the temperature fluctuates and she did not invest in proper thermostats yet, so it's safer for them here at my home where I can do a head count twice a day and keep on top of temps.
Hi there! You’re channels been a huge help. I know how often I should be changing my bp’s water, but is there any particular reason that they need to be changed often? I honestly thought it would be fine to leave the same water in the enclosure until it evaporated.
Most snakes won't drink water that's not fresh and they could get dehydrated. Also, water sitting in a bowl will develop bacteria so the bowl needs to be regularly washed out.
You have also see it like this would you drink water that's warm and 2 days old? Don't think so. I give my cal king every day sometimes even 2 times a day fresh water out off a bottle. So the same water as I drink. And it's best to keep a spare waterbowl so every week you can change and clean the other let it soak for a night in (whatever you use to make sure bacteria are away)
@@ThunderSong I know but mammals are very different. My grandma's cat get new water everyday too but tablature (it's health here in Belgium for humans too so no worries) but for a snake I be extra carefull. Reptiles really need that fresh water (and you can filter your eater with something that you add on the thing where it comes out or use bottle water like I do.
I love snakes. The greatest pets ever. Make sure they are ok and u have someone OK with reaching in to change water and spot clean. All set for 2 weeks. My ball phython is about 4 1/2 feet, eats medium live rats. I stay put to make sure the pray dont become the hunter.... My snakes have never had any issues, Ive had a few, never more than 2 at a time, mainly due to cash flow.... My next one will be a tree boa.... Cant wait.. I know, i know... u should not feed ur snakes live..... My argument is, why? they eat live pray in the wild.... Like I said I sty put to make sure the snake does not get hurt. Also, bite me trolls.Im not endangering my snake... Yes this is something I have been told, by, I guess a breeder.
It's not that I'm new, and I have someone to change water. And to put out some urates mixed with .... when I'm gone. But I can leave a California kingsnake that's still in his growth now because he sheds every month. He's 1 meter and 2 years (since June 29) old and now he really becomes a big boy. I don't overfeed him at all. Otherwise he would be bigger allready. But basically he has 1 year off very good growing to do until he's 3 years old. So can I keep a California kingsnake 15days without food? That guy's gonna go crazy I think. That's also the reason why I only go away for 5 days this year but next year it will be for a bit longer because a snake that's now in his peak growing period (and I mean it last 6 months he's growing like crazy) And he's still his friendly self. Men I love that snake. 24 August it's allready 2 years that I have him. Time flies. BTW he's in shed again. But if I wanted to go wouldn't it be bad to be so long off food because like I said he's in his peak growing period? When he becomes an adult next year I know it will be fine but now I don't know... Edit: BTW you look Amish with the hat 😛
I don't keep Cal Kings but I believe every 10-14 days is a normal feed schedule for a 2 year old cal king - and skipping a meal occasionally would be fine for them as well... Check on that though because I don't keep that species
Always supervise if there's a live rodent in the enclosure. I would say 10-15 minutes. If the snake doesn't eat, just wait until their next scheduled feeding to try again.
when I personally go out on vacation I take my ball python with me and my bearded dragon goes to my friends house because she can’t come over to our house and she can’t take care of my ball python.
Yeah, some folks do that. With many snakes, that could trigger some issues just because it takes them out of the environment they know for an extended period and that can really stress out a reptile. If it works for your snake though, that's great!
@@GreenRoomPythons oh ok. Also, would a 17high be too much for a 2 month bp? I also have a 24x12x17 tank sitting around. It’s just a little larger than what i have him in now (20x12x12)
Sadly, my snake passed while I was away. There was a heat wave where i lived and he didn’t survive, the water evaporated… does anyone know what to do to make sure the water stays? Thank you
@@SonarJotCoS it's like if you had a dog. You just have to make sure that they're taken care of so they can survive when you're away. Most people who travel a lot can't have animals unless they have someone coming in and taking care of them
@@GreenRoomPythons ohhh I see. Thank you! I don’t really travel a lot, just one or 2 for 2 weeks, and last time he was fine, but this time since it’s summer maybe? Thank you so much, this will help me learn in the future!
@@GreenRoomPythons definitely him too and your snakes are gorgeous especially Lucille I think her name is. She's albino and green which are fetching colors for a ball python.
