Thank you, sitting in A/E now following a blood clot diagnosis. Blood thinners for me prescribed, thank you . All these symptoms ive had for a while and my GP dismissed this as muscle pain , prescribed ibuprofen gel 😢. Thanks to a Senior GP who took bloods for the D-Dimer test. Thanks, Dr. James , you always listen 🙏
My DVT clot feels like a slightly pulled muscle in my calf which is tender but not super painful, no swelling or redness involved. I walked around with this DVT for 4-5 months before getting diagnosed. I had no idea, glad I went in. I'm on blood thinners, so far so good. I hope, I won't be on them forever though.
Same exact symptoms here in just my right leg BUT I've seen at least 5 docs...many times over 10 years and they all just do a gentle feel of the area and dismiss it. It is a very large area and very tender to the touch and never goes away or changes YET!!!! Docs...nothing.
@Politically Astute Apprently if it goes on too long, it slightly damages the vein, even after a long blood thinning regime. I still have a mild pain, but I'm fine. I wear a compressor around that calf at work and when I go to the gym. Not worried here. Mine was caused by lazy depression and diabetes. I'm almost in total remission with the diabetes, I've learned my lesson.
@@PoliticallyAstute-cq5th Time you went and got a CT scan of your legs. Its the only thing that will show where exactly the problem is. Don't bother waiting around. Demand a referral from your doctor and go and pay for it. Trust me, I've been through all this.
@DingDong2-iy7vb No issue's. Mild pain in calf.. This is due to the fact I waited so long to get it checked out. So mild damage was done. No longer on blood thinners though.
I had no sudden onset of pain, no swelling, no redness. I had a feeling of a tight vice like grip round my calves. That was it. It turned out I had DVTS (which had gone to my lungs as well). They were caused by an ovarian cancer tumour. Although the clots were dangerous, the leg problem got me to the doctor and the cancer diagnosed early, although they did mean I couldnt have surgery for 3 months on the cancer, which was terrifying.
It is a deep, intense tearing like sensation that almost feels like your leg is on fire! I know, I’m in the hospital right now for a DVT through my entire leg!
@@Angel12938 ROUGH. A lot of pain, swelling, even into my scrotum which isn’t cool and I’m on antibiotics for that. It’s been a roller coaster, and I hope the swelling and pain ease up FAST. I had full length DVT(s) in my left leg due to a May-Turner defect, that eventually will be stented open. Last year, I had about ten surgeries (three orthopedic, cholecystectomy, and six or seven skin abscesses), and I had hoped this year I wouldn’t try to beat that number. I’ve had three surgeries so far. Oh, well.
@@My03Tundra ohh my thats horrible / I'm really sorry you're going through all this :( I'm concerned because I took my father to the hospital and he has Blood clot on his left leg and has been in pain for the past 3 days and yeah it's DVT they send him home So I bought his Blood thinner Medicine, he's taking Deliquis.
Short ans: Try hot water bottles. Long story: Had pain in my right knee, could not walk, doc thought it was my RA spreading, however the pain went away no idea how, maybe a clot moved? Then landed up with lots of swelling feet ankles. Wore compression socks, had diuretics (caused kidney probs) so then took of teas to get rid of fluid. Put feet above heart. Then landed up with a big lumb the size of a hot water bottle just above the knee at the back. Massage didn't work. Its like a sack of gel. No pain. What I am trying now is asprin and really hot hotwater bottles. That seems to soften it!!! Its almost like blood has got stuck there. I also tried infrared which made no difference. I recently read about Kalamari they are structures that form in your vascular system. Am not jabs but could have been shed on by a new kitten! The leg feels tight and the lump is now at my upper thigh. Thought it could be May Turner syndrome but have to do more research. Some one said on a comment below about blood nor clotting at 40° or above so will keep with the heat. Got an electronic hot water bottle from amazon! It works a treat. Hope this helps others. Going to have it checked is too risky. Bad experiences in hospitals sorry :(
My blood clot felt it first like muscle cramp in my calf. The next morning I got up and its felt like a vice was around calf. So intense that I made my husband take me to ER at 6:00AM...lyckily my hospital was only 5 miles away and evening shift hadn't changed so they did sonar scan and the next thing was a life flight to major hospital. DVT and my foot was turning black. I had surgery and they waited a week to see if my foot would heal. One week later I lost all 5 toes!! I am so glad I made my husband take me to ER. It could have Been worse!!
