Update: While not a perfect fix, my waterline tightened up considerably the next day. Sadly the wind calls got tougher so I still dropped points but very few were from vertical. The bottom line is don't feel defeated just because you have loaded ammo that isn't shooting well because there just may be a way to improve it.
I'm not perfect and like many people do, I make mistakes. In this particular case I seated my bullets too short and I paid the price on the first day of a match with more than my fair share of flyers. So as soon as I came home I measured my lands and made adjustments to my rounds and here's how I did it. I learn more from your mistakes than from the “perfect” shooters. Thanks for sharing them!

I’ve had to do this before too. I used a bullet puller hammer with a plug to keep the bullet from falling out. I like your way much better and faster. Thank for the video.

I really enjoy your videos. You speak with such a "matter of fact" approach one feels like they have known you for a long time. I have learned a lot from you and am courious how you measure your lands to determine seating depth. Hornady OAL tool? Thanks and keep em coming.

I use a single Stage Press and think I have a pretty nice setup now. So now I am looking into a Dillon 750. Thats probably going to be not really cheap with all bells and whistles I will add on. Can You make a video or provide a List of everything you use (Dies, Tool heads etc.)? Do you use a Dispenser or weigh every load and throw by hand?

Interesting video F-Class John. I installed a piston kit on my AR a few weeks ago, decided to use it to shoot an F-Class match Tactical target......a couple of evenings ago I was prepping to load 77 grain Hornady ELD bullets when I dropped and broke my calipers. OH NO. So I ignorantly used my 55 grain SEAT die to seat the 77 grains.....and today my match was more than embarrassing. So I'm assuming 2 things....one this rifle with the piston kit doesn't like heavier bullets (It shot sweet groups using 55 grain factory loads), and two, DON'T seat bullets too deep!

John, I’m surprised the bullet puller doesn’t mark up the bullet. Is that because you load with minimal neck tension, or perhaps just because you are only “lightly grabbing” it?

Does it mess with neck tension? Moving them after initial set?

John how do you get a accurate but more importantly consistent / repeatable measurement for your lands? I use a OAL gauge and I measure to this and I get a different measurement every time! I try to juge when I just touch them but I am all over the board. I usually do it 10 times and take a average. Its fine for load development because I use one number and stick with it but to see if I am burning forward I have no way to tell.

Was this before Erik put all the videos about not to chase the lands? Lol

Dear John, can You please share how do You work on new bullet and barrel (finding the load and CBTO)?

Isn't the collet going to leave marks on the bullet which will affect the BC? Or am I using it wrong?

I’ve done this myself but I always wonder if my neck tension is now different than what I used to develop load. Should we be completely breaking these rounds down and resizing the neck?
