The only thing that comes to my mind is that Kenya is our african rugby rival's. When ever we face Kenya I make sure to pray because their speed is something to be recon with.
Great video. I am proud to have served under United Nations transition group (UNTAG) in 1989 to 1990. We are proud to have assist Namibia gain independent. Wishing you all the best.
The guy with cap and light bluish t-shirt (RK) is doing great. He was the most informed about Kenya. The lady with brownish suit, the funniest 😂. Making faces and some funny gestures to my guy RK responses 😂😂. I am Kenyan, and I love Namibia. I can tell its history from Germany colonialism, the Herero and Namaqua rebellion and genocide, the Apartheid under South Africa (South West Africa), the Freedom and Sam Nojuma participation, I know Katutura when Kenya peace keepers were in Namibia in 90s under UN. I know your athletes like Fredricks, and the two upcoming ladies (Mboma and Masilingi). We also joke about Namibia population, how Windhoek streets are empty. I know Namib and Kalahari deserts, great and best roads in Africa, etc. I can say a lot about Namibia. Much of this especially history and geography, I learned from school. But the current, is from own personal interests in understanding fellow African countries.
@@fegow-farmland8399 the population also surprises me. Namibia 🇳🇦 and Botswana 🇧🇼 are two least populated Southern African countries regardless of their vast land masses.
@@fegow-farmland8399, unfortunately, I forgot and I did not mention them. They are called Himba people. I love them. Like the Maasais, they are among few African ethnicities proudly holding up to their culture and living in accordance with their context. However, I find your description of them as overtly condescending. You can tone it down 🙏🏿
To be honest, I don't know much about Namibia too. So no one should feel ashamed. Now I can do further research and expand my knowledge of African countries I know little about. One Africa. Nice video.
I'm a Kenyan living in Nairobi, how comes I know kalahari desert,Sam Nujoma, windheok, two million population of Namibians, gained independence in 1990 from British,South Africa.Hot weather, also have elephants.Just to mention a few.We kenyans have fair general knowledge of most african countries from east, south, west, central and north, all in the spirit of pan africanism.Im shocked that some people from Namibia have little knowledge about their fellow african countries.
Fran Mdleleni, you are right,I second you concerning our education system.General knowledge does have significant advantages in life.I came to realise, not only some of Namibians, but also some people from other nations in Africa have no substancial knowledge of their continent.
@@ibrahimmuhidin7194 so whenever we complain about our government not doing this or that, we should at least appreciate what they gave us in terms of quality education. This is a gift which no one can take away from you. Most Kenyans are able to adapt anywhere in the world because they are knowledgeable about the people they meet, their history and their environment.
@Fran,you are absolutely right.Ive come across some being interviewed from a big country like SA,with all the amenities,to my surprise most of them know absolutely nothing concerning Kenya and other countries, while presumably they are the ones to take the lead.Knowledge and exposure is a valuable tool in life as you've said. Thanks
Love this channel! Great job Aame, an opportunity to teach Namibians about Kenya. I meet Kenyas and they know so much about Namibia unlike other Africans, they don’t even know where Namibia is 🤦🏾♀️
i so much love kenya the swahili language makes me be in love of this country and then the wife of newly elected president's wife Rachel Ruto i love her so much
All I know about Namibia is that they have beautiful roads and they play rugby. Watched a few documentaries and loved their roads. I've also seen dunes
Always great content from this channel, I think the Namibian government should assist and sponsor these channel as it's outing Namibia 🇳🇦 on the map and as well educating
The guys seem pretty based. I like their attitude even on what they weren't familiar with. The ladies though... Anyway, I hope y'all get a chance to visit us (KE) someday. Thanks for the video, Aame Int'l
Those girls really underestimated kenya, she like "why would u choose kenya of all other countries "but honestly I also don't know much about some african countries
I'm Kenyan I know a lot about not only Namibia but the rest of Africa! Kenyans were the first peace keepers in Namibia after it gained independence from South Africa,
Good work, we all need to be open and intentional about knowing who we are Africans. I will do my part. By the way loved lexi's reaction to RK's answer. That was priceless....
