This video is amazing. I'm transitioning into service design from UX and this video helped a lot to get a more clear perspective on the industry. I'm a self-taught ux designer and am just finishing high school in a bit and to get the foot in the door in service design is a lot more complicated than in UX. Especially without a uni degree or years of relevant experience.

Is there a structured course you’d recommend for a BA looking to transition into the SD world?
@BTVSeries

I haven't completed any structured courses to learn about SD. But as a first step, I would recommend learning Design Thinking. Here is a free course to get you started: www.ibm.com/design/thinking/

Hi! What level of data analytics do you recommend? Which tools do you use? Does the job include processes design or you do not get involved at that leve?
@BTVSeries
@BTVSeries 11 месяцев назад
Hi @paolagp As a service designer, you do not need to be fluent in data analytics. It is more knowing and being able to apply the methodologies and frameworks to go from an ambiguous task to a clear view of what you are trying to solve. One of them are a service blueprint: medium.com/design-ibm/what-are-service-design-blueprints-502ac0f4dac4

@@BTVSeries Thank you for answering! Can I ask you if in this kind of job, you get involved in process design or improvement? For example, after the service blueprint, do you take a closer look at the mapped processes? A certification in Six Sigma or similar would be a good complementary training?

@@paolagp - Really great questions. It normally depends on the project, team and what you were tasks to do. But in general, if you were to design a service blueprint, you would then be able to identify opportunities for process improvement or re-engineering. Whether your team is the right team to re-design it is a different question. But a service blueprint is an excellent way to determine if a process requires a re-design. Correct, learning about lean six sigma is a great way for ways of working. Ideally you would have a foundational understanding of Agile ways of workings and using Scrums/Kanban to help organise and provide direction to your team. Hope this helps!
