I'm impressed with this man's courage to address this difficult issue. Even more conservative preachers take a more liberal approach on this issue. Good on you Dr. Brown.
I believe that the Bible also gives us examples- there is an exact case of surrogacy with Sarah and Abraham. What did this lesson teach? I encourage all to read it- beginning to end.
He is just giving his opinion. He hasn’t given even one biblical reason for not doing it. What about a heart transplant? Isn’t that unnatural? Shouldn’t we be praying that God heal the failing heart instead of playing God ourselves and transplanting one?
I think the difference is,your creating a whole human being that gonna grow up not sure of the side effects or resentments to come vs someone who very aware of getting a heart transplant
A substitute heart is a loving donation by a person who became deceased. The carrier of the heart was not around to maybe want to stay “attached” to their heart. Also, a heart is an organ, fully grown, and not a viable human being that will grow in reason and independence over time.
Do you understand biblical marriage? Read your Bible!! Children should be born only through a loving relationship in marriage. The parents who love the Lord then in turn teach their children& raise up healthy individuals. Babies born through surrogacy will only damage the nation & crumbling world even more. Well, this is just my opinion, but god is the author of life, Deuteronomy 32:39 says: See now that I am, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I give life; I wound and I heal: nor is there anyone who can deliver from my hand. But once we are alive we have a responsibility to take care of ourselves, and if that happens through heart surgery that is fine. Maintaining life is one thing, giving life is another.
Story of Abraham and his servant and the wife. They had a baby before Gods time. Only thing is it wasn’t a medical procedure in the Bible. Best thing is adoption
As for your “unnatural” argument, so is brain surgery and removing tumors. Should we not do those things, because they are “unnatural”? - Very weak argument. Also, technically wasn’t Mary a surrogate mother of Jesus?
So, what “tumor” needs to be removed from a “marriage”? This is a nonsense argument. It is natural and God-ordained to try preserving life. In this case, a life has not yet been ordained by God. The couple are attempting to be the ones in control and have what they desire.
No Mary did not give away the child that was conceived and she carried for nine months. Joseph also lived with the two of them and helped bring him up, along with his brothers and sisters.
Surrogacy also could mean a husband & wife create the embryo & it is transferred to another woman who then carries it. Some women have miscarriages or other health reasons for not being able to or in celebrities cases...wanting to carry the baby. Doctor..
Would you be certain that God’s intention was to motivate the couple to adopt a needy child who already exists rather than being selfish or having a “consumer” rather than sacrificial outlook?
There is nothing in The Bible anywhere that approves of this surrogacy evil God told them to be fruitful and multiply and this is Only done by sexual intercourse between a husband and wife. The Bible talks about inventors of evil things "and that's what surrogacy is it's an invention an evil thing. Intercourse between husband and wife is the ONLY commandment from God on having children. Anybody trying to add to God's word God will add to them the plagues written in his word.
Ok. So basically to recap, there’s nothing in the Bible about it and it’s an opinion. I appreciate his opinion I just don’t agree with it. You could apply that thinking to even modern medicine. God uses doctors and medicine to cure diseases (we just don’t focus on prayer alone). Surrogacy is just another modern medicine coming up with a way to be helpful. Again, just my opinion.