Gdp Kenya is top 5 in Africa....biggest Economy in East and Central Africa....did you know that if you mention Kenya in your get over 10k views as Kenya has the fastest internet in Africa
Namibias flag was influenced by Kenyan flag!! Sam Nujoma the first president got a lot of aid from Kenyan doctors, teachers, Kenyans literary helped establish Namibia as a country, I'm surprised that this Namibia students weren't taught the role Kenyans played for their country!!
9:27 Just a slight correction, the Swahili community are not majority if anything they are among the minority communities but their language is used as the national language. And I think that's interesting too
The history we learned in Kiswahili's Fasihi, is that the people who are called Swahili today are descendants of lost Bantu tribes that had their culture and language that was not Swahili. But they adopted this language that emerged out of interaction between the Bantu people and Arabs in the coastal region, and their own became extinct over time.
Its interesting that these Students do not know that Kenya played a major role in Namibia's independence. Their first President Sam Nujoma did borrow some of the colors of their flag from the Kenyan flag as an appreciation to the role that Kenya played during their struggle to Independence. Major General Opande was a very important player for Namibia's independence They should at least know the role Kenya played during their independence
There is a lot of erasure going on with their history. I think I'm going to buy some 844 history text books just incase this new system wants to keep our children ignorant.
Honestly, the fact is that Africans can do better at teaching its own about Africa, its history, geography, culture and all, just like the Westerners teach themselves and each other about their own. These UNIVERSITY students are not even taught about their continent, but unfortunately most likely know so much about Europe and America-colonial mindset!! Africa wake up it is time.
I heard Kenya contributed immensely to Namibia's independence, and it helped create the first military force in the country. Recently, the Namibian president honored Opande and other Kenyan soldiers for their sacrifice.
@@mcback4384 Kenyatta was pro-apartheid not Kenya. So many Kenyans including the Vice president, Oginga Odinga, stood with South Africans. When Mandela came to Kenya at one point, he met Oginga.
😂😂😂honestly in sadc we know more about each other than other regions probably at some point we thought we were one country growing up I never knew that Namibia and Botswana are not part of south africa but either way I love my Namibian cousins I will be visiting you guys in december🇳🇦❤🇿🇦
Just to respectfully correct you, Swahili is one of the smallest tribes in Kenya but the language Kiswahili is the most widely spoken not just in Kenya but the entire East Africa. Swahili people are mostly a products of Arabs and Africans. There also Swahili people who don't have African blood. These are descendants of Arabs from Oman and other Middle East countries who came to the East African coast afew centuries ago. Kiswahili language is a mixture of African languages and Arabic. Greetings from Mombasa.
Kiswahili is a Bantu language...at least over 75 per cent is Bantu. Arabic influence is minimal...plus there is influence from German, Persian in it too. Arabic is likely about 10 per cent. Let's stop pushing the Arabic narrative more than it deserves.
Thank you for this interesting insight. European people often think from "africans" as one Nation and forget, that there are many countries and even more ethnies on your huge continent. Your Work is really helpful to show the cultural differences and also what Namibia and other african countries have in common.
I know so much about Namibia,am surprised how South Africans seems less interested in rest of Africa. Anyway I belief the students will try learn a little more of kenya and other others like drc,Chad,Burundi Rwanda Uganda, Ethiopia Eritrea etc,
@@aameinternational2054 I meant southern African thanks for drawing that to my attention. Apart from studying a bit of southern African history, in my high school, am always following what happens that part of the continent as well as the resting including but not limited to West Africa.
Tell them Rwanda with due respect, has benefited much from Kenya’s technology capabilities, human resource and as a small brother, we would love to grow together. I have Namibian friends and I’m looking forward to visiting Windhoek in near future. Kenya is ranked around sixth place in terms of gdp, ppp in Africa, however it still has a lot to do when it comes to gdp per capita, unlike Namibia’s gdp per capita.
