That reminds me of some of us Black folks who love criticizing other races and cultures, but at the same time don't feel others should criticize us and our cultures. It seems like the most racist among us can complain the most about others being racist towards us.

Hey Cuz Tripp, welcome back! Dave Chappell is one of our favorite comedians of all time for our generation. He’s a sharp shooter who speaks his mind when he wants, and he’s crazy talented. Comedy used to have its own forum where a lot of comedians used to tell raw jokes on live sets where they spoke their mind on any given subject, and everything was fair game and every subject was up for grabs. But today, I think most will agree that everything is politicized. The question is how far is too far? Or should comedy remain unfiltered like it’s always been? Also, if comedy has no filter, should white comedians like Jay Leno, get a pass to use the N-word, wear Black faces or be insensitive towards Blacks with racism? Archie Bunker was one of the main white comedians who was notorious for using the N-word regularly on set, and on regular daytime tv networks. But I think most (Black) Trans groups feel slightly different from the entire LGBTQ movement. Some Trans comedians feel they can take a joke while some are asking “was the joke even funny?”…In other words, to some, Chappell sounded more like he was making a comparison between DaBaby being ‘Canceled’ for Homophobic Remarks, But Not for Shooting a Man. And he was saying, our country has made it okay for a Black to shoot a Black, but you better not hurt a gay person’s feelings. Note, I think you have to look at the facts: DaBaby’s charges were dropped by the judge because he was in a stand your ground Red State, and the 19 year old guy who pulled out a gun on him, did it to rob DaBaby in a NC Walmart while he was with his daughter and girlfriend. NC is a stand your ground state, you can use your weapon to defend yourself in a robbery situation like in this case scenario. So, in a sense he was justified for defending himself in a Red State. Also, the key witness suddenly decided not to show up, but the judge was already set to get DaBaby drop the charges against him anyway… Now, this definitely would’ve been a different comparison if DaBaby shot and killed an innocent White guy out of having a beef, revenge, or burglary etc., I think one of the other reasons why they Chappell vs The LGBTQ community issue blew up was because this was a historic year for passing the Anti-Transgender Legislation, and this bill was a bill passed in 33 states. It’s also considered one of the highest years of transgender murders. So, I think the Trans community would’ve wanted to see him use his platform for a better purpose to say things like, “Stop the murders in the Trans community or stop black on black crimes” to impact change as opposed to making Transgender jokes… etc.

I don't consider a Trans person as women at all "But" I will call them if I so desire a "She" when addressing them in person only out of courtesy. When I'm talking about them to friends or family I always usereference like "He, or him".

The LGBTQ community need to stop being so sensitive; I understand that the trans-community is a marginalized group but nobody is exempt from being talked about. Dave Chapple shouldn't be cancelled because he is a comedian and comedians just tells jokes. Africans- Americans are also a marginalized group too and they not exempt from being talked about so the trans-community just need thicker skin.
Agree with you Melvon, if you can dish it you should be able to take it also. No one group of people are more important than another group - there is strength in numbers. The strategy is to keep us separate and fighting one another - the crabs in the barrel syndrome.

I'm a trans woman! And I love your podcast. It's a sensitive subject that needs to be discussed. I have people in my family and community. They have different opinions about LGBT topics. But I have to learn that everybody is not going to understand clearly nor except. As long as I accept the woman that I am. As trans. It's cool because I know in my heart where I stand. I think the main takeaway was that Dave Chappell did an entire show making fun of the lgbt community and then at the END he wants to be an "ally" and learn to understand. Make it make sense... "oh imma talk mess for an hour and THEN say hey! Lets all get along." Much like any group of people the lgbt & trans folks aren't a monolith so some are trippin but even more dont give a damn what dave had to say. I think EricaDinero said it best when she said it hits a whole LOT of folks since the lgbt folks are all ages, ethnicities, all around the world and thats why stuff like this gets so blown up. I personally just let folks be whoever they are no matter what they look like. To me im all well...what does that make you?
