Kim, please be careful with that heat. I’ve been in EMS for 33 yrs in Florida. I’ve seen tons of heat related emergencies. Drink plenty of water and Gatorade while working outside. Also, put ice packs in your armpits, back of the neck and behind the knees when you feel overheated. It will cool you down. The older we get, the more the heat bothers us. Take breaks in the shade and drink your fluids. Heat stroke is pretty serious. Please be careful!!

Also one if things I noticed over the years, family in construction and I worked retail, is a lot of times the person affected hadn't been eating much. Usually skipped breakfast or had been out drinking the night before. This mostly my ex coworkers or customers.

Fatigue and lack of sleep can cause sudden ache and chills. At least for me. Boy, I hear you when you talk about caring for Levi. My parents were worried about my oldest sister who is mentally and physically disabled. It was distilled in all of us siblings that we were caregivers as well. When they passed I took over her care. It is now just her and I in life and I prayed God would not take me and leave her alone. My health is failing so those fears are all to real, It is not easy. God bless you Kim.

Kim, drink something with electrolytes (Pedialite) in it. You don’t get electrolytes from just water. Your body was really struggling to cool off. Eating something with potassium would help also. ❤

@@carolynfillingham5743 AS A FORMER ATHLETE - TEA DOESN'T DEHYDRATE YOU BUT TOO MUCH SWEET TEA SPIKES YOUR SUGARS. SUN BREWED ICED TEA IS BEST - MARATHON RUNNERS PREFER TEA OVER WATER BECAUSE IT REHYDRATES THE CELLS FASTER AND HOLDS FLUIDS IN LONGER VS WATER FLUSHING THRU YOUR SYSTEM THEN YOU HAVE TO PEE IT OUT. THE MORROW KLAN LOVES STORE BOUGHT SWEET TEA WHICH CAN BE ALTERED BY USING AN EMPTY CONTAINER AND DILUTING A NEW ONE AND ADDING SOME SALT OR ELECTROLYTES INTO IT. OR USING THOSE WMPTIED STORE BOUGHT JUGS TO MAKE HOME BREWED TEA SET IN THE SUN AND MIX EACH GLASS WITH ENOUGH SUGAR/SALT OR ELECTROLYTES. DRINK IT THROUGH OUT THE DAY AS IF RUNNING A MARATHON. IT WON'T BE SWEET BUT IT WON'T BE BITTER EITHER.

Hey Kim, I've also been an outside person my entire life (58), and I have had the heat monster get me a few times. I get going on things outside and forget how much time has passed. Just last week I did it again. I took a wet towel put ice in it rolled it up and put it on the back of my neck and then underneath my chin to which helped me cool down, but I stayed outside in front of a fan before going in for cool shower. If I go inside to fast then I really get to feeling worse. They say to cool yourself down before going into ac. Glad you're feeling better. And be careful yourself while in the heat. It creeps up quickly...

I’m sure you get to going & next thing you know you’ve been out in the heat a lot longer than planned. Especially since it’s only June & heat index is way up & we got alot of summer to get thur yet! Thank you Jesus for being with Kim & watching over her, Amen❤

I sometimes think "why don't you pray"? You just reminded me, I do.......in my heart and mind, I talk to God every day.....several times a day......He knows.........I don't sit there and verbalize, I think it in my mind and heart...........My Mother's neighbor came to me once and said you'd make your Momma so happy if you went to church. I said "Clara, I'm closer to God out diggin in the dirt than I'd ever be sitting in a church pew............"Well, I trust you on that and I'll never mention it again". "Could you tell my Momma that, please"? I have my reasons for not going, but they are private and personal and not open for discussion. Thank you for that reminder, Kim!

Kim, heat exhaustion sneaks up on you. Georgia has extreme humidity too. If you are planning on working outside, drink lots of water and don’t work in the heat of the day. That happened to my husband on his job site outside. He actually passed out. Co-workers packed his armpits and certain areas of his body with ice packs. I’m so thankful he was not working alone that day. Also, we are not spring chickens anymore. We can’t take the heat like we could when we were younger. Be careful. I know you are very independent, but you should be very careful.