Thanks so much for sharing this. I hope you make a fast and wonderful recovery with all the support you can get. An your positive outlook is just radiant.

I have always had very painful cramps, firstly it would start in one leg then the other and all after I had walked long distances. It only ever occurred once I had stopped walking or started to slow down, and it would come on very suddenly and would last anything from 15 minutes to a couple of hours. At other times it would start if I am stretching in the mornings when waking up. Another symptom I noticed is the feeling in both feet as if my middle toe was trying to bend upwards, and that pain is a total nightmare to deal with. Trying today to get an appointment at my GP Surgery is very difficult, and with the situation at all Hospitals with Corona virus scares me.
"A clot will cause a sudden onset of pain." This is not always true. I've had blood clots in both of my legs. The first one did have the sudden onset of pain (sharp, and very localized). But my other clot only produced a general, light swelling in my lower leg. So if you ever get such swelling that is not associated with any obvious physical injury, you should get it checked for a clot.
My foot and ankle have been swollen for the last 3 weeks out of nowhere and I have had no injuries. Two doctors told me they don’t know and there’s nothing they can do. I know my body and I know that something is wrong. Finally today I go to another doctor and they agreed that something is wrong. They ordered an emergency ultrasound to see if there’s a blood clot.
@O K you are right. My experience is also bad with doctors. No blood clot is found in my leg but doctor made weird face to see my fat legs. He even paid no attention to my words.
I’ve had pain lately in my left leg behind the knee. Only when it’s bent even for 30 seconds for months now. Then when I get up it hurts to straighten it & walk. I think I’ll go to the Dr soon. Ugh 😩
I'm 16 and have a 4 cm long arteriovenous malformation aka avm in my left leg in my thigh. I had an aneurysm inside of mine. It was so big and had so much blood supply to it that it can't be surgically removed until we for sure know it's dead. Back in February my interventional radiologist blocked it off completely but that resulted in a massive dvt forming in my leg. Most of the pain was in my calf, at first it felt like a Charley horse was about to start up but not quite. It also felt like a very tight squeeze in my calf. So I had an ultrasound which found the clot so I was admitted and a thrombectomy was scheduled for the next day. After I was admitted the pain got so much worse. It got to feeling like a Charley horse but 10 billion times worse. I've been on heparin since I was discharged. But then some new veins got attached to my avm, so my interventional radiologist blocked those off. But guess what, another blood clot formed in my leg while on blood thinners and I'm only 16. Then we found out that the new clot made the veins in my upper left leg stop working completely. I'm soon gonna be put on a different type of blood thinner. But I have a gut feeling that this avm cuz of how big it was that I'll need to deal with it for a few years
I might have Something like what ur talking about Except My Pain Started in my Hip of the Other Leg and Painful to walk on too ! But then my Right leg inner Thigh Muscle started Hurting Like it was going to Cramp up and Then it Started Hurting Much More and Quickly Hurt to Walk on my Right leg it’s Really Weird thing that’s Happening to Me at First I thought it was all from my Very Bad Back that I have a Intrathecal Pain Pump and a Neuro Stim too ! But Now that I felt Such a Strong and Obviously difference in my Right Thigh Pain in a Matter Of Hours went from being Sore to the Touch to Not Being Able to Put Any Pressure on my Right Leg at All and if I flex my Thigh it Hurts a Lot ! I had taken a Pretty Bad fall almost 2weeks Ago and thought that all the Pain in my Legs and Hip were from that fall, But Now I’m thinking it Might be a DVT which is a Deep Vain Blood Clot because the More I’ve read the More it’s Pointing to a Blood Clot and I don’t know Why this is Happening but Something tells me that My Mom had a Few of them as She got Older but I’m Only 51 But I Smoke and Drink Mainly because of my Depression that I’m Dealing with Living with Chronic Back and Leg Pain for Years Now and it’s Only Gotten Worse over Time ! But if I have a Blood Clot or DVT I’m Not Sure how to tell what’s Happening to Me at this Point and Nobody I know has any Blood Thinners ? I Don’t Care to go to the Doctors and Hate Hospitals, But Dont Want to Die Either at least not Now anyhow ! Thanks for Any Advice for What I May Be Dealing with I would Be Grateful to ya !!! Thanks Matt Sr.
