officers, certain specific job details such as liason and certain entertainers get their own rooms. You MAY get lucky if the ship is short staffed and could wind up with your own room for a finite period of time, but otherwise, no, you cannot request your own room.

I've been on a couple cruises with carnival cruise lines and they have this "behind the scenes" thing that's like $60 per person and it basically takes you on a tour of like the whole crew places that passengers don't get to go (food coolers, laundry room, how they fold sheets, crew outdoor and indoor break rooms, they also hand out things that say house many pounds of food are on board and all that)

Hold on now..think about it.. I bet you the crew works very long hours...it's not a 8 to 5 job. They probably dont spend long amounts of time in their cabin..dont need a big cabin if they are going to sleep most of the time. They are not on a cruise.. the paying passengers are. also I would imagine they assign cabins based on work shifts...dont put two day shift people together..put a day shift and evening shift together...one works the other is off...more privacy.

I worked for NCL in the 80s. The ship I worked on did a split week at 3 day cruise and 4 day cruise out of Miami to the Bahamas. We got a lot of singles. So on the first night our job required us to show up to a mixer and to drink and mix and chat with any single women. I kid u not. But I really wasn't a big drinker, so I might I've had just one drink for the hour or so. All cruise ships run on alcohol. But I don't ever remember working for any other job where I was required to drink basically. Or at least have the appearance of drinking. We had mandatory blood test every few weeks or STDs too. There was a lot of fucking and sucking that went on. 90% of the single women were looking to get laid. One thing I found out about women living 15 years and the Caribbean and working on cruise ships was that they are seriously into casual sex as long as it's out of their hometown and preferably out of the country. It's perfect for them. They don't have anybody come sniffing around for more puss afterwards... And upsetting their boyfriend's or husbands in the process. LOL. I am not kidding. I am dead serious.

Hi Michelle. I am working on a cargo ship. I think my captain would suspend my shore leave if he weekly inspected our cabin like yours. Normally our captain would not allow us to put anything on the table during his inspection. Well, I understand you have a tiny little cabin with 2 crew members. You would not have enough space to store all your staff. Does it any cabin inspection onboard your ship? Who would incharge of the cabin inspection?

@jimmyryburn4057

@@HusseinDoha And what crew members do you know that have actual privilege to go to the pools (you put plural) cafe's, cinema and restaurants on the ship? Crew have one tiny pool like the size of a large hot tub. Regular crew can't go to cafe's unless they are officers, guest entertainers. And regular crew doesn't typically get to go eat in the restaurants. Every once in a while the Cruise Director will set up a movie in the theater for the crew for a late night show. Those of us that work from 0600 to 1700 are too tired to go do anything that starts at around 2300 at night.

Les Wilkinson not really no- people try because they like the itinerary on one more than the others ( ships going to dubaI etc)- but they'll place you where the need is. when you submit with a hiring partner what you can do is tell them which cruise LINE youre most interested in though- and they can look for vacancies with-at least- a certain brand

@MichelleTimrox
@MichelleTimrox 7 лет назад
Ana GuGaRaSu you clean your room but there are some that strike a deal with cleaners and pay them weekly to do it. senior officers have their rooms cleaned by stewards but they still tip them for doing it. there is a laundry- some ships let you do your own, you just provide the soap. my last ship didn't as people messed up the machines one too many times so you pay someone to do it- about $1/load- you could buy a bunch of tickets and just hand em in with your stuff. uniforms are free to have cleaned. senior officers have all their laundry done for free (taken from their rooms and brought right back- as staff or crew you drop it off and pick it up during laundry hours).

How's the A/C in crew cabins? I appreciate all the hard work you all do for us the passenger. Do all the cabins have the same type furnishings? And is it just 2 to a cabin. So what's the situation with cleaning of the crew cabins ? Do cleaners come and scrub the shower and vacuum the floor etc ?

omg, I had to stop watching this because I was getting sea sick from the jerky camera or maybe it was a rough day out there on the water.

The space is much bigger than the crew rooms in those mega-Narcissist super yachts.

I'm fine with the small space, the only problem for me is that the room is (obviously) windowless and deep into the boat which makes it feel far more claustrophobic.

It's not. It's.actually the best sleep I've had in my life because it's completely dark- there's no sunshine waking you up

@@MichelleTimrox that's an interesting point I hadn't thought about - that could certainly help folks a lot. I still stand by the claustrophobia though 😝

Do any of the crew cabins have portholes? A ship I worked on had two and it was a huge cabin. But it was a freighter ship, so I would guess just more room in general. Do cabin sizes very ship to ship?
@MichelleTimrox

Les Wilkinson big time variance from ship to ship. it also depends on your position sometimes. as activity host I had this room, but then on a newer ship my roommate and I had side by side twin beds and a port hole. then I was back to this room again. ya get what you get- but USUALLY port holes are reserved for managers etc
