George. As always, another great video. I honestly don't know why you don't have your own show on either The History Channel or HGTV. You, kind sir, have a beautiful mind. I love you George. I have nothing but the very best wishes for you.
My grandparents met at the roller rink and my Grandma is 96.... We still go it's a lot of fun... Whoa that Neiger Bros Brooch is gorgeous.. thanks for the history
Hello from Springfield. Luv the blue sky vase! But the creme de la creme is the Budapest bowl 😍 GORGEOUS like I've never seen!!! I hope the bids go through the roof for you George. Wish I could afford. Take care and see you on your next video.
The last item is one the most amazing pieces I have ever seen. , candy for the eyes!!! I bet it sells for maybe $350 to $400. I think it's worth that for sure. Thanks for your video🐰🐰🐰
The Dick mirror, thanks for a reminder of my immaturity lol! On one of our road trips south, we stopped in at Dick's Sporting Goods. Because well, we're 55+ yr old oft times just randomly roaming for amusing discoveries. There's a small town in Nfld we had to visit a few years ago: Dildo. Enough said...😇
My God, that Samson piece is magnificent! What a gorgeous piece.....and entirely out of my price range. I can appreciate "exquisite" but can't always afford it. It's certainly lovely to look at, though. My eyes are thoroughly sated. I have nothing but respect and admiration for your wide range of knowledge. Your effort in research is obvious and fully respected by this life-long collector of many interests. Thank you.
Ohh my George! Some stunning pieces in this group. The blue sky piece has gone through the roof. I believe you said $175 or a little higher, it is currently at $400 😯
Such pretty and unique items. So fun to hear the histories and backgrounds. One thing not mentioned about Mary Pickford was her marriage to her 2nd husband, Douglas Fairbanks. Along with the business partnership the had together with Charlie chaplain in forming United Artists, they had their famous mansion known as Picfair.
Hey George, as you probably know photographers told people not to smile because their teeth caused a glare or shine on the picture but most people think they were just stoic or unhappy, nervous maybe lol.
Glad you brought up the meaning of end-of-day and how it's not always the case. Not even having studied about it myself, it just doesn't seem logical that there would be so much of it out there if it weren't intentionally done as you pointed out. Nice to see my assumptions are correct. A lot of knowledge we gain is from experience and independent of book knowledge. They say we have the world at our fingertips because of the internet, but I think there is probably more incorrect information out there than correct information, or just even just a lack of information.
Loved the green Rushmore vase and the story. Do autographs have to be authenticated? Apparently it's widely known that some celebrities have their assistants sign for fan mail/merch. The Dresden was lovely. My love of figurines is at war with my clumsiness.
Hey George, you're missing your items in the list of links, beginning at No. 7. Therefore, Rushmore at No. 6 was the last item you listed. Great stuff!! It's always exciting to see what you're going to pull out of your magic hat.
Just took a look at the Neiger brothers auction...noticed a BIG problem. Blurry photos...not the worst. The description doesn't mention the enamel loss " Excellent, no losses or dents of any sort" ... that spells disaster if anyone other than a follower buys it. It's descrived as "no losses" that means no enamel losses either. It could be a legit SNAD filing begging to happen. I'd cancel the bids and take the auction down and fix it due to "error in listing." FAST.
They did a lot of Meissen copies, they were actually very open and honest about it at the time and were doing it for museums and the like, but it made some people angry...reproductions always do!
Hi I like watching you to learn. I cam mot use ebay to either buy or sell. I purchased two peices of fishing gupe at Walmart at closeout for $.99. I put on on ebay to start at $.99, but before I could list the next one ebay decided that I would be banned from buy and selling for life.. I will try to learn from you and go to flea markets and find something some day. Have a good day.
In the case of the postcard, to most of the world it's just a somewhat interesting historical postcard, notwithstanding the one guys hand on the others shoulder in a show of friendship/comradship. So real world value $4.00-$5.00 tops. To put a particular spin on it is just that, spinning it/marketing . Like emphasizing the word 'gay' in old time advertising to spin it. The word meant exuberantly happy or some equivalent in those days, and was understood by all. I notice you also gave that word a contextual nudge in this posting to try to appeal to a certain audience. It was appropriated, much the way the rainbow eventually was, in even more recent times . As kids (I'm 65 now), we included rainbows in our drawings to illustrate the after effects of a rain shower, or show the misty refraction of a waterfall. No agenda, no inferences. Which I suppose just goes to show that a small group, or a subgroups point of view and agenda, or desire to create a new specific meaning for things relative to themselves, can enter the common vernacular if enough of a viral marketing/or propagandists approach is taken over a period of enough time. I like clever puns and play on words as much as the next person, but also am discerning enough to recognize manipulation when I see it (and since many really don't, i.e. 'the masses' they are particularly susceptible to the, not so clever advertising and promotion of various things as acceptable and mainstream by various media methodologies and crass unsubtle attempts at normalizing banter ). I appreciate your commentary and info on antiques and vintage collectibles and your sense of fun and humor, and think overall you do a great job. Keep up the good work.