@@BreakFreecontrol-your-world currently 16 and laying in bed unable to walk with a dvt diagnosed Christmas Day running from my right knee up to my belly button on hoxiperin or what ever it’s called, but was a lovely Christmas present.
I had a really quick sharp pain in my back upper thigh, but it went away after 10 seconds. I'm 51 and about 40 pounds overweight, so I'm a little scared. I do walk 5 miles a week on a treadmill on an incline. I'm trying to get healthy, but I need to do more I know.
I'm pretty sure you're supposed to walk more than that. I had clots and I was severely swollen and it's because I gained weight they ignored it because they thought it was just my weekend and normally I'm a small skinny person. Well I even told him I liked was super swollen they saw it they were like after I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms they said oh I had an inkling well if you have an inkling why don't you do something about it cuz you could have killed me. By the way the being that I knew the cloud was in is still burning to this day and it sucks. But also if you're sitting down a lot you should be doing ankle pumps which is literally lifting her toes up your on your heel and vice-versa. Also even sitting for 2 hours can cause this. Before I have the clots I can barely walk as my feet would blow up like a balloon and it was like on a seesaw of my foot. I'm on blood thinners now but I'm really pissed after a year I can planes and nobody did anything. Before this happened to me I was doing 10 miles a day walking. Everybody should be doing 10,000 steps a day. That is what is recommended by the heart association and everywhere 10,000 steps a day will keep you going and moving and try to prevent clots but I also found out I have Lupus anticoagulant disorder so me being super overly active actually treated it all these years and the one year ahead to injuries and couldn't do much and I ended up with clots I was recently diagnosed not even 2 weeks ago with pulmonary embolisms because of my doctors negligence they saw me four times a month and yet they were like oh you're fine it's just swelling in your autoimmune disease and all of that they ignored it and they also kept saying that all my weight my weight my weight well apparently I'm a small person and I'm telling you I can barely walk I had two injuries in my leg and no-one could put this together. So yeah I'm pretty hungry after all of this but you really do need to exercise more than what you do. Also the hiring age you are is also a risk if you have heart disease diabetes anything like that is also another risk. Basically you can get one from anyting even if you're sleeping you can create one. But with all the research I did they say if you're sitting down you should be doing ankle pumps every 20 minutes to prevent it and weight bearing exercises like walking is needed but 10,000 steps a day and if you have any swelling in your feet where you can't walk and it's super flame that it's obvious push them to do a DVT sonogram
I have 2 blood clots in my left leg, and it hurts like hell. Ive been on blood thinner Eliquis for 2 days, pain has subsided a little, but not much. I hope this gets better.
