In Contact Harvest, the jackals were raiding those unmanned human ships for fruits and things like that. In the first contact meeting between humans and covenant Sgt Johnson’s team prepares fruits and vegetables for jackals. They weren’t expecting brutes.

the second LIVE action Halo movie shows a colony of Lekgolo that abandoned their Hunter shells and formed a wild colony that DID activity Hunt & Eat most of a small marine detachment so THERE is official canonical evidence of Hunters Eating Humans.

What do the covenant eat? Brutes : *Yes*

I'd say the talk between the brutes in that cutscene in Halo 2 can only be taken with a grain of salt. They more than likely were just trying to intimidate or frighten the Arbiter, considering the current Brute-Elite relations, and the hate for this particular Elite. They probably do eat meat, and would eat an Elite if they had to... but I doubt that Brute was actually hungry.

Elites live on a planet alot of water and in Halo Fractures (minor spoilers) the Half Jaw tells a story about how he used to fish in rock pools when the water receded, so i think it's safe to assume the Elites also eat some form of sea food. Also in Contact Harvest (minor spoilers again) the Jackals steal fruit from humans, so they are at least capable of eating safely eating vegetation even if it isn't one of their primary food sources.

In Halo Night fall the feral hunter worms where attracted to electricity, and I'd assume the people who got swarmed by them didn't get tickled to death. They must eat humans and other meats too. In a episode of hunt the truth season 2, jackals would have shared servings of all kinds of meats and organs that they feast on.

Didnt veronica say that the drones were eating the wires and circuitry of the superintendent during halo 3 odst? But i may be mistaken.

My guess with the two hungry brutes is brutes are hungry within an hour of eating. It makes sense, they are so strong that they would have to burn a lot of energy with their increased strength. They are also almost certainly warm blooded, meaning they have to heat themselves by burning food energy. Probably the reason for fur

When playing halo3 (odst) if you go behind cover sometimes brutes will say "ARE FOOD HAS TAKEN COVER"

In halo combat harvest there was a group of jackals that raided a UNSC ship and were eating melons that were on the ship

I read the Halo novels (I own them) and one part of the book Evolutions is put in the veiw of the Brutes and they end up eating the Grunts they took with them along with some of the humans they captured. Nice video btw!

"Lekgolo probably can't eat Humans alive." Did you forget about Nightfall? Sure they were genetically modified and were in colonies, but if a colony is big enough, they probably could eat you.

Interesting video, although I have one issue. I think you're reaching pretty far with the "the brutes went hungry" argument. I interpreted the Halo 2 anniversary cutscene as showing the dominating relationship between Tartarus and his brutes, as well as the antagonistic relationship between the Brutes and the Elites. Brutes are beasts, and probably did eat "whatever they got their hands on" but that doesn't make them lowly. They were next in line behind the Elites and after the Great Schism, they were the leaders. They were certainly well fed. The Covenant only weakened after its fragmentation, other than that it was a strong empire that lasted almost 3000 years (852 BCE - 2552).

There’s evidence that Brutes hunted and ate people and when they ran out of people they ate the Grunts on their ship. There’s also a picture from Hunt the Truth that shows what Jackals eat

The jackets are humans. In the New Blood book, Buck states that Draco III was not glassed but instaid was used as a hunting/feeding ground for the jackals. They round up the civilians and soldiers and eat them

Actually read through Contact Harvest recently. Near the beginning of the book, a bunch of Kig Yar actually eat a shipment of Human fruits. So unless it made them sick afterwards I'm guessing that they don't just eat meat. Also I'm in the middle of the Kilo-Five trilogy right now. Near the end of Glasslands and the beginning of The Thursday War, some Sangheili foods are described, along with some insights on their diet. I'm still reading The Thursday War so I'm not sure if they go into any further detail with a certain Sangheili.