Be careful Kim...When I had my heart attack it was not pain like you think...It started as tension in my shoulders like from stress then a weird tingly feeling like an arm or leg being "asleep" but not just one area and I couldn't relax. That was during my wedding ceremony which I made it through but afterwards my heart stopped and the ambulance took me to the hospital. I had 2 stents put in. I never thought it would be my heart. I am like you and build things like my boat house...the day before I was on the roof doing repairs. Strong as an ox but that forced me to slow down. Heat exhaustion is when your core temp gets too high during high temps, blood pressure meds are also a factor. I have had it and was told to go to e.r if you can't get your heart rate back down within an hour as the next step is heat stroke. Please be careful and drink lots of water/ice not just tea as this leads to dehydration , wear loose clothes. Love you Kim glad you are okay.

Kim, that sounds scary and I'm sorry you went through that. Please be sure to drink well with your high Texas heat indexes. When I am feeling dehydrated, I use a hydration tablet (packed with complete electrolytes, per the bottle's packaging, and only 15 calories per tablet) that I put into 16 oz. of water, in a bottle or cup, and it dissolves. The tablet is called Nuun Sport. You get 10 tablets in a slim 4 in. by 1 in. wide bottle and it is easy to keep on hand instead of having to store bottles of gatorade and the like. It comes in various flavors. I use it whenever I am sick to my stomach with a virus or stomach bug and can't drink a bunch or when I am feeling dehydrated. It also advertises that is good for sweating with exercise. I always keep a bottle in my home and you can even put one in your purse to have on hand wherever you go. You can order it on Amazon. The flavor isn't the best, maybe because it is low in sugar, but, the watermelon isn't bad. Please stay safe. I'm glad you went over to Gigi's and told her what was going on with you. Glad you didn't just sit at home where no one could help you or might not notice if you got into real trouble and as you said where Levi would be with someone were something to happen to you. *As with anything related to your medical health, you should always ask your Doctor before you try something new. So before you try it, be sure to ask your Doctor if Nuun would be okay for you to take and for what circumstances/situations.

