The sequel should've been an inversion of the first game. Instead of giving directions to a hiker, you're the one who gets directions. One voice helping you and the other one is the goat man mimicking the helper, but trying to lead you to him. And it's up to the player to detect the real voice and maybe use some navigation skills to find their way to safety.
I think the "radio chatter" style of game is SO COOL. it really gets you on edge. A good one is Killer Frequency, that would be a cool one to peak at behind the scenes. Future Horror Scoped episode?
So at 4:04 there appears to be an early look of the office but it look closely it resembles a very iconic place from another horror game. If you don't know that game is Silent Hill 2, now specifically it is the observation deck near the beginning of the game.
@@WyrdSimi Which is probably why it went unused and was redesigned to look different, I don't know if it would need to be an issue, but Japan's copyright laws don't exactly allow for much breathing room when it comes to Copyright infringement and yes, I'm aware how stupid that sounds but this is Japan we're talking about, their copyright laws aren't going to match the copyright laws anywhere else.
4:24 they're there as matte paint backgrounds. This is a technique well known in film making and even some games utilise this technique to create a sense of distant environments. It works, because often times the player/film camera won't get close enough to the background to be able to tell it's just a 2D background. Thus, instead of recreating it in 3D, they just paint it into a 2D canvas, giving the illusion it's physically there. The technique is used to save real time graphics memory in games, and reduce rendering times/save graphics rendering memory in movies. Basically instead of the void and 360 sky that you see in the finished product they wanted to have that as the envrionment aesthetic. That's why the closer objects like the exterior of the building enviornment was made fully in 3D, so the players would be tricked into thinking all of it is real, and so they wouldn't be able to tell where the 3D ends and matte begins. Then they probably realised they could further optimise it by just doing the building, adding some blinds, getting away with saving more memory and not having to align everything to create that initially planned optical illusion and making the 3D exterior look nice too. Edit: It saves memory and realtime graphics/rendering times obviously because it's much easier for the engine/3D software to process a 2D imagine that doesn't interact with light and doesn't have 3D bumps/textures and geometry.
If I'm not mistaken, the ring at the bottom of the bowl is a reference to Harry Potter where Dumbledore had to drink a bowl of poison in order to get a horcrux (which was a ring)
I've been looking at comments saying that they didn't know there was a second game, words can't describe how happy I am, this game is gonna get recognition again!! :DD
@@bendover4326 Is that sarcasm or are you being genuine? Because the only way I can see you being genuine is that people would want to hear and see more from the game and want to see the ending.
I think what would've been better for this game, that, at the same time, stays true to the original, is that it should've had a Five Nights at Freddy's type gameplay where you stay the night at the cabin as a lost hiker or something and you have to defend your house from the Goatman, and you can determine when he's coming by the screams in the outer woods.
I think the ‘lake scene’ is just the developer remaking the first area in silent hill two, it’s almost exactly the same with where everything is placed, just the car is facing the wrong way even with the big texture of the lake at the back, maybe it was going to be a silent hill 2 Easter egg but he never finished it
It looks like the goat mans skull turned into a elk or horse skull (because for a goat its too big) but the skin around it didnt, it looks like the head used to be human and the skull ripped it open when it came out of (i think) the mouth
The sliver ring from after youn disolve the crow could be a refrence to the ars geotia a 1st century grimoire containg early demontery practises where many demons where depicted as crows and most needs the summoner to where a silver ring on a specific finger for the ritual to be succesful
I do like the old goatman model from first game just pitch black its actually good and cool scary but this one in new game 😐like wt its that its this the goatman? Its the bigest failure ever created its not even fun anymore when I found out thats the new goatman
4:02 ok this is triggering a memory of something and I can’t quite pin it down..... maybe it’s the hotel from the start of silent hill 2 (not actually played any of the silent hill games I like the lore not the games so I’m not sure when we see the place but it’s the bit where James car is parked much like we see here and his wife in in the boot of the car, this happens before he goes to silent hill and I think is seen as a flashback) it will be interesting to see if any of the other comments see this as well.
I love your videos but I do with you would break EVERYTHING down, the whole game, all endings, ect. Not every video but every other OTHER video at least. Good content still 💯
