Trying to explain the affinity system in Reborn: "Fire melts ice, but water puts out fire." Trying to explain the affinity system in War of the Lions: "Lions are afraid of crabs but are easily seduced by sheep." (I haven't made it to emblems yet, but I so badly want Gained JP Up to just be an emblem you get for having hit level 8 on a squire so your passive slot doesn't feel wasted if it doesn't go to that for the rest of the game.)

I'd love to see emblems just being an expansion on KoL stuff. Like just take out Gained JP Up, and have unlock bonuses for squire stuff, like killing stuff with a rock or cliff. Have skills like of work like Legend of Mana, where if you achieve the thing, you can recreate it normally now. The Lancer emblem was kind of like that already. Use a spear right: unlock a spear specialty. Use an elemental sword, proc it's spell move, eventually get familiar enough with it to get spellblade moves. It just seems like there's a lot of very organic training they could do there.

I'm excited to see what they do with FFT. The original has probably the best "game feel" of any game I've played. What I mean by that is the PS1 sound design, the animations, the numbers that pop up, the death screams as the characters fall flat on their faces, and the cutscene design. The overall presentation is just perfect and I really hope they don't mess these up in a remake. Gameplay wise I really like some of the ideas you put out. The main task for the devs I think is trying to keep the customization while cutting down the grind for the cool stuff but also making the game challenging. I really like the difficulty of the earlygame and I wish that challenge could be kept up for the whole thing.

My guy is pumping out videos like a champ. also i would love a fft remake only because of the ridiculous amount of power leveling you have to do throughout the game

I've thought a lot about this over the years and I think of like to see: 1) FFT:WotL as the base with the extra jobs and content. 2) Most jobs are fine as is, but redo Archer and Lancer so their skills aren't so one-note / useless. 3) Expanded roster space, should have nearly unlimited or 99 or something akin to that. 4) A way to progress Generics into Holy Knights or something similar. Maybe each generic can progress into one of multiple optional advanced classes, but that would lock out other classes. My logic is, these characters are with you throughout and if you dedicate building them out, they can be incredibly powerful, why couldn't they learn special skills? I've played many generic only takes runs, but I more often use special characters just to live out the power fantasy - make the generics more viable. 5) Make the pub dispatch missions matter. Make the rewards unlock something special like new levels, optional bosses, artifacts, etc. 6) Some kind of post game content 7) make rendezvous and melee available for single player. 8) make random battles skipable / run awayable 9) see the enemy make up before selecting your combat party 10) story wise, I'm mostly good, but would like to flesh out the nature of the zodiac stones. They are mostly tools to summon demons, but we do see them perform a good miracle for Malak / Marach, but that isn't really ever expanded upon. 10a) closure on what happened to Ramza and Alma after the story. I've seen so many theories and comments from the creators, but I'd love a cannon end. Last, I'd love to see this carry to a follow up FFT2, not the advance model, but based on the OG/WotL. Show a combined Ivalice after Delita's rule now having to contend with foreign nations looking to undermine the fledgling nation 11) have a hard mode with more and or more capable enemy units and allows story missions to scale to your level like randoms do.

Finally watched the whole thing. You know, I thought I was huffing copium when I mentioned TOR engine for FFT, but you're assuming it'll have EMBLEMS, so I guess I've got company. So I guess I can get a little wild with it: - Option to use corpses to give skills, put the soul into a katana, feed them to a zodiac, or make the undead monsters. - Archers just straight up get tremendous shot - Ride monsters other than chocobos - Poach becomes a slayer skill - Fist weapons for monks that decrease effective damage but add status effects to all monk moves - Terraforming with geomancers - ja or za spells that can only be cast if you wear special wands - Onion Knights get 3 passive slots but no reactions

To that end, if that's what you're looking for, One Vision did a lot of that stuff. I doubt they'll reuse the Ogre engine here, it wasn't from TOR exclusively, it's basically a rework of the one the PSP version used. They did it out of necessity from a small budget and window, on top of scope of what TO needs scripting wise. FFT is far more straightforward, and would likely get it's own engine, they did the Frankenstein approach with it's rereleases over the years, and while it gets new features, it becomes a little more bizarre every time. Like how the mobile version lags on menus, but got new 3d visuals....and new sprites, but the old text is randomly super fuzzy....or how half the audio layers are still missing from PSP. Oh, and instead of fixing the lag from FFT PSP, it randomly fast forwards slow animations. Let the old horse rest.

I hope they increase the unit cap, you only have enough spaces for your starting generics and all the story/sidequest characters. Also, maybe have some control over the monster breeding so your monster units aren't constantly spitting out eggs.

If fft gets a remake, I'd want a massive overhaul of what skills enemies have and across the board nerfs to a lot of skill combos. Fft is so obscenely exploitable like ff8. You run around 1 shotting everything with dual-fisted ninjas or math, and meanwhile enemy is still using knights throwing rocks 80% through the game.

Good God yes, it just pops up a medieval clippy using PS1 sprites like "It looks like you're trying to unlock Easy Mode, would you like some help with that?"

At minimum the best thing that will come from a new-code FFT is simply the removal of the 9 sprite limit in the OG game that even poor modders cant get past.

- Rebalance stats, particularly speed. Yellspam is funny, but not actually fun to use 40 times. - Rebalance exp growths. Throw stone is pain, delevel traps are simultaneously broken and too inconvenient, jp should be higher to play around with skills without overlevelling. - Monster gear - Chocobos earning jp when mounted to learn stuff. - Rebalance reactions so counter isn't replaced asap and it's not about disabling them - Redo archer. Seriously, how do you make charge 20 work? I mean kingsvein was great but doesn't work with a WT system. - Trajectory. It better not be a passive I swear to ajora- - completing the rest of the zodiac stones as sidequest for superboss - good point with the corpses - i want to bring in crit ailments some way - emblems sound good, but perhaps more utility than stonking patk for punching people into meatpaste

FFT Remaster seems to be the confirmed one, but the "TO Remaster" turned out to also be a total remake, so we only know that it's in development, but little more.

I'd expect we'll get some middle ground explaining what characters were up to without the S5-8 GoT warp feature WotL got. Delita is just kind of everywhere all at once. Oops the timeline is all Delita now, and we just live in his PSP world.

All they need to do is not duck it up by turning it into a different game. Keep the psp localization. There's so many "fft inspired games" and they never hit the mark.

Eh...there discussion to be had. Like I, for one, really would prefer if the punchiness of the PS1 translation was just better translated, instead of rosied up...but on the system end, there's a lot in there that could do with some sprucing up, and I think it can be done, just like TOR.

Pls no random buff cards, no lvl cap/sync and for the love of god do not remove random battles. I just hope they do not try to reinvent the wheel. Just refine the system with some nice Qols, maybe they should take a look at the ones from the ffhacktics comunity to get some inspiration.

I disagree on level cap/sync. Might make people actually PLAY FFT instead of just rushing Dual-Punch Ninjas in Mandalia.

I love level sync, personally. Rank and grind abuse really messed up a lot of the PSP version, and it was great to see so many actually experiencing the fun intended strategy elements for the first time. It's just more immersive to strategize around an even playing field. Dominating when you can't lose isn't winning, it's pouring soap on ants.

⁠I don’t think that’s necessarily true for people who are experiencing the game for the first time. Sure, those of us who have played these a lot it makes some sense to have it but it’s like playing the game on hard mode until you beat it, then you’re given easy mode as a reward seems an odd choice.
