Are the Gardai in some parts of Rural Ireland armed? And outside of protests, is there any trouble with the Gardai in rural areas being on power trips and trying to be alpha males (which they are most certainly not)?

@@michaeljohndennis2231 armed garda patrols every day in courtown co.Wexford but then we do have 3 hotels with refugees and six houses filled with them and that's just inside the village, another 86 mobile homes going in for them soon but we don't even have a garda station in courtown. They have being on a power trip since the scamdemic started .

By "the people " they mean the ever decreasing percentage of native Irish, Dublin will resemble Lomdon or Birmingham pretty soon and areas already do , import the third world become the third world.

I’d feel far safer in Dublin if there were routinely and visibly armed Gardai and Milltary on the streets on foot patrols, especially in the City Centre and at all bus, LUAS and train stations

Been in Dublin over 30 years. Never once had an issue. I think people buy into fear factor too much.

I’m in the suburbs and feel I could be anywhere in the world really, however, the thing that stands out for me is the people, we smile a lot, can laugh at ourselves and can chat to people in supermarket queues, bus stops and anywhere you have to wait. In some other countries I have visited they probably think I’m crazy to smile and chat. I’m not sure an umbrella works here 100% of the time because we have a lot of wind and slanty rain, but bring a raincoat for sure. I don’t really drink 😱 but there are still things to enjoy here in Dublin like the National art gallery, Kilmainham jail, getting the dart to Howth or in the other direction out to Bray climbing Bray head, seeing the GPO, going to the theatre or comedy venue and seeing a show.

In the 2022 census for north Dublin inner city only 36% of people identified as white Irish. 2020 census 51 % identified as white Irish. What does that tell you.

It is sadly, since 2010 - I’ve been coming home to Ireland and I’ve seen it get ever worse since I’ve lived 22 years in Manchester - I used to live in Dublin for 3 years before 2002 and all the areas of Dublin I used to know have been ruined

I never understand why country people always hate Dublin. It’s weird. They always come to Dublin and tell us how much they hate it. They tell tourists to skip it. It’s horrible. I’ve never talks down about the countryside. Dublin is a great city. I’ve been here over 30 years and there is so much to do and see. So when I hear someone put it down like that, it tells me more about them than the city.

Pretty complex really i suppose they get the feeling their lives are ran from dublin it is the home of the government and a small elitist west brit poulation in some areas that they dont believe shares their values. Another big one is the accents. They dont like the d4 crowd and the north dublin accent has been demonised for years maybe even since the foundation of the state. I dont really feel its a hatred people growing up out in the countryside can make cities feel clostrophobic and inanimate while the people who live in the city revel in the community spirit and availability of services/entertainment. My late father used to say about being in the bussle of any city here or abroad that he would rather be standing out in the middle of a field. Standing in the middle of a field the sun on your face the lush green grass sparkling in the sunlight insects buzzing about busily on wildflowers birds singing from the hedgerows and animals grazing while their young leap about exploring their new world. The feeling of serenity is wonderfull and smells of nature. I now find myself the same way for example after a week away in hungary all i wanted was to get home and drink in the serenity of being back home in the countryside i tend to find big cities draining. Just my 2cents.

It's because as far as capital cities go it's an absolute joke. The only reason we go there is because we have to go for some things because there's no other options. It's only a capital city because it's in Ireland where we don't have any real cities.

Hang on a second, Dublin born and bred in my 50ths. If you want to put your head in the sand go ahead, but if you can't see junkies out of their heads, you haven't been paying attention. Or assaults and attempted assaults on Women over the years by guests or "new Irish" shall we say. There's no way I'd let my 15 yr old daughter into the city centre or environs unless in a large supervised group..
