I definitely agree with you! I'm Polish native speaker and every day I hear a lot of mistakes which are made by Polish native speakers around me and I wouldn't even say that they are not fluent because they can communicate with others without any problems. Making mistakes is a part of learning every language and a lot of people struggle with it, even in their mother tongue. I'm waiting for your next video about learning languages :)

Eve has a natural beauty and an immediately lovable, warm spirit. But above all, she has a very flexible and powerful brain to be able to change from one language to the other so easily and seemingly at will. Her definition of language fluency here is once again, spot on!

Eve’s beautiful and educational videos always make my day! I think that there are 4 parts to fluency: reading, writing, speaking and understanding. I think if you can do 2 or more in a way that flows and is all around like she said, that’s fluent imo!

You beauty aside, you made great points. I think fluency is when you can EXPRESS YOURSELF, that is the way you express yourself in your native language, USING THE EXACT SAME VOCABULARY, that you TYPICALLY USE, in your native language. THAT is what makes you comfortable. And, until you can do this, you won't consider YOURSELF fluent.

As for me, I would also agree that being fluent is being able to communicate properly; being unhesitating and able to explain your point or teach the listener to understand.

I wish I was like you! I just take too much upon myself, but after watching this video I feel like I shouldn't be like that and I fully agree with you....I mean, I am able to communicate in English perfectly, although I still make lots and lots of mistakes and don't know a bunch of words, and that just makes me feel as if I wasn't good enough....

Wow, I’m completely agree with your definition. Like I don’t have certificates of the languages I speak, but as you say, I can find my way to make others know what I mean (with Portuguese a little bit harder), and also I’m all the time making mistakes and I also agree with you in that, because mistakes make you improve. 😗😗😗

Your concept and the mine are the same. I believe that fluency is when you communicate without big problems. I think that it's a big process and this is not the most cool thing of learning. What do you do later the fluency? Did you start another language learning?

I speak English, Japanese and French but I wish I was fluent in Japanese because I am pretty good but I still have hesitation. I’ve been studying for like 4-5 years now and in French I’m learning it in school and I’m pretty okay but I’m not that good since it’s my first year. I am conversational in Japanese but I’m still sometimes like 🤔

For example when I say the word "Soluble" you might not understand because no one knows every single word even native speakers, maybe it's not just your field; But if after explaining to you that "Soluble" means : Able to be dissolved. Ex : Sugar is soluble in water. If you still don't understand after this explanation that means you're not yet fluent... I'm fluent in : English, French, Russian, Spanish and Lingala cuz I am from DR Congo... 🇨🇩😊

I know some basics in German and some words and sentences in Chinese and Arabic but I can't pretend to be fluent cuz I can't have a conversation in these languages... 😁

Aber brauchtest du für eine Auslandsuni meistens kein Zertifikat? Hast du in Deutschland studiert?
