It appears that he lives in PV only part-time and that he also has places in Toronto, Calgary and Florida? What is it like living in PV during the summer months when it's very hot and humid? It would be interesting to know how much he paid for his condo, how much it costs to maintain it, how much property taxes are, and whether he rents it out when he's not there?

Curious what made you decide to settle in PV versus Merida? My partner and I are looking at Mexico as an option. I’m US citizen and she’s Canadian.

Gary, does the Mexican government charge you a 30% withholding tax on foreign (canadian Dividend) income, or do they leave you alone, and you just pay the CRA every year? Thanks, Bob
@GaryShirkPV
@GaryShirkPV 11 месяцев назад
From Wade - Robert: If you don’t have income in Mexico you pay no Mexican taxes, you just pay your CRA based on Canadian income
@CallowG

@@GaryShirkPV I still have to look into capital gains for non-residents. I think going non-resident means I pay 15% on CPP and OAS but not sure what the implications are for capital gains on Canadian equities. It would be nice to only pay 15% on 50% of the gains but I suspect it's more likely 15% on 100% of the gains.

and thats exactly the problem, people are coming to mexico without paying taxes gentrifying the country which is a big issue. do us a favor, and if you plan to stay here, start the process of permanent residence and pay taxes, because what you are doing is causing a lot of issues for us locals. and now canada is asking visas for mexico because "we go illegally there" ok fine, but we should start doing the same here in Mexico and respect our countries dont you think? thank you!
@bobbybeast1000
@bobbybeast1000 2 месяца назад
@@lum3336 I see your point, but I am doing it legally. The Mexican Government doesn't charge you on foreign holdings, or a withholding tax. If you hold Canadian funds, you pay only the CRA (Canadian Revenue Agency). And, when foreigners add to the economy when they shop/ spend/ rent local which is exactly what I'm doing (I'm here Jan thru March (1 month left). By the way the customs guy stamped the wrong side of my passport, so instead of getting Permanent Residency, I'm in the system as a tourist and have to leave thre country and come back to ratify it. And you know what, I've seen a fair bit, I'm moving on to different countries and places ie Portugal, Southern US and Hawaii etc But I do agree foreigners raising the price hurts everyone ESPECIALLY the locals, It's not good.