HEY KIM, IT'S MS. ALL CAPS HERE 😂TO TELL YA DAT HEAT STROKE IS VERY UNDERRATED. HEAT EXHAUSTION IS A VERY SNEAKY CONDITION 🤐 THAT WILL MAKE YOU THINK YOUR GOING CRAZY 😂. I MOVED TO WASHINGTON D.C. AND MY DAD TOLD ME TO GET A PARASOL I TOLD HIM THOSE OLD LADIES LOOK STUPID HOLDING UMBRELLAS IN THE SUN AND HEAT. HE SAID OKAY, AND NEXT THING I KNEW MY FIRST SUMMER INITIATION WAS ME NOT HAVING AN APPETITE FOR 3 DAYS AND DRINKING COKE COLA AND WORKING IN THE SUN AND HEAT - IT WAS 120° THAT SUMMER AND THE HEAT INDEX EVERYDAY WAS HIGH. I HAD A COCKER SPANIEL AND WAS PICKED UP BY A POMPOUS PRUDE OF A DUDE WHO TOOK ME TO MY OWN ART OPENING. I DRANK SOME WINE, ATE SOME CHEESE AND IMMEDIATELY FELT DISTANT FROM MYSELF. I WAS WOBBLY AND SHAKING THRU THE ART EXHIBITION. BUT ONCE WE GOT OUTSIDE THERE WAS NO AIR CIRCULATING AND I COULDN'T BREATHE SO I STOPPED MR. POMPOUS TO TELL HIM I WASN'T FEELING SO WELL. I COULDN'T FEEL MY LEGS OR SEE ANYMORE AS SWEAT FROM THE HUMIDITY DRENCHED ME. HE WAS GETTING EMBARRASSED AS IF BEING UNWELL WAS SOMETHING TO BE EMBARRASSED ABOUT. HE SAYS: ALL YOU NEED IS SOME REST I'LL TAKE YOU HOME. I ASKED HIM TO DROP ME OFF AT THE HOSPITAL WHICH WAS JUST A BLOCK AWAY FROM THE GALLERY. HE SAID HE WASN'T GOING TO GO IN WITH ME, I COULDN'T MUSTER ANY WORDS TO TELL HIM I DIDN'T WANT TO BE SEEN WITH HIM EVER AGAIN. I TOOK ONE STEP AND FELL BACKWARDS INTO THE BUSHES. IT WAS DARK OUTSIDE SO HE FREAKED OUT B4 PULLING ME UP THEN HOLDING MY ARM TO THE CAR. THEY DID AN EKG TEST AND HAD ME HOOKED UP TO EVERY KIND OF MACHINE AND TOLD ME I HAD HEAT STROKE. THEY ADMITTED ME FOR OVERNIGHT OBSERVATION AND I FREAKED OUT ABOUT MY DOG BEING HOME ALONE WITHOUT BEING LET OUTSIDE. NEXT DAY MR. POMPOUS HAD NERVE AND CAME TO MY HOSPITAL ROOM TO APOLOGIZE FOR HIS BEHAVIOR. I ASKED IF I COULD BE RELEASED TO TEND TO MY PUPPY? THEY SAID NO. MY FLUIDS WERE STILL LOW AND I WAS LIKE 35 AT THE TIME. SO MR. POMPOUS VOLUNTEERS TO GO TAKE MY DOG OUT, FEED HIM AND COME BACK WITH MY KEYS. NEXT DAY HE VISITS THE PUPPY FIRST THEN COMES TO THE HOSPITAL AND I KID YOU NOT HE SAYS: "I'VE BEEN TO WALK AND FEED YOUR DOG 4 TIMES NOW AND SEEN ALL THE ART YOU HAVE. WHAT'S IN THIS FOR ME?"😳🤔🤪😝😛😜🤣😂😊 I SAID: "THANK YOU, CAN I HAVE MY KEYS BACK NOW?" HE GIVES THEM TO ME THEN I SAID: "MY ART HAS A VALUE OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND A DOG WALKERS FEES ARE JUST $15-$45/HR SO HOW MANY MINUTES DID YOU PERFORM SO I CAN PAY YOU ACCORDINGLY?" I ASKED HIM TO LEAVE AND NOT WORRY ABOUT ME AND MY PUPPY. HE LOOKED DEFEATED AND DEFLATED BECAUSE I DIDN'T FALL FOR HIS PHONY BS. I SPENT 3 DAYS HOOKED UP TO IV'S AND I HAD A BABY DOG DEPENDENT ON ME FOR HIS SURVIVAL. I TOLD THE DOCTOR I HAD TO GO AND THEY RELEASED ME THE NEXT MORNING. I WAS WOOZY, AND STILL NOT ABLE TO EAT MUCH. I CHANGED MY LOCKS THO 😂. I EVENTUALLY SENT MY PUPPY WITH FAMILY TO MICHIGAN WHERE HE HAD A BETTER LIFE THAN WITH ME IN THE CITY. I NEVER WANTED TO PUT ANOTHER LIFE IN THAT SITUATION WHILE I WAS BUSTIN MY BUTT TRYING TO START MY CAREER. A FEW YEARS LATER I STARTED A HEALING GARDEN AND IT WENT BALLISTIC WITG GROWTH. IT WAS SEVERELY HOT AND HUMID AND I HAD TO GO OUT BETWEEN 3AM-5AM TO TEND TO THE GARDEN BECAUSE IT WAS HOT 24/7. IN THE DAY I RAN OUT FOR 15-20 MINUTES AT A TIME MAYBE 3 TIMES A DAY AND THAT WAS ENOUGH TO ZAP MY ENTIRE ENERGY FOR THE DAY. IN THE END I BEGAN HOLDING UMBRELLAS IN THE SUN EVERYTIME I LEFT THE HOUSE. NO LONGER LAUGHING AT THE OLD WOMEN HOLDING PARASOLS 😂 ALL THIS IS TO SAY: GO INTO THE ER/ OR DOCTORS OFFICE TO GET AN EKG AND YOU MIGHT NEED TO GET AN IV. DO IT NOW TO GET AHEAD OF THIS BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND MIGHT BE WORSE. THE MOST FITTEST PEOPLE OUT RUNNING HAVE DIED IN THE STREETS CUZ THEY DIDN'T HEED THEIR BODIES WARNING ABOUT DANGERS OF HEAT STROKE. BE CAREFUL AND YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHANGE YOUR FEEDING SCHEDULE AND TIMES TO GO OUTSIDE AND FOR HOW LONG. GET ONE OF THOSE PARASOL HATS TO COVER YOURSELF AND THOSE SHOULDER FANS, AND A RAGGEDY TOWEL YOU CAN RUN WATER ON AND PRE-FREEZE IT B4 GOING OUT AND WRAP IT ON YOUR NECK AND SHOULDERS. THOSE UPS AND USPS GUY'S ALWAYS HAVE TOWELS AROUND THEIR NECKS. I ONLY WROTE THIS LONGWINDED STORY BECAUSE I RELATE TO YOUR CONCERNS ABOUT LEVI, BUT I ALSO KNOW THAT HEAT STROKE AIN'T NO JOKE AND IT WILL SNEAK UP ON YOU EVEN WHILE YOU'RE SOAKING IN THE POOL. ONCE IT GRABS YOU IT'S UP TO YOU TO BE PROACTIVE ABOUT YOUR HEAT EXPOSURE. I'D LIKE YOU TO GO TO THE DOCTOR OR ER FOR FURTHER TESTING CUZ YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO CAUTIOUS ABOUT YOUR HEALTH. BE WELL CUZ THE HEAT IS GOING TO BE HERE FOR AWHILE. ALL THE BEST KIM 😊