can i explain what i get ? so this typically happens when i walk for a certain time nothing too far maybe after like 5 min this starts happening i get this discomfort on the bottom of my foot in the middle and it goes up to a little above my ankle on the side of my left leg right above the side ankle which i notice a lump that happens it gets very tight and hard could this just be the way i walk ? i do not get alot of mobility , im overweight what can help this ? or any ideas why this happens ? i walk around the house fine but it’s just when i go long distance walking when it becomes a problem never get swollen by itself always with walking ONLY
Happened to me it was like no pain on earth I've ever experienced if I could explain it I'd say it feels like having metal inside you're leg It hurt so bad the blood would rise to the skin the treatment is terrible and does nothing for the long term problems
I was ignored by my doctors for a year and I had swelling obscenely in my leg but they're like oh because you gain weight molds because I can't walk well but my phone was completely swollen and it was really hard but it wasn't super painful people keep saying we've never had a clot that it's super painful it's actually not what hurt was after the clot I ended up with pulmonary embolisms because I was ignored and my being hurt like a mother after
Both of my legs are swollen calf down to foot abd very painful and tight. I am on my feet all day at work, so it is not like i sit alot dueing the day. Im kind of scared to go to dr.... but its not getting ang better
The back of both my legs from the knee to the top of the glut were on fire for days and I run 20 miles per week for years so I know what a strain or a pull feels like . I tried to walk as the whole reason I run is to fight clots and wash my blood. The last knight I couldn’t sleep so much pain no matter what position . I took 2000 mg of potassium from “salt lite” drank over a gallon of water for days in a row . The p seemed to dissolve the problem and I ran 4 miles the next day with zero pain . My heart rate was 15bpm lower at the top of my usual hill .
I have leg pain in my right knee. I can't run nor can I Fully bend down. It is painful when I get up in morning then I can walk normally. My knee does tend to almost give out and it's worrying me. I experience no swelling and no redness. Just pain when I bend knee and sometimes going up and down stairs. I drink coffee to numb pain. 😔😔😔
Leg pain started last night and haven't went away yet. Feels as if I did vigorous exercise on my leg and it hurts deep inside throbbing pain thoughout the calf and behind knee and a bit of the thigh
I hope it's not this but my pain wouldn't even let me sleep and it feels a bit numb in the toes sometimes uhg so uncomfortable but not extremely excruciating just painful 😣 I hope I don't have to go to the e.r I'm trying to push through but I do have a sedentary lifestyle and I am obese
@@ieshahlovelace61 you can’t play around with this. If you have a blood clot you have to get treatment or it can move to your lungs or your brain or your heart and kill you or you might end up with a leg amputation. You have to get moving and lose the weight!
I have numbness in certain part of my both calves. No pain, no swelling, no redness just numb. Is it a sign of blood clot? Its been there a while now. I’m worried.
@@superoli5308 I have to go for more tests. So far my blood work is good and I've had a physical exam and they tried telling me it wasnt due to no swelling but I have numbness, pain, sometimes it feels cold etc so I'm going for ultrasound this week. Have they started you on any treatment to help with this?
I had blood clots in both of my legs and I was at the hospital getting some chest x-rays how I found out about the blood clots and I took some breath and the blood clot broke off both of my lungs what was completely full and one was half full and they had to call a cot Ed told them take me to the ICU stat they watered it give me a clot-buster but my kids said no give me a Heparin drip or Coumadin drip because they told my kids if they gave me a clot-buster that I could die bleed it out everywhere
I got a diagnosis of early onset Osteoarthritis despite telling my Gp of symptoms that are, pain build up in the left thigh when walking which then goes completely after stopping for a couple of minutes, a feeling of something wet touching my skin and numbness in the thigh and a feeling of femoral nerve pain. My leg also feels extremely fatigued while the right one is fine. I have no idea yet what is wrong but I personally feel I have a narrowed artery or a partially blocked one.
@@19900914 It's PAD ( peripheral arterial disease ) What helped so far was stopping eating sugars and grains, didn't do that because of my leg but noticed after a few weeks that I wasn't getting the leg pain, and took several months to reverse the numbness. Didn't touch the statins.
@@asmrfoodieuk7965After some personal tragedies it built up over around a 4 year period of very poor diet and lifestyle for it to be noticable, before that I worked in construction and ate a fairly balanced diet and was active every day and my Cholesterol levels were within the okay range. Sugars and smoking were the main culprits, they had been inflamming my arteries and my body had been sending the emergency crew ( Cholesterol Calcium and Triglycerides ) to patch over and protect a point of lesion. Had to tell my doc I was going to pay for a diagnosis and go the Newspapers, to which my Doc gave me an appointment and discovered the blockage, that was after two years of being fobbed off with painkillers when all along I had been describing classic symptoms of PAD to them.
