Hi guys, Thanks for watching the video. I filmed the video and I can confirm she does that much in a day. At the time of filming, we had a lot of outside factors going on and she was quite wiped between the 2 races. Thanks so much to GTN for editing and producing the video. I see some great comments and we appreciated the feedback. Vegemite and avo on toast is amazing, well worth a try, lets push the team and GTN to give is a go! haha . We'll hopefully find the time to produce more videos for Sarah on her RU-vid in the future and instagram on the lead up to Kona.

I find it really interesting watching what actual athletes eat vs what RU-vidrs say you you should eat. My takeaway is “eat whatever you want to get the job done, nutrition isn’t just for the next 5 minutes but the next 5 days, don’t deny yourself anything, be sensible”.

thank you for sharing this. I thought it was really interesting to consider that not every meal is low fat. I find it interesting to understand how to use nutrition/calories to maximize performance as an athlete. also I appreciated seeing the details of Crowley's swimming workout. Thanks for this video! I’m always curious to know what pro athletes eat. Most of the athletes I’ve heard from actually like to indulge in high carb-fat foods for quick energy so I’m not surprised to see that Sarah does that same. I think the best nutrient packed meal is a quinoa salad. It’s an energy source with a complete source of essential amino acids.

No way is that all they eat. 7hours of training would require at least 4000 calories
@trepidati0n533
@trepidati0n533 Год назад
Yes and no....this is often misunderstood. When you do a workout...those calories are burnt. However, your body compensates and burns less energy when not working out. The data backs this. Current science says you get a net benefit of only 25-50% of the calories burned in a workout. So if your normal daily rate is 2k calories and you do a 2000 calorie bike....your net day may only be between 2500-3000 calories...not 4000. The body is a pretty neat machine that way.

@@trepidati0n533Id also be interested in the studies that prove this. Because it seems almost contradictory to most triathletes eating between 4k and 5k cals a day without gaining weight, and many athletes that eat below 3k calories getting RED-Syndrome

Agree. Go and check Kristian Blummenfelt or Gustav Iden days. They train a lot and can burn up to 8000kcal per day, so eating a lot! This amount of food is not enough, definitely. Even if she is doing less than these guys. Fuel is key
@idlesociety5458
@idlesociety5458 Год назад
It’s all down to the individual unfortunately. Whilst yes, they may need 8K cals per day, she may feel that’s too much food for her to consume whilst training and might make her feel sick/sluggish. Which many people do. It’s just about the quality of food you’re getting in. There really is bonified target cals for any sport everything is based on averages and estimations.
@mottohorn

I missed the part where she said 2k calories. This amount of food in this video is likely more than 2000 calories by itself. And…she probably also trains with gels and run/ride fuel as well for her races which she did not mention.

I don't understand why so many athletes are caffeine junkies. As an aspiring cyclist I've actually cut caffeine out completely because it screws with my sleep cycle so badly.