Hi Kim, as you said it did indeed sound like a mild heat stroke. You feel bad and your heart beats too fast. Your body temperature is then above 38 degrees. The best thing to do is to drink cool water with electrolytes and lie down in a cool environment and use some ice packs. Elevating your legs helps blood flow to the heart. If you also feel nauseous and your temperature and heart rate do not drop, you should actually call a doctor then it is better not to eat and drink very little until the doctor says it's safe. You are now sensitive to it, unfortunately. If you work outside in this heat, it is really important to protect your neck. You have those sun hats with a flap at the back to protect your neck. Your neck is the "center" where heatstroke occurs. I have been a nurse for many many many years and have treated many people with heat stroke. Please take care of yourself and even if you think a sun hat with a flap is ugly, you better wear it in this heat. Nowadays you can also buy ice packs for around your neck that help with overheating. PLEASE TAKE CARE ❣❤❣

I’ve had heat exhaustion. My head was fuzzy, I could. It cool down, my heart was way up and I vomited several times. It took about 8 hours before I started feeling better. It sounds to me you had a little heat exhaustion and knowing your heart was up probably caused some anxiety and maybe a little panic attack. It can be quite nerve racking. Kim, we aren’t spring chickens anymore….please take breaks often and drink plenty of water/gateraide when you are in the heat. Also, Try to stay away from the caffeine if you feel this happening again. Hugs.

Kim, I too have experienced heat exhaustion. I was at a football game. Went into the tunnel to cool off and became disoriented and eventually passed out. Woke up in a totally different location soaking wet having been doused with water. Took several hours to feel normal. Be careful!

Kim, dehydration can also cause higher than normal heart rate, as hot as it is down there drink plenty of water and something with electrolytes. (not caffeinated beverages) I have also noticed the older I get the less I can take the heat and humidity. I used to be able to work out in it all day, now just short bursts and I try to avoid the hottest parts of the day if at all possible. If I lived in Texas I would have to become nocturnal and work outside at night.

