Angels, in hebrew, it's said malakim, and it always has the meaning of "messengers" or the ones who bring you the orders from above. But if you read the old testament without the theological filters, it'll be clear for you that their actions are not done by common people, but by individuals alien to this Earth. I dare you to check all the times it's mentioned "glory" in the bible. Be aware that the original Hebrew term is KAVOD and derives from the Hebrew root K-B-D for weight, honor, mass. Theology ALWAYS translate kavod into glory, but the polysemy may accept it refers sometimes to something heavy. And when it comes to kavod (glory) and ruach (spirit) the polysemy is never taken into account and those words are always translated as glory and spirit. Go check what the glory and the spirit are capable to do in some verses of the OT. They must explain to me WHY the glory do all that stuff!!

What Zechariah have seen flying in the sky was, literally, a _Megillah_ which is also that system used by hebrew to store and read the scriptures, shaped as a scroll (google it, please). This should suggest, without a shadow of doubts, that what Zechariah has seen flying in the sky was a cylindrical shaped, or cigar shaped object. When ancient people had to describe unknown things they used words concerning known objects. It is common. Native americans used to call the train "iron horse" using the two best words to describe the train: its material, iron, and its purpose, means of transport they used to know back then, the horse. So...what was the cigar shaped object Zechariah had seen flying in the sky?

I don't think they have a full free will to show themselves, in relation of the technology in our possess is raised in the last decades. I have experienced a UFO sighting just once in my life, a couple of years ago, the kind of globular one. It was a rapid and sudden experience, a bit weird, and I didn't find a coherent scientific explaination for that sighting.