Kim Google web md or Mayo Clinic and you can see symptoms and treatments. . Symptoms are headache. feeling sick or being sick. excessive sweating and skin becoming pale and clammy or getting a heat rash, but a change in skin colour can be harder to see on brown and black skin. cramps in the arms, legs and stomach. Most important thing is not to doctor yourself but seek medical attention if you are sick or heavily concerned.. Urgent care is best.

Kim the same the others mentioned, added avoid caffeinated drinks. Caffeine is a diuretic. You need to avoid the heat for the next few days. Y ou really need to rehydrate yourself really well, and with this heat wave you got to really stay hydrated

Once you've had heat exhaustion, you can be more susceptible to it. I had it when I was 16 (now 67) and I got it so bad, I felt sick to my stomach, a little dizzy and had to go lay down I was so weak. I got up about a 1/2 hour later and started walking back to the pool area, and then bam! I was blind for a few minutes, I couldn't see anything, it all went black, I bumped into someone because I couldn't see. I went into a cool room and sat against the cool wall for about 30 minutes then finally I came out and kept my feet in the pool. Ever since, I have to wear a big brimmed hat and keep a wet hand towel in the freezer to carry around my neck. Gatorade works good to have on hand in case anyone gets that heat exhaustion. Its scary and it does make you more susceptible to getting it again. Wear a hat and keep a cool towel around your neck. I know how scary it is. I hope it never happens to you again.

I never had heat exhaustion. My cousin who lived in Texas hobbit quite often from working in the heat and my sister would have to take him to the hospital. Heat stroke is no joke. I'm sure you know by now what had happened ouheat yesterday. yesterday. You were so excited getting that stump mostly out of your way. You just kept on going with out realizing how hot it was. Thankyou God that you are good today. I hope you have a blessed week 🙏.

So glad you are doing better. You have to be careful with your heart rate being high for that long. I have SVT. Super verticular tachycardia. All of a sudden my heart takes off and the rate just doesn't come down. It's possible that you had heat stroke and that brought it on. I now have things I can do to bring it down. But I still end up in an ambulance at least once a year. When it starts sit, legs up . Try to relax , they tell you to vision your happy place ..me, I pray and talk to God. If still high I start the things my cardiologist told me to do. Cough and cough deep. Wait and see what happens. Then I repeat. No luck I vagal down. That's when you bear down like you are trying to have a bowel movement. Try and wait, try again..if nothing works I know I have to call for an ambulance. ..I am not a doctor but this is what my cardiologist told me to do. It does work for me but at least 1time a year I have to call for help. You are probably right that it was brought on by heat stroke. The other women said you needed ice everywhere..thats so true . A bag of frozen veggies on the back of your neck and ice to your body. But if this happens again and you were not outside or stressing yourself..try the things I said. Please Call your family doctor and tell the doctor what happen.. He will then advise you. Again this is what I was told to do.

Heat stroke/Heat exhaustion happens when our internal core gets overheated. Symptoms light headed, nausea, rapid pulse, etc,… Gatorade sport drinks replace electrolytes, cover your head, cold rag around your neck, stay inside during the hottest point of the day which is normally 12-4pm. Hydration and coverage is the most important part of prevention. As we get older we’re more susceptible

Kim that was either heat exhaustion or heat stoke. As others have posted your medication could have played a role. BUT Texas is experiencing record breaking heat. Don't try to tough it out. Put of working out side till early morning or evening.

I was mowing with a push mower and had heat exhaustion. I got so hot, exhausted, profusely sweating, really bad headache. I had to lay down with a cold compress on my head and neck. I still have issues with being in a lot of heat. I was young and it was several years ago.

It sounds like heat exhaustion to me. I have had it before. End up in hospital. I put electrolytes in my water daily. If you don’t have electrolytes, you can put pink Himalayan sea salt in your water too. It is great for low electrolytes. Most mornings when I get up I put a pinch of the salt in my mouth and let it dissolve. I have a grown disabled child too and I like you pray everyday that Jesus protect me. My son wouldn’t have anyone to help him either like I do. Prayers for you and Levi. Take care of yourselves.🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
